Mercedes Maybach SL 680 My Honest Opinion

Love the looks of it but I agree with you, a maybach should represent luxury and exclusivity but this car just looks like a facelift with no other aspects added to it

I agree with you hundered percent. But you should have also mention that Maybach cars don't look like Maybach at all. The real Maybach cars are 62s or 57s. But after these models, Mercedes created Maybach cars with only adding some chrome accents in exterior, and adding different leathers or exclusive colors in interior. This don't make a Mercedes a Maybach.

In my opinion, the Maybach and Performance V8 AMG don’t sound good together. Maybach means luxury as we have seen throughout the years, They should go with a V12 engine makes more sense to me.

People thought I was crazy when I said they should've made it a full EV instead of putting a AMG V8. Maybach has always been about luxury with a touch of performance I will admit, but their main criteria has always been luxury. If they used the same platform as the S-class, it would totally make sense. I know they're not gonna make a lot of them, but this is one of those cars that decades from now I doubt we will look back at it as a piece of Maybach monumental history. Will they maintain their value?Probably, Not sure if Merc/Maybach disclosed how many units they plan on selling.

The maybach logo everywhere looks extremely tacky to me. It’s something I would have thought of when I was in 3rd grade. I thought the maybach was supposed to be lowkey. I agree with you on everything else though.!

Maybach used to be special . The Maybach 57 and 62 were vastly different cars to the S class , even the interior was different . These new ones dont do it for me .

Normally I’d skip whenever you have a biased Mercedes opinion like when you talked about the g wagon but I gotta be honest here I really agree with you here.

I do agree with your take. It's a great car and they actually did a lot. Every piece of plastic is now leather wrapped in the inside. But when you look at a S650... the base car was much nicer. I think the SL is still very much a baller car (as a V8), but doing a Maybach out of it.. I don't know.

The tuning of the 4.0 V8 might be more inline with the Maybach GLS 600. I am personally not a fan of the new SL (or any modern Mercedes-Benz product) and to me the Maybach treatment doesn’t help it. You hit the nail on the head with the proportions being off and it looks like literally any other Mercedes you can buy.

They would’ve put the 5.5L v8 m157 in it if they still made that engine but they only make the 4.0 m177 now so they throw that engine in all their high power vehicles

Looks like a maybach made in china 😂 I have lost all hopes for Mercedes-Benz ... The GLS 63/Maybach is the only Mercedes that has kept its original looks and i love it ...
