Don't buy a Mercedes without watching this video & see the whole story. I learned that these "amazing" cars can be more expensive than you could possibly imagine. Save yourself losing thousands of dollars by knowing what you are getting into BEFORE even thinking about buying a MERCEDES BENZ.

Ur video resonated with me. About 2 years ago we got rid of our 2011 MBZ ML350. It was a great looking SUV. But there was always something wring with it and it cost a fortune to maintain. It was not reliable either. We spent thousands after a check engine light came on. Within 24hrs of getting it repaired, the check engine light came on again. We sold it the next day and bought an Infiniti. Unless I win the lottery, I will never buy another MBZ. Actually, even if I did win the lottery, I would buy a Lexus or Acura or another Infiniti.

@@SilverCymbal Yup. I guess Mercedes puts way too much tech? I honestly don't need that much luxury, even if I win the lottery. And if I win the lottery, I would take my family on a dream vacation traveling around the world. And I would also donate some of the lottery money to charities of course. In terms of which luxury I would buy, I guess I would pick the Lexus LS500. What car would you buy if you won the lottery? Just curious.

I always buy mine certified used, 2-3 years old. Half the cost of new, most of the kinks already worked out, and still have the outstanding Mercedes factory warranty service (plus they add a year extended warranty free of charge). You don't buy a Mercedes to save on the cost of gas or oil changes, you buy it because it meets your personal needs and lifestyle.

I just bought a GLE 350 SUV (2200 miles). It’s the nicest vehicle I’ve ever had. The interior lights don’t make it so I can’t see out the windows. The controls are VERY intuitive and easy to use. The HVAC system couldn’t be more simple. If you can’t figure it out, we’ll, that’s on you, sir. I couldn’t give a squeak about the logo being displayed “everywhere”, and I certainly didn’t pay extra for the feature. And as far as the resale issue goes: I was able to get into this GLE 350 because when I showed up for my first service interval with my previous SUV, a GLC 300, the manager of the dealership asked if I’d be interested in trading it in. Since I’d only had it for seven months, I laughed and said that I couldn’t afford the depreciation. They actually gave me almost what I paid for it AND made such a terrific deal on this GLE 350 that it would have been idiotic not to take the deal. Experiences differ. I get that. But your free trial couldn’t have been so bad that you’re warning people away from the brand. You just sound butthurt that some folks are paying over $60,000 for an SUV. It isn’t a crime to have and enjoy a few nice things.

You cannot compare a Mercedes, bmw or Audi to Honda, Toyota. Different class of car. Different demographic of buyers. I have owned several Mercedes and currently have a e-class and have had no issues with them at all. I get all my cars serviced at a local garage but use genuine parts. Cars do not need to go back to dealers. That's a choice you make. As for servicing - my Honda Civic had a fairly standard service schedule based on mileage or time just like my e-class does. None of the Japanese cars have a 100000 mile service schedule. That's a stupid thing to say. Premium brands charge more. That works everywhere if you buy clothes, jewellery, watches, glasses.
@dex6316
@dex6316 Жыл бұрын
Premium brands do charge more, but Mercedes has stupid charges that don’t really make sense. This car is also horrible at doing basic car things by making it inconvenient to drive and use the car fully. If you notice he also brought up Lexus, a premium brand. The parts in the Mercedes have lower longevity, so you need servicing for parts that aren’t necessary in a Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus until 100K. My friend has a Mercedes, and his air vent was rattling less than 6 months after he bought it. It was very annoying, and adjusting that vent became impractical. Seeing the headlights having water in them, has made me very concerned for the Mercedes build quality. Luxury brands being premium is perfectly fine. But you should get a luxury experience that makes driving easier and more comfortable for passengers. Not paying more for features that make your experience worse. If you want German, go Audi or BMW (although I’ve heard BMW’s aren’t great for reliability either). Japanese luxury brands are also excellent. But a brand that makes maintaining the car difficult through proprietary nonsense, and using cheap parts that fail quickly to nickel and dime you when you’ve paid 50-100 grand is not true luxury.

In Europe they are used as taxi cabs that go over 400k miles. Most cars depreciate 50% in three years. Luxury cars even more so. Not all MB are great. Just like not all Honda and Toyota's are great. The Honda Odyssey was a lemon with a bad transmission that Honda refused to fix for over a decade. Toyota's also have 4x4 transmission issues. The S class is the pinnacle of technology. It's expensive. Well maintained they last a long time. The ML and GLE vehicles are very reliable and durable. The newer suv is junky i agree.

@@islandon22 nope. Mercedes E-Class are incredibly reliable. I use FCP Euro for parts (lifetime guarantee on all parts including oil and trans fluid). Spark plugs $8ea vs $45ea at the dealer 🤷🏾‍♂️ Also a Mercedes oil change cost the same as any other car and they're way easier to do yourself. Literally pop the hood, shove a tube down the dipstick pipe, use an extractor, and within 5 to 10min you're done. While waiting swap in a new oil filter and change the air filter. Full Service A done, and you won't get dirty doing it. The w212 chassis are hitting 1m miles and if you look to many other countries outside the US, Mercs are the car of choice. Granted Toyotas are just as reliable. I literally just change oil, air filter and tires 🤷🏾‍♂️ until it's time to do spark plugs. My E350 is the most reliable car I've owned next to my old 2002 Civic SI. I've owned around 10 other vehicle's from VW, Kia, Chevy, Mitsubishi, BMW, Nissan, Honda and Toyota. The problem with Toyotas is there suspension is trash. I drive a lot and was having back problems with my Corrola then the same with the Camry and I've tried the blue gel seat pads. They just don't do well on rough roads, especially the Corrola. Mercedes-Benz cars are definitely reliable and in truth are better suited for the owner willing to turn a wrench.

FYI, the height of the head-up display can be adjusted so as not to obstruct your vision. The brightness of the display can be adjusted as well. It's not that hard if you actually go into the function using the steering wheel controls or just try reading the manual. Try driving a Chrysler 300 if you want to know what a real piece of crap is.
@Sawashi32
@Sawashi32 4 жыл бұрын
Robert Anon Except a Chrysler 300 doesn’t cost a premium arm and a leg when brand new, and a 300 doesn’t lose almost half of it’s insane premium value in just two years like a typical Merc does, and a 300 doesn’t have a million little crazy, unnecessary and expensive little electronic components that barely all work together and fail anytime the wind blows, and basic vehicle maintenance or repairs on a 300 wouldn’t cost as much as two months car payments. All in all your comparison was weak and desperate. Maybe the Chrysler 300 is a crappy car like you claim, I’ve never owned one. But if we’re going to compare a relatively dirt cheap Chrysler’s quality to that of a “premium” car like a Mercedes Benz like you’ve done then it absolutely must be pointed out that these two brands are on two completely different levels of expectations based solely on their overall effects to ones bank accounts.

Rob S I take it you either didn’t see or didn’t read the part of my comment where I said “I’ve never owned one” 🤔 The OP just made an extremely poor, weak and irrelevant comparison between Mercedes and Chrysler hence my comment. Two entirely different brands with different purposes on different planes and completely different pros and cons. Personally I’ve never owned a Chrysler and don’t plan to just talking the honest and obvious truth. Oh, and since you’re asking, I daily drive a 2006 Nissan Xterra SUV and for hobby and for fun I own a 2016 fully loaded Camaro SS that I’m in progress of heavily modifying to eventually make 700 to 800 horsepower. The depreciation is why I bought both of my Mercedes used. I got a great price on each and love them. No squeaking and they’ve both been super reliable and comfortable. all high end luxury cars depreciate like a stone after you buy them: Lexus, BMW, even Bentley and rolls. That’s why buying used is often a smarter move if you want to own a car like that.

I would hazard to guess that the majority of the individuals buying 0 mile high end mercedes are leasing rather that purchasing; ergo the CPO programs. I totally agree with you. I love having the option to purchase a vehicle that was $100,000 new for 2/3 - 1/2 the price a couple years later that is certified, and usually with an extended company warranty. Currently all of our family cars have been purchased this way, and once you pass a certain point the re-sale value levels out. The poster makes his point, but really what car company does not come with the same issues and same devaluation. The trick to owning these cars is in understanding where the parts etc. come from. Like many companies the parts etc. are not special to the car. They are often made for other cars under a different logo but identical, and much cheaper. It does not matter if you take your car to a MB dealer or a GM dealer for service you are going to get hit in the shorts, the flat rate always get you. I question the individual who owns a mercedes regardless of how wealthy they are that takes the MB to the dealership to get an oil change. Any shop can do basic maintenance, only when it comes to issues that require specific scanning tools would I go that route and even then there are plenty of Indy shops that specialize in servicing high end cars that can do anything an MB shop can do for a fraction of the price, not to mention there is so much information available online etc. it really becomes a question of how much are you willing to, can you do yourself. A $20 shop manual download will empower you and save you a lot of money. Perhaps the poster should make a video about the "potential" pitfalls of purchasing an MB and the many ways to circumvent the same instead of making one stating "never" buy a MB.

The reason for a heads-up display is to be able to see your speed and other info without taking your eyes off the road. The display does not obstruct your view it blends with it. Safety is big with Mercedes and they pride themselves on it. The sensors get packed with snow and do alert you, but they are working. You can simply disable them until the snow is cleared. If it wasn't snowing, those same sensors would be saving you from an accident. You'll find all cars that have crash protection and life safety sensors will all act up when they are blocked, not a Mercedes exclusive issue. If your LED lights are too bright, you might want to dim them down a bit, pretty simple like every other adjustment you can make in any car. OK I'll give you the rear seat clearance sucks, but if you really need to sit 7 people, you're better off with a full size vehicle like a Yukon or Escalade not a smaller SUV. Oil changes can be done once a year or twice a year, your choice. They are expensive, but not much more than changing your oil every 3 - 5k miles. Add up the costs.

If you buy expensive car and you are worried with depreciation then you should not buy expensive car, it's same with every car brand, even cheap cars depreciate rapidly that's how market works, and depreciation does not mean you lose something, that car drives to success not matter what car is, if you buy brand new Mercedes and don't earn as much as cost of new Mercedes in period you drive that Mercedes you should not own one (most of first owners change it in 5 years) . I have a 2016 C class with 50000 miles on it by now and no problems so far. Service costs at the dealership have been around $700 per year for regular A or B service. Not cheap but not overly expensive either and you're covered by the Mobilo warranty for a year if something happens. The problem with sensors icing up in the winter is a common problem with all cars more or less. The value depreciation is not as fast here in Europe, must be something to do with the american car market in general I guess.

I have a 2001 E320 I bought used in . I did not have much problem just normal wear and tear. The ride, the seats still are more comfortable even compare to other brands' brand new. So I bought another used R500. Since I bought used, the price was so low and I got to enjoy all the comfort and luxury features. It is a joy to drive and so comfortable for both driver and passengers especially on those long trips. And those are just bonus, the main reason I bought Mercedes is its safety. I talked to quite a lot of customers, some of the Mercedes owners told me how they walked away from collisions with minor or no injury while the other side needed ambulance. Look up an accident on Brookhurst in Fountain Valley CA happened on 05/04/2021, all occupants on a KIA SUV died while the 2 persons in the Mercedes sedan got out and got to the hospital on their own. For more than 10 years that I owned the car I put regular gas most of the time and only put premium when on long trips and it seemed OK. To each their own, for me I am willing to spend extra for extra protection.
