And the biggest shame is we can't get an S600 anymore, let alone a non AMG "something" Mercedes! It got killed, because the company made the way for the stupid "sport" and AMG packages, I am sick of them everything has to be "sporty" and have AMG written somewhere on it! What happened to the classic Mercedes-Benz with the star on the bonnet, the classy and understated look, the car you drive because of it's comfort and class, a real S-CLASS! "No customer" you have to buy our S63 instead you have to be loud with farting and poping exhaust and be "Sporty" you can't have an old school Mercedes". Everyone who's been on the market for a new Mercedes knows what I am trying to say, and that the sellers at their dealerships always try to convince you to get the god damn "sport/AMG package" instead for the normal car for God's sake! No matter how much you tell them you don't want it they keep proposing it. Even the car in the video has the stupid AMG package, it's an S600 not an S65, nothing sacred is left untouched from the legacy of the Mercedes-Benz brand!

@@dmer-zy3rb You missed the whole point of my comment! What I wanted to say is if I want to buy an AMG I want a REAL one, not an ordinary Mercedes with AMG pack/sporty pack etc. They denied us the right to buy the classic Mercedes look, by pushing this stupid "Sport" craze, where everything has to have the Sport pack, sport suspension, sport seats, sport steering wheel, sport rims, sport whateverthef***. Do you get it now? They devalued both brands now if you want an AMG some guy with a diesel C-class can order AMG something on it, and it's no longer special, and if you want an elegant understated look with the star on the bonnet, your choices are literally none except the Korean looking Hyundai/Kia new W223 S-class, which AGAIN looks "sporty" even in the basic form! I am/was a fanatical Mercedes fan, but these people who are now behind the company, pushed me towards other brands. I can no longer relate with the Mercedes-Benz brand, simply because they took away what I liked about it! And don't get me started on the devaluing of the Maybach brand. Only thing they care is money (I get that company needs money, but not by turning your back on your legacy). They try to appeal to the chinese and their lack of taste by making asian looking cars with massive grills (BMW and Audi are the same). Oh and the people at Daimler also lately love to be "woke"! Which makes me wanna puke really!

Drove on the autobahn in a rented, standard transmission, Toyota Yaris, maxed out at 160 kph, pedal to the floor, at night in a light rain, for more than an hour and it was the most enjoyable drive ever. Only moved to the outside lane to pass, slowed down at bridges that had posted maximum speeds. This type of driving keeps your attention and awareness on maximum but is also relaxing as you feel you’re getting somewhere. Here we are stuck puddling along at 100 kph because most people in Canada can’t drive. They need their radar cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and don’t know what the left lane is for.

Just look at that timeless exterior design, and the interior is still from the era of Mercedes when elegance and massive build quality was the focus, not the insane tech features that later generations provide with the MBUX system - but in exchange, they lack the level of solid build quality and elegance that this era of Mercedes cars, and especially this generation of the S-Class offered. @@christophermarshall5765 plenty of people prepare for passing trucks and misjudge the speed of the car coming from behind. However, these are not the idiots, the fast one is. Recommended speed is still 130 km/h. There are places and times where the autobahn is much more empty and suited for such experiments.
@christophermarshall57652 жыл бұрын
@@skyex5047 those preparing to pass the the trucks should wait until the car approaching from behind at speed has passed. Here in South Australia, our major highways are 110 in most areas, with others being 100. I have been a driver approaching traffic doing just under the speed limit, & change lanes to overtake slower vehicles, when another vehicle misjudged my speed, pulled out in front of me. I've then needed to step on the brakes, when I should not have needed to. Who is the "idiot" here? NOT ME, because I was NOT speeding at the time!! The stretch of autobahn where this took place has no speed limit, & this is CLEARLY indicated in the video. For this reason, the vehicles not moving out of his way are the idiots.
@skyex50472 жыл бұрын
@@christophermarshall5765 Of course, I understand and agree that you can't change lanes when someone faster is approaching from behind. However, a speed difference of 10 km/h (110 vs 100) is not the same as 160 km/h (260 vs 100). If you're a really skilled driver in the slower car, you look properly and see that the car in the mirror is approaching really fast even though it appears that he's still far away. In an everyday situation with a less skilled driver this may not be the case. The car in the mirror seems to be sufficiently far away for you to change lanes and pass the truck, but it's not at that speed difference. In fact, two rules apply here: 1) You have to drive in a way that you are able to compensate for other's misjudgement as much as possible. (This is rule nr 1 in German traffic laws) 2) If you're going faster than 160 (I think) then you're partially guilty in any type of accident by default. (I think that's actually based on 1). P.s. "no speed limit" means "recommendation is 130" on German autobahn. Just saying, a situation like at 4:07 can be plain deadly. And if you do it for a KZbin video, just go let's say at 5 am on a Sunday morning somewhere with less traffic, in the north east or whatever.

Lane discipline is strictly enforced on the autobahn. Staying in the left lane and blocking faster traffic will get you a large fine, as it is for passing only. That’s one of the reasons that the autobahn is safer than our interstates despite not having a speed limit in many areas.
@edombre46372 жыл бұрын
