Hi Keith, I have watched a few of your video's So keep up the good work, I remembered this one from when I first got my ML280 and it helped me fast track the adjustment, I meant to login and pass on a piece of advice that you could add, You could add the direction to lever the cog, and it is a good idea to make sure the Caliper pads are not rubbing on the disk causing the effect of the brake being on slightly. Good luck in the future.

On a vito, the adjustment is done through one of the wheel bolt holes, and if you've got steel wheels on it, you have no need to even take the wheel off - just one bolt out! Surely, one should slacken the adjuster enough so the wheel spins without binding, not slacken back only as far as you can turn the wheel?

Quick question if u don't mind me asking: I own a 2011 SLK 350 in perfect shape EXCEPT for this one problem going on two years now. I have this clicking noise that seems to come and go and it sounds like it is directly behind the rear wheels. It speeds up when the car speeds up and vice versa and seems to vary in intensity during a drive down the strip. I've been to all the online forums and nobody seems to have had this issue before. Any chance it could be parking brake related? Anyways, keep up the good work my friend and a huge salute from balmy Las Vegas, Nevada...!

@iRepairAutos11 ай бұрын
When adjusting the emergency brake (e-brake or parking brake), it is generally not necessary to engage the e-brake while making the adjustment. In fact, it’s typically recommended to have the e-brake disengaged or in the “off” position during the adjustment process.

WOW that is not the propper procedure to adjust any internal rotor park brake shoes on any car. 1. back off the park brake cable fully to allow the internal park brake shoes to come back to rest and sit against the shoe adjuster stops [Points]. 2. remove the rear brake calipers to prevent a false reading of the park brake shoes when adjusting and to fully inspect the shoes and to clean them out. [Brake caliper pads also drag against the rotors] A false adjustment with the cable still tensioned will when the park brakes heat up will apply drag against the inner rotor and can cause danger to lock up of the rear rotors causing a car accident. Or not allowing the car to move at all when stopped. Or to wear out the park brake shoes way before time. [Costly exercise]. The adjustment. With the rotors now free to move on its own, remove the rotors and have a look at the park brake shoes them seleves. Why adjust the park brake shoes if their worn out. If they are ok, get 500 grit sand paper and scuff the shoes up to remove the shine. Shiny shoes won't make the park brake work correctly, and worse still in the wet when you may need the safety of the park brake more so. Also clean the brake dust away using proper procedures regarding brake dust. Ever applied the park brake and the car moves and then stops? thats due to the shoes being shiny and no friction because the inner part of the rotor where the shoes rub and the shoes themselves are both shiny. [scuff/roughen up the shoes and inside the rotors as well will allow good grip when the park brakes are applied]. If you have scuffed up the shoes and put the rotors back on and everything is clean, you can now adjust the park brake cam to allow the park brake shoes to lock against the rotor to prevent the rotors from turining. Doing this will allow the shoes to find center. to centeralize the shoes. Then slowy back the cam off until the rotors move and drag over the shoes. The drag should feel natural and not hard to move. If you feel the drag is a little weak, then the cable adjustment will take up the errors, hence why you slacken off the park brake cable and to allow the shoes to sit against the resting stops [Points]. With the cable still tensioned the shoes are off rest and the park brake is being aprtially applied. Once your happy with the results, now adjust the park brake cable. From fully off to applied you are looking for 6 ratchet clicks of the park brake leaver to give you a fully working and safe park brake. For any work on brakes, do the correct procedure and you will be safe. Doing non master tech half harted untrainned technician and unsafe work that you are taught on youtube will do you more harm then good, and will cost you more money that you don't have. Ask a qualified fully trainned Technician if you are unsure. Note. This procedure is all carried out by qualified technicians when you pay to have the job done correctly at your service center. But now if you follow the correct procedure you to at home can do the same thing. Plus you won't have to fix your silly mistakes that cost you money by non qualified teachers. Work smarter not harder... Keith with respect. Teach the correct procedure or close the channel down. Someone is going to get seriously injured or killed while you teach people BS unsafe techniques and you shouldn't be lending any techniques whilst not being a fully qualified technician, because if you were you wouldn't be teaching this crap that will cause serious injury or death.
