The SL55 or other ABC cars get such a bad rap for expensive maintenance and repairs of the suspension system. If you have some mechanical skills and good source of parts at wholesale pricing, it is not really not that bad. When a side sags or the system springs a leak, most faint thinking OMG there goes thousands of dollars! The two valve blocks are some of the most expensive parts to replace at a dealership. This kit only cost less than $100 and rebuilding it yourself saves you thousands! The moral of the story is if you can't afford the upkeep of a used $120K+ Mercedes, don't freaking buy one. If you do, be ready and have cash saved up, otherwise don't bad mouth your dismal experience because you assumed the car would be like a Toyota.

Well Said Brother. I have a C215 with an M137 innit. And I always say a similar thing. You will be attracted to these cars because of their lines, (their design) and their engines and performance, but only buy one if you have their suspension as their most important attribute. I lowered mines with lowering links, (it was a cinch) and not since my Lowriders days in the 90s have enjoyed up and down ride heights at the touch of a button (or the flick of a switch as it used to be). You see it all over the place, swap to coilovers, go on. But that defetas the purpose of these cars. My last car had coilovers from factory (a Maserati M139 with the F136 innit) and fine I loved the fact I didnt have to buy them and to lower the car all I had to do was wind them down man. That Car what with its Ferrari chassis was way up there in the heady heights of car guy's dreams. But I say to you this, Only go for Coilovers if coil overs are better than your car. And coil overs in my Maser where stock, in my CL600 they would be such a come down I would consider it sacrilige to swap down to them. Before buying a Merc with ABC budget in their upkeep.

It’s accurate apart from the fact the solenoids are quite tricky to get out. I carefully put them in a vice with soft jaws. Then tap the aluminium manifold with a large punch to remove them. I also used letter punches to stamp the manifold a b c d than put labels on the solenoids and take pictures of orientations. You have to use a pair of water pump pliers carefully to turn the solenoids.

I have a 2007 mercedes s600, the pump in the front has the black sphere pulsation dampener and my front suspension valve block is leaking slowly probably due to the o-rings being worn out. According to your description this kit's o-rings will not fit my valve block. Do you sell a kit that would? What do you recommend?
@X8RLtdUKАй бұрын
Hi there, unfortunately we do not sell a kit suitable for the vehicles with the black sphere. Apologies. - Georgina, X8R Ltd

03 s55 amg abc light is on red no sag or leaks do you think this will help my issue?
@Enjoythevroom3 жыл бұрын
It might. I recommend you get or borrow a STAT diagnostic system. Red light ABC warnings can be caused by many many things. But, yes, sagging is usually caused by failed o rings not allowing the system to keep pressure to hold up that heavy car.
@strykz63 Жыл бұрын
Red light could also mean low ABC pressure in the system. Which could mean the pump is failing
