The reason for the lower consumption for the EQS is because it has a lower drag coefficient than the EQE, and that’s because the longer back-end on the EQS reduces turbulence more than the EQE
@jkev14252 жыл бұрын
Drag coefficient ist as important as frontal area. If the EQS is 1cm wider it increases the wind resistance as well. It's the same factor. A * dragC. Is the EQS wider or higher then EQE? 🤔

@Fleix yes absolutely right! The longer, smoother back end is one of the biggest parts for reducing turbulence and hence reducing drag. The EQXX is a case in point, with the retractable "wing".

@@OverlordActual Ahh okay - with "Scan my Tesla" you have access to nearly everything in the car. Torque on steering wheel, %breake pedal pressed, watt used from heatpump. The reason for higher consumtion is that AMG models has different battery Managment and components that priorities performance and multiple laps on a race track to low consumption.
@Alexander-ig6jm2 жыл бұрын
EQS 580 4MATIC has a quoted weight of 2620kg vs. 2525kg for the AMG EQE 53+ this means the EQS has 3.8% higher mass and rolling resistance assuming roughly equal friction coefficients for the tires (which is probably not true here since you drove one on Goodyear Eagle F1 and the other on Continental VCZ). EQS 580 has a cd = 0.2 and a cross-sectional area (new German word for you "Stirnfläche") of 2.51m^2 whereas the EQE 53+ has cd = 0.22 and an (estimated) cross sectional area of 2.48m^2 which means that at the same speed and in the same environment the EQS experiences 8% less drag. At 90kph-120kph importance of drag and rolling resistance are about equal which means that drag advantage of the EQS overcompensates for its weight disadvantage. If you would compare range at city-speed, the EQE would probably get better than the EQS since here rolling resistance is more important. Of course there may also be secondary effects like differences in power consumption of subsystems of the vehicle, differences in options etc.
