Thanks for the videos - 235,000 miles on this great engine and still running like a top. Got a couple small oil leaks but it's really not worth bothering to fix them (rear main seal and oil level sensor). The 2000 E320 it's in has served my family well. First my wife drove it for many years, then my two sons tortured the poor thing through their high school and college years, yet it still refuses to die. It's truly amazing that after all these miles, I've only had to put cat's and motor mounts (twice on both) + a small handful of miscellaneous minor things. I do maintain it religiously though. If anything major goes wrong with this car, I can pick up another used one with a lot fewer miles and in better condition for ~ $1500. Mercedes had their act together on this one. I've owned a couple other models that weren't quite as reliable.

M112 doesn't have variable valve timing / lift. Only variable intake lenght. Also it is good to point out that it has double chain.

I am about to buy a c 320 with the m112 engine... I have been told about its reliability.... but if I was to change the oil myself, can I use an oil pump and aspirate the oil through the dipstic tube-?

Hi John, just bought my C320 w208 with 3.2L 215hp V6. I can say that its worth it! 176k miles and runs smooth in Freeway 101 Los angeles hahahaha I can go 100mph

had one in my 1999 c280. was a very good engine and took tons of abuse till i hit a deer at 195,000 and needed a new fuel pump. watch out for the fan belts on these, they can wear out and slip off, it almost happened to me

Do it yourself. Different crankshaft and a different connecting rod. It's just a stroked 32

@@no-damn-alias The 3.7 has bigger pistons. The 3.2 has 89.9mm pistons and the 3.7 is bored to 97mm...

I have this engine in my Vito W639 from 2003, I love this engine, very powerful and smooth. I have not experienced any problems with the engine except for one thing. Engine fails to start sporadically, does not crank. If I hold the gear stick in P (automatic) to the left it will always start. Any ideas ?

Raúl Pino your shifter may need replacing. Have you ever accidentally spilled water, coffee or and fluid onto the shifter? There is a tarter safety lock out switch built in

m112 engines have bad piston slap noise.

I agree if oil is neglected lifters will be noisey passage holes are like pin holes! My tick bugging me for over 2 years lol

@@rickdoggent3829 Have on of these 300K+ KM's and its as quiet as a mouse. No engine tick. BUT religiously change oil every 10K KM's!!

@@Enigma6954 yea dude totally agree i change it at around 7k cause im abit rough on it. Mine unfortunatley was heavily neglected before i bought it now close to 300k. Im gonna tackle those lifters in a few weeks. My grandpas m112 is also quiet as a mouse

@@SavedbyHim unfortunately I havent had the time to fix it yet. Lifters have been ficking for 5 years now. Not gonna do much harm imo I just make sure to change my oil every 5k strictly! And add a liqui molly lifter additive along with fresh oil
