I went to a car show a couple days ago and I met this woman maybe in her 60s and she had a 280SL and I asked her how long she had it and she said it’s been a part of her family since 1986. When she said that, I was amazed that one car could be owned by one person for so long and not break down at all

w124 300E usa export then got back to germany.28 Years 1 owner.Still have it with the factory palamino interior.Build year 85/11.Drove like 3500 km on holiday.Never got problem.

How much money is cheap is a subjective matter, but you can buy one of these for only couple thousand euro which is very cheap to my opinion but ofcourse they gonna be in very bad condition. in europe good ones around 10-20k(sometimes less or more depends on country) euro which still I think not a lot of money for good condition w124 e class. This car will last till you die and you will enjoy everytime you get in it.
