Five years later you and video still helping people. Thank you from Texas. Just changed oil & filter 1982 300D first time. Previous owner for 25 years is a mechanic.

Very thorough. Thank you. I'm a gear head and own quite a few vehicles so oil changes may seem trivial and a "no brainer" but these cars are different to be sure. Just purchased a nice 300SD this weekend. Looking forward to tinkering with it and driving. Peace.

My Mercedes rides 10w40 oil (producer Lotos) but you can just as well 0w40.

What’s the deal with that filter? It looks completely wrong for a OM617. The filter should have perforated metal for about 2/3 of it’s length, and a paper element at the end. I try to stick to OEM suppliers like Bosch, Mann, Mahle, or Hengst. Not this generic Napa stuff.
@jrwyak6 жыл бұрын
That's nothing. You should see the scary filter NAPA sells for the 6.0 ford powerstroke. Scary stuff. I agree, stick with OEM unless there is a special reason to do otherwise.

Mann all the way.

Just stick with fcpeuro! They have those o rings included with their filter kits. Mann filter, hengst, and mahle!!!

@@Mmoustafa99 thanks for that tip! I replaced mine once but it was a goose hunt

Yes. I noticed that and almost freaked out, considering the filter I bought in Canada was as you described. Anyone have the Mercedes part number for those O-Rings on the bottom? Someone mentioned using the older CJ4 oil, but that is getting hard to find.

What size are those tires 205 or 215?

Sir, what oil do you recommend? Synthetic or usual dino oil?
