Mercedes C320 steering angle sensor replacement c1140

The steering angle sensor is pretty simple and easy to change out. MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE MESSING WITH THE AIRBAG!!!
Wait a good 5 to 10 mins before disconnecting the airbags.
I always mark all steering wheels out of habit but this mercedes is already marked.
tools needed
10mm allen
t30 torx
small flat head
phillips head
scanner to clear the codes

The problem of my car was that the angle sensor was dirty, i recommend clean the angle sensor (has a groove with opto electectronics devices), great video Thanks a lot!!

Thank you for this video! Everything looks nice and easy. Please tell me if you tested the sensor prior to replacing it? My 97 W140 S-Class has multiple errors related to the steering sensor N49. Before I go shopping I'd like to make sure I'm doing everything right. TIA.

Thanks for the video! My traction control was kicking on in my 05 C320 around hwy clover leafs so i took it in. The dealer quoted 900+ to replace it, I know i can do it myself after watching this video, the part number given to me is 164-646-15-18 in case anyone needs it. Thanks again!

Is this also called steering toqrue sensor? Because my huinday acccent 2007 has a problem with the EPS system and someone said me that the toqrue sensor of the steering column may be the problem

+spiroslouis1 no this one is a little diff it senses where the steering wheel is so if it thinks its off while going straight it will think its in a skid and apply the brakes

hello Cody i have a 2001 c 320 i already change the steering angle sensor and i still have the code c1140-004 N49(steering angle sensor )Signal not present any idea what to check next before i go crazy thank you

+sgolsen no it didnt have to be calibrated there is only one way to install it so you really cant get it off or wrong

Uh huh, you clearly missed the part that tells the viewers to be extremely careful when removing that tight steering wheel bolt.. it’s literally extremely tight on there. Many have destroyed things by using the steering wheel locking mechanism to remove that bolt..
