well idk about that. a 911 in uk goest for about 10k. bring it to a speed shop and pour another 15k into it to have it all done and you might be looking at better brakes, suspension and a bit more power with a lot less weight behind it. also a better drivers car.

You know i disagree with you Doug, i think this is the ultimate car. Its faster than a Ferrari 360 and has almost as much interior space as a Range Rover. Its not as flashy as a Ferrari but who cares, if you buy a car just to attract attention to yourself you clearly have size issues. $100,000 is a bit steep but considering that it can outrun cars that cost twice as much, i think its fairly reasonable.

+Riswan Ahmad P Exactly! I have the 2011 sedan (the wagon actually tracks a little better with more weight over the rears) and its astonishingly fun to keep up with the Mustang/Camaro crowd. You can do things that should not be possible in a 4,300 lb car, then drive home in comfort. Amazingly good vehicles. Don't forget that on the same day an E63 beat the Camaro by 3 seconds on the Top Gear track (season 15 IIRC), and this one is significantly more powerful.

Michael James My last AMG service cost me $1111. But lets be honest here, how much wouldnt a ferrari service cost compared to that? And yes, E63 AMG has one of the best milage out there for this kind of engine. My 2012 E63 AVG MPG is 16.1. Isnt that incredible? Have fun getting beat by a minivan, with 4 passengers LOL.

Doug, THANK YOU for inspiring me to buy this car... I found a 2014 pearl white w/ black ashwood interior. It makes me SMILE way too much. True Story... I was over at the local Lamborghini dealership and after I was done there, one of the salesman told me he'd seen me drive up and that my wagon was "really fast"... and this guy is working at a Lamborghini dealership... THAT put a smile on my face! Thanks Again!

I love the gas station feature on the gps I use it on my chevy Tahoe 2012 when the gas gets low it beeps a few times and pulls up do you want to find near by gas stations. It has saved me quite a few times

Sure it may cost $120k off the lot, but wait a few years and it will be a steal. The wonders of MB depreciation. Not to mention its a killer all around car. Having one car to store, maintain, and insure makes it that much more practical.

There's also the reason for depreciation, though: German reliability. You don't want to own one out of warranty. They're not really designed to be cars so much as desirable fashion items that get swapped out by rich people when the trend changes every 3 years. You wouldn't want your country club buddies to see you in *gasp* last year's body style. And why would you, Joe financially literate Rich Person, tie up $120k in an asset that won't be worth a third of that by the time the next one comes out when you can just make monthly lease payments, keep investing what would've been the down payment, and hop into a new one in 3 years now, no strings attached, which you would've done anyway. Or if you really love the current one, lease to own with only its now depreciated value left on the balance? Their lease rate is, like 80% or something equally ridiculous, and the longevity of the car reflects that. A 2-3 year old Mercedes *would* be a steal, though. Half price or sometimes even less, and it's still got a few years left under warranty. When the warranty ends, though, sell it for whatever you can, before you get hit with a $8,000 electrical repair and the car's not even worth that anymore.

I'm constantly finding out new things about this car. So, I figured out that you CAN advance through songs from the steering wheel *if* you set the display in the center of the speedometer to "audio"... which means I don't get the AMG display info I prefer. Then (and only then) the arrow keys work for moving though the play list.

This car is badass Doug. I would totally buy this if I had that kind of money. Throw some aftermarket aggressive rims and a murdered out matte black finish paint job with 5% tint all around and you have the baddest wagon on the streets. To be fair, our Hyundai Santa Fe has that same feature where the nav system can search for gas stations. It's not nearly as fast, but that feature is not exclusive to six-figure cars.

Also good for the Danish market, where a station wagon (minus the back seats) costs half as much to register as the equivalent sedan.
