Too much maintenance 😩😩😩 mercedes is my dream car but i will keep driving my honda accord 2007 , i drive monthly 5000 km equals to this e55 whole year mileage and i m not spending more than 300 US$ per year exclude oil change ...i do oil change every month.....so i will wait until i m that much rich to afford german vehicle🙄

@@happiieee7881 I own the previous generation E55 and I also owned a 1997 Civic at the same time. Maybe I got lucky, but the civic I had required more maintenance then the AMG. The civic was the one to leak oil and over heat.

I had someone pull up in a parking spot next to me, in their rental car. The front and rear passengers carelessly opened their doors, and banged it against mine. I popped my head out of my car and chewed them out. When they later came back to their car, the driver decided to back out of the parking spot before letting his passengers get it. They learned their lesson.

That happens in every country, you either don't park it places that worry you or you put up with it and factor paint repairs into your running costs.

@@popuptoaster True, however there are countries where majority of people are aware and will leave their number. This is why I generally take pictures of the cars around me just in case. Had a buddy of mine solving the problem by reporting that to the police and they found the car who caused the damage.

@@deyoviC can't see how taking pictures helps out, doesn't prove who hit your car, police usually wont take action here even if you have dash cam footage they are not interested if no one is injured.

I've owned my 04 for about 5 years now and in that time I've had to do; rear main, rocker covers, oil filter housing leak, replace fuel pumps and sender, injector and rail clean/over haul, new plugs four times due to fouling, both front airmatic struts, both rear airbags, every control and bushing, repair 3 out of 4 cracked wheels, alignment 4 times, engine and trans mountings, drive belt, door lock actuators, new led tail light, other serviceable and fluid items and other misc stuff I can't even remember lol... Any normal person would have got rid of it long ago but I still love it and want to hold onto it as long as I can.

I have a 04 for two years. Only had alignment and trans flush done (plus did oil changes, of course). I still have a leaking main seal and cracked manyfold. I think all the stuff you mentioned is to be expected on one of these cars unless the previous owner already did it. Fortunately in my opinion the parts for these cars are still priced relatively reasonably. I am looking forward to having the main seal, longtube headers, wavetrac LSD, engine and trans mounts done this year. Then everything should be sorted!

Your car is mint and super clean! I have an 06’ Slk55 Amg with the same motor as yours without the supercharger. Currently at 63k miles. Only major repair was the Rear Main Seal.

I gotta watch your other vids on this E55 so sorry if you answered these questions before but I'm curious as to why this car needed such extensive work like rear main seal replacement at only 43k miles. Do you think this car was sitting for a long time and many rubber components/seals deteriorated because of lack of use? I know rear main seals are common for the m113/722.6 powertrain (mine was leaking pretty good on my 03' CLK500 but that was at 200k miles) but I'm surprised it was needing replacement at 43k miles, is that common? I was gonna ask about the conductor plate, but just saw your other video. I'm kind of surprised the dealer stripped that brass bolt, but I know it is very sensitive to torque, maybe it wasn't well known at the time or just a careless tech?

My story is owning the 2007 S65 AMG ReenTECH which I've replaced the coilpack left side, all 24 spark plugs, starter, batteries front in back, including the ECU from Germany. Now you have a argument to own if you get my drift, But,. WOW what a car! NOTHING LIKE IT!

I would say that overall an e55 would be the more reliable car. However, the e63 isn't bad by any means. The engine on the e63 just has more things to look out for which I outlined in my m156 video. The only thing really worse about the E55 is the SBC brake pump going bad but there is an extended warranty in the US for that so it's not a concern.

Holly Yesus that's a magnificent car. Actually is the car of my dreams. However I'm realistic I will never own one. I live in an European country and the taxes each year on such an engine are simply crazy. You can buy another second hand W211 AMG like every 2 years from the money spent with taxes alone.

Stock tires are 245/40/18 front, and 265/35/18 rear. I have wider SL550 wheels on this car with 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear.

nice car.. I too have a 05' w/ approx. 120K miles, zero mechanical issues in over 50K miles of driving (including 150+ mph driving many times) except for front suspension bushings and components. On a separate note do you know if later 2010 M156 motors are exempt from headbolt and cam wear issues that were common on early E63 motors? Thanks for the vid!

Yes, some later 2010 m156 motors are exempt from head-bolt issues past engine #60658 (you can check this with any vin decoder). But, cam wear issues can affect the later cars as well.

Yes, I have the SL550 wheels that were on the previous car. The car is lowered with aromatic lowering links.

@@AMGmeister It seemed to me like those wheels are a bit wider 🤩 I'm also waiting the 2 piece 19 inch staggered rims (65 AMG grey rims) for my 05 CL55. Only problem is i found out after placeing the order they are the CLS W219 rims which came with the P30 package and are 19mm wider. I really hope they will fit. Lots of my maintanence work is inspaired by your videos and i love the fact you also use Lemforder parts and torque down everything to spec. As for a different issue, you mentioned is this video changing the control arms and ball joints just for a refresh. I really need a good advice about if the control arms need replacement. Can i shoot you an e-mail for an opinion?

Very nice! If I may ask, as I do not think this has been answered in one of the previous vids: why did you swap your E55s? It does not seem like you are relying on the cars to do vids and have KZbin content. Seems like you are making the vids just for fun. You had a very nice silver E55. Why did you get this one? I am usually very much attached to my cars. So I have owned my 88 Saab 900 Turbo 16S/Aero/SPG for 25 years now, my Volvo 850 R for 15 years, my 04 E55 for two years and I do not intend to get rid of anything shortly. I had some cars that I sold in the meanwhile, though. But that was only because I lived in the US for a while and got rid of them when we were done there.
