Mercedes used to be the ultimate quality, but after the M273 issue where oil seeps right thru the cam sensors, thru the wiring harness to the ECU, and later the M278 engines with cylinder 5 sleeve pressed in wrong, I just have to say Wow, maybe it's time to buy a Chevy.

I would suggest putting in a ford or any thing else but the original motor. lol

Anastasios Sakkos I watched the video, it looks like a 278 engine, sounds like timing chain is making the noise but I might be wrong, it’s hard to determine without diagnosis, there are two tensioners one on each bank you’ll have to remove the head covers to see them, check if the timing chain starched..

Thank you very much. Interesting ting is that it only happens when engine is warm . Had tensioners replaced less than 500 miles ago. Only other guess I had was cam shaft adjuster / hydraulic lifters

Ouch, just outside warranty.. I would trade in for new car. Dunno if it's worth paying 5k+ for repair

Genuine question. Why is it $7,000? What's so expensive about this repair?
