It will take me some time to accept that Merc's flagship looks so generic. Call me old-fashioned, but I believe that any form of the S class must look impressive, monumental and stately. The EQS silhouette gives off a bit of the KIA ProCeed vibe. It occurs to me the idea of luxury and prestige is switching from comfort and high quality to tech and big screens and colorful interior lighting. So, I'm old-fashioned again. The interior looks beautiful with it's light tones, but it seems to me, based on the video, the main screen is a bit laggy, especially in the hi-res navigation mode. I guess it's a good first try, but for this price/battery size, it should deliver more. Thanks for the video. Subscribed.

Agree.. The EQS seems to miss the mark in terms of who is the audience for this $160K car. The car is simply too bland and techie and very little feels like something special. For $160K+ the materials should be incredible and the functioning of the controls should make the driving experience effortless. Rolls Royce has a ton of technology in their vehicles as well but they seem to have put more effort into the user experience for the targeted customer. This car does not feel like something that will age well.

@@MarekDrivesENG I agree and I'm not trying to dispute that. What I was left wondering, would a corrupt head of state like to be driven in one of these? Should anything except luxury and opulence compromise a flagship? I don't think so. Love your videos; it's your ability to tell us what works, but especially what does not! I know I've said it before. But it can't be understated how important that is. The manufacturers will tell us about all of the wondrous things that they have equipped their cars with themselves - we need the car-journalists to criticize all of the areas where the manufacurers have failed. And this is something you so far have been doing better than any other channel on KZbin. PS.: Any chance there'll be a review of the MG Marvel R coming up anytime soon? It looks like the most exciting EV currently available, especially given the price range.
@MarekDrivesENG2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We don't get MG in Poland, so no. I even looked at rentals in a holiday destination I'll be visiting soon, but there's only the MG ZS from a Turo-like company, so we'll probably stick with per-minute cars there. In the pictures the Marvel R looks very promising, and I'd be interested to check it out in real life. I recently took a Chinese EV crossover for a test drive with plans to review it. It was absolutely terrible, and that's before I plugged it in to charge at home, and all my lightbulbs started pulsating. I took it back the same day, and told the company I don't want to have anything to do with that piece of garbage.

Seres3. Euro spec I guess. ID.3 is an absolute disappointment for the hype it received prior to launch. They had the e-Golf, and as far as I'm concerned the ID.3 brings nothing new to the table, because they could have stuck denser batteries into the e-Golf, and get on with it.

The price in general is not reflecting exactly the true value, but the brand name. For every small difference compared with lower priced brands you have to pay a lot. Social status not autonomy. It doesn't matter if Kia offer similar autonomy , some people are not happy to see Kia in front of their vila. On the other side, EQS is typically ranked the most luxurious EV even if it has drawbacks . Thus, if you want to have the most luxurious EV at this moment you cannot complain. EQS is at least well built. The buyer is paying to help Mercedes to make money to produce a better car.

@MarekDrivesENG2 жыл бұрын
Well, it's easy to be less critical, when you have infrastructure widely available. I just returned from a 2.5k km road trip in the Alps in a BMW iX, and I had zero problems with charging... once I left Poland. However many people in Europe still have problems with access to rapid charging infrastructure, making this 2.5 ton limo (or 2.5 ton SUV, if we're talking iX) a short-range proposition.
@enricio2 жыл бұрын
@@MarekDrivesENG The things which touched me most in your review was cheap approaches and limitations of this € 150k(?) car which Teslabjörn did not mention this clearly. 🤔. At this point Tesla is the only brand moving to Morocco. 😁
@MarekDrivesENG2 жыл бұрын
Will do. I'll have an iX video with a lot of numbers :) In short: EVs are best for the city. If you need to road-trip them, it's going to get GT-car expensive, but not GT-car fast. Also you need rapid charging stations (>200 kW) every 100-200 km along the main routes to make road trips a viable option. Anything less is going to be a sub-par experience.
@enricio2 жыл бұрын
@@MarekDrivesENG 😁. That's good data! 'electric cars are most suitable for the city'. In Hungary we have plenty of payed chargers. Unfortunately most of them are 20-25 KW, with a few 50 kW stations mixed it. And they don't work half the time unless you're in the capital. In which case you don't need chargers at all because you are standing still in traffic consuming almost no energy... It's also annoying to have wind whistle at certain speeds in a car this expensive. Ergonomics seem terrible. Navigation is super laggy. I'm not impressed.
@MarekDrivesENG2 жыл бұрын
That wind noise may have something to do with active aerodynamics. It was somewhere between 110-115 km/h in high suspension setting. Or maybe it was a sign "lower the suspension" :)

It depends. Charging at home in Poland costs (rough conversion from PLN to EUR) 15 euro cents. Fast charging, depending on the charging speed, time you spend on the charger, subscription fee, etc. may cost up to 70-80 euro cents per kWh. Driving around the city is usually the cheapest, because the car uses less/recuperates more energy, and you can slow charge at home. Conversely driving on the highway uses more energy, and costs more to charge. This trip with fast chargers it cost roughly 27 kWh (per 100 km) x 8 (as in 800 km) x 0.70 EUR = 150 euro. I don't know how much it would cost on Ionity in somewhere in Western Europe.
