So sad to see Mercedes following the same route as other car manufacturers, making the cars as cheaply as possible. Also as you're pointed out a 4 cylinder engine producing 255hp is crazy and is taking around a 2.2ton SUV. At least the W166 V6 diesel engine has its weak points but non the super cheaply used plastic parts as these newer ones. Thanks for sharing and great content. With the state of the bearings it would be good to replace them in the used glc engine that you've bought.

@@projectathos i know the engine , its a okey engine if you think of vw engine its a lot better and and way better the ecoboost ford , so i think you are unlucky there will always be engines that fail also from good manufactorers , we service mb 2,0 diesel with over 500000 miles on it show me another car branc that makes a 2,0 diesel that can do this , but we also see engien with low km fomr mb failing so to call it out thet mb is a bad manufactorer then there is no good

After 2018....MB let built their Engines by the French...(Renault) thats the reason why they junk...not reliabel german made..anymore..🤔

@motor_viking Dude i got a 2014 .313.4cyl 95hp Diesel sprinter from the UK....with 266k miles..my dad had many 207D MB vans from 1974.in the 90s..so .new from 2019 sprinters in Europe got french engines...maybe not on 5 or 6cyl.??for the USA..

Was the car abused by the owner? Looks like the engine was over revved to me.. over revved a lot... I am a BMW owner , I have had many E46's ,with M54 ,S54 engines, I modify all of my cars and i'm very hard on my cars, I have blown many of my engines due to over revving, but I also rebuild my engines myself, I do all of my own work,,. this engine that you are working on has classic signs of abuse.. just saying....

This is a family car we own and this car has Absolutely never been abused nor anything excessive! Proper maintenance before even regular timeframes! Oil changes only with Liqui Moly before even reaching 5000 miles! I have been dealing with and rebuilding engines for over 25 years to know what I see and realize certain things when I see them! Hence I know we didn't abuse this engine at all and the engine shows that something strange happened outside of normal expectations! I do agree with you on the abuse but when you have only specific parts wearing out like the Rod bearings and not the Main Bearings and then some parts of the Camshafts and not other, this is with Absolute Certainty pointing to defective or weak parts! This Lawn Motor Engine is so weak that Mercedes had to push more than 100Hp Extra Horses out of it to make sure this 5000 Lbs SUV would even move! This Engine is so clean inside that is completely mind boggling how the bearings spun Only in the Rod sides! I started laughing the first time I heard, years ago, that Car Manufacturers are putting 4 cylinder Engines in SUVs and Pickup Trucks and here is the result several years later! GMC Silverado Trucks with exploding engines at 500 miles! Check google! Then HONDA has managed to trigger NHTSA to investigate 1.4 Million vehicles with exploding engines while previously having a recall on 250,000 Honda vehicles including SUVs and VANS! Meanwhile TOYOTA and Lexus have the Problem with destroyed bearings on their New V6 Engines! So you are going to tell me that this is not on purpose?! Long and Behold We the Customers acting as Testing Mouse to see when and if we are going to start complaining about our New exploding cars! Check PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE my friend and Spread the Word!
