It could also be that the relay, since it's mechanical, gets old and the connection no longer have the correct surface. It is also a bit easier to disconnect the relay and measure instead of in the ecu. If there is 12v to the relay it's most likely the relay. Thank so much for your videos Keith!

A faulty park neutral switch was problem in our 2017 Mercedes Sprinter (2018 Pleasure Way). It was never diagnosed correctly by Mercedes dealers until I found the dealership in Rocklin California. They fixed it under warranty and we have never had this problem again.

I have the same problem in my gas 2011 ML350 when hot, specially during summer hot sun at noon, the car does not crank at all and no dashboard lights just like the battery is completely dead. Please tell me how that can be fixed?!

Faulty Crank Angle Sensor will also give you similar symptoms. Cheap part, but a bit of contortion may be required to replace it on certain models. Typically, the car while die when coming to a full stop (e.g. Stop light) after it gets hot. Then the car may not start for a while after that. However, after a few minutes, the car starts up again.

If want to check the relay fast use a air compressor and blow cold air on it and it wil start in seconds . Also works on crank and position sensors .

This just happen to me. Me and my son was coming home and just a block from my home, it died. Wouldn't restart, so we towed it home with the help of a friend. The next day it started fine. It had been not driven for serval months since it was used by my EX - my sons mother. I felt it needed a tone up because it ran rough at times, shaking at idle and it seemed to have miss firing going on. I replaced the plugs, tested it and made a block. It still was running a little rough but better. Like you said in the video. I let it run in my driveway for about 30 minutes and it died while me and my 9 year son were just sitting inside talking and it wouldn't restart either. Thanks for this video Sir. At least I have more clues to address the issue. I was also considering the crack sensor but I will start here first. Again awesome video - Thanks

I have the problem that it takes a lot of time to start when the car its hot/warm near to 90 Celcius... we have changed all the sensors of the engine. fuel pressure is ok and no check engine light, also no error on the scanner.. any help please? its a ml350 w164

so many videos, so little time. Your videos are helpful and I'm learning a lot. Gives me confidence when I speak to professionals. I have a 2009 gl550. Yesterday, it seemed to have an electric malfunction. AC, going off/on, battery(red) & other fleshing on the dash. Periphery lights going haywire. Then after about 5 minutes, just as suddenly as it started, it stopped and everything functioning normally. Until this morning, dash and interior lights but no ignition. Any suggestions?

ok my 2000ML430 nay have 2 issues. I have random NO start but turns over, I thought it may of been ignition immoblisier transponder, Orderd it waiting. But, randomly key sticks in the ignition, That may be the tumblers. And When the truck has been running it stalled today with turn over no start. SO wondering if I have fuel snensor or pump issues too. Dang it! lol letting it cool at aprking lotup the road, gonna check it in an hour see if it starts cold.

Hi, thank you for an informative video. My ML350 CDi starts and then dies. Have you ever come across this problem? It runs for 1-3 seconds and then dies. It has new low and high pressure pumps, new fuel rail pressure sensor, new fuel rail pressure regulating valve, new fuel filter, 6 new injectors, new fuel pump relay, new cam shaft sensor, turbo refurbished. Because of the struggling I now have to replace the battery. Day 1 after coming from workshop it starts easily, day two it starts and runs but shudders a bit and then runs perfectly. The next day it starts for 1 second and dies. Then its dead.

1986 MB300E W124 Cold start no problem, hot start hesitates and often takes time until cooling off. Few times after driving several miles engine went off at a stoplight. Pulled to the side waited 15 minutes and then cranked and engine started. $3k spent on repairs, changing, relays, fuel filter & pump, etc. Last mechanic told me to find another EZL. Is the EZL on my 1986 MB 300E repairable please?

Ha...metoo! SLK 350 171 2005. Engine warning light on and slow to start when hot. iCarSoft diagnosed crank angle sensor fault. After reset, all worked - for a couple of miles, then not. Local repair shop replaced sensor. End of drama.

Hey, nice video. I got the same problem. However on mine, the starter won’t even try, I just hear a click when I turn the key and that’s it. It also has to do with the water temperature I guess. If I open the hood and put cold water on the starter area, it will start faster. Weird stuff.

As Lars mentioned Nino. Engine is not really that hot !!! But the Relay could be. Stopping the ECU sending 12v to the pump relay.

Bro. Keith: it's better to start from the pump relay with a swap (plenty to choose from on rear SAM!) than back probing the ECU Pins. The front radiator fan RELAY is also a good candidate to keep healthy on high mileage vehicles 👍

Hey my man watch your videos all the time super helpful do you have no idea how much money you save me can’t thank you enough I was wondering if you could possibly shed some light on the current situation I’m having with my ML 500 W 163 body style I thought I had a starter issue because the truck would start. I had to get one click and that was it, so I replace the starter and I replace the battery. Then I replaced the relays and all the fuses tested them all all working or at least getting power to Changed the brake light sensor safety switch as well as the crankshaft position sensor. I just don’t know what else could be left. I start the car get one click and that’s it if I put direct power to the starter same thing one click and that’s it almost seems as if the fly wheel is possibly jammed or stuck. I took a look at it the best I could, and none of the teeth are missing or, even damaged for that matter from what I can see I’m seriously at a loss and just don’t understand what else could possibly be left. Thanks again for all the help of videos and hopefully he’ll respond to this at your convenience. Thanks again so much appreciate everything you do.

Hi mercedes c230 2006 starts you can hear pump, after a while shuts off and dies, after a while could be 1 hour or more if not hot outside otherwise till next day and pump works for a few minutes and shuts off

I had just this problem on my 2011 MB E350 Blutec that I just bought. I was going to go through the checking and thought I should have a new relay in case it was the cause. I got in to the trunk fuse panel and, lo and behold, there is no relay at all. There is a fuel pump fuse and I didn't look at any of the other boxes for missing fuses, but this one stumps me. Would there be a reason that there wouldn't be a relay? I checked four different diagrams and they all have the same placement for the diesel relay and there is no relay in the slot. How could this car be running? I'd love for it to be so simple as just pop in a relay and my car won't leave me sitting at a gas pump for half an hour again, but I'm afraid it's like that for a reason I don't know and I might wreck something if I put in a relay. Anybody know why there might not be a fuel pump relay in my starting and running MB diesel?
