Watching Lewis Hamilton struggle through his final season with the Mercedes F1 team confused many fans. We saw the most successful F1 driver ever fail to beat his relatively inexperienced teammate over the course of an entire season. Hamilton fans had to suffer their drivers constant complaints about a Mercedes car which was occasionally competitive but more often than not, completely off the pace. The team seemed to have no clue what was going wrong but Mercedes has recently revealed that they knew exactly why Hamilton was struggling, and today, I will check it out, so don’t go anywhere.

What about the mini DAS we saw George operating in another race, SLH didn't have it because if he did they would have plastered the footage all over KZbin.

Something I sfind quite strange is that Russell said earlier last season that he looked at Lewis' data and used that to get pole. If Lewis was really struggling why would you copy his data. Sounds fishy. Toto also admitted they gave Lewis 2025 experiments to run on his car In few races so I doubt the chassis were the same at Merc.

Lewis was doing more testing with the strategies, Toto admitted to this and he said they let him down. Also Lewis came ahead in the Championship in 2023 Shovlin admitted car was not quick.enough, also Lewis was not comfortable with it. He had problems in the corner with it. Car was over steering and tyres sliding.

I think that Hamilton will have a much better time a Ferrari with the different mindset in car development. As far as Russell, I mean c'mon, it's George Russell. This is a guy who crashes at Imola under a safety car, then the next season destroys his Williams car, and the car of the team for which he hopes to drive, in a crash that was completely his fault - then proceeds to blame the other driver 100 percent. In that situation I was glad to see Valteri stand up form himself. He only gets wins when other drivers make a mistake, which is a good trait to have, but all the time?

@@marcderiveau2421 I absolutely did not say that... It's not that Russell isn't a good driver, he just isn't a complete driver. He's not the kind that can dig deep, and he certainly isn't the type of driver to control or command a race every Sunday. I can see Russell qualifying in the top three or four every Sunday, but never having the stuff to take the whole weekend for himself. Maybe I'm wrong, but I haven't been impressed with him so far.

Part of his arrangement with Ferrari will be involvement in the development of the car. This was his gripe with Mercedes. Not configuring the car to be symbiotic enough with the driver. Maybe Russell is a more malleable driver in his youth.

Hamilton 100% underperformed Russell over the year but it was his last season with Merc, Merc would rightly restrict his access to info that would be available to Russell, and the car would be developed more to suit Russell’s driving style. However despite this the points gap between him and his team mate was smaller than any of the other top teams. Unfortunately he became the best number two driver on the grid.

Toto and Mercedes track side engineer knew actually what was going on with Hamilton car, but refused to fix it because he was leaving Mercedes at end of session. Plan and simple. Trail braking is NOT a technique ( as you claim ) that only LH is good enough to do. It is also one of the the reasons that Max is so quick, and most drivers use it to a greater, or lesser extent. Just watch the line they take, it's not rocket science. You need to be factual if you want to become a credible source of news.

@Plummetking Just a quick question for you. There are 20 drivers and you say Hamilton is average, which would place him in 10th position. However, in 2024 he was 7th, in 2023 - 3rd and in 2022 - 6th. So how do you get 10th?

Performed the best in teams with great cars that weren't winning before he joined. His driving style and data, brought the cars alive. If Ferrari do their best to build a car to match Lewis's driving style, pull rod suspension, seat forward, carbon brakes and a strong engine, we shall see Peak Lewis again.

2022 Russell and Lewis was given an illegal porpoising car which the Fia should have cracked down on sooner, but Lewis did the heavy lifting. 2023 Lewis got on top of the car, was no where near his best but still came in 3rd. 2024 Lewis pushed his seat forward, but the Mercedes push suspension left the rear vunerable. Moved it back, got back on top of the car. Then after Spa, something sinister happened. But we know someone in Mercedes busted the tampering of his tyres. It was quite evident Lewis was driving a different car which was seen in the final race when Lewis was given Russell's car to drive, as a farewell. 2025 Ferrari will give Lewis a pull-rod suspension, get his seat forward, carbon brakes and will turn the power up, and away we go. Leclerc will throughly enjoy this set up too. Leclerc will be Lewis's best and proper team mate to date, he won't need Lewis's car, tyres or pits sabotaged to match him.

Depending how you look at it. Were Lewis’ teammates “generally the fastest guys on the grid” or was the Mercedes “generally the fastest” car on the grid in which even Valtteri itsjames could hold 4 (four) different track records, to this day! Another interesting stat would also be to look at the difference between drivers in qualifying when Lewis and Britney became champions and the difference when Max became champion 👀 Max suffers from the same derogatory glares as Khabib: winning so easily and consistently that it makes your teammates and competitors look like amateurs. Max has outdriven the RB20 so much that it literally disguised how bad it was, initially. Max’ skills literally blindsided Red Bull for the RB20’s defects.

A good driver simply displays consistency and sometimes moments of greatness when they have a good car, but they're supposed to win championships and races. And generally speaking, Max has not raced against one fast teammate except for a sometimes fast Ricciardo, who was forced out when he refused to bow to the boy genius.

Inconsistent car, hard to nail down the new driving style. Russel has driven less in F1 and in general and has less to unlearn where as HAM has had great success with the way he has always driven so it's hard to break out of it, I'd personally say that is pretty hard when you have no idea how the car is gonna react on any given weekend. Has he gotten older? Yah, but generally as you get on in age you rely more on experience. These cars just aren't allowing him to rely on it that's really it. None of this is a shocker, we have known since S1 of these regulations that HAM is not a fan of these cars because of the way he drives. Regardless of anything the best driver on the grid at the moment is Verstappen no matter what any fan base thinks, I am a HAM fan, but also a fan of the sport in general. I'm excited to see how next season goes because of how close the last half of the season was, is HAM gonna beat LEC? Idk maybe. I think the idea that he is gonna be "Destroyed" is hilarious though. I'm pulling for McLarin to put up another big fight though!!!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOO

I think that he's just (sadly) lost control of the machinery that bought HE, the designers and engineers what they wanted and expected, he isn't the driver or useful input supplier that Merc have had in previous seasons, you can bitch/ moan all you want but the race results tell you all the truth that is obviously evident. I seem to recall Lewis winning a championship with a different team and then the nerve to dismiss all the other drivers he’s competed against. But winning F1 is a synergy of a good driver, good team, good designers and technology and a good car with a sprinkling of luck. Oh and a huge pile of money. In the past, money did buy you speed. Look how the top end teams are so much closer now with the cost cap.

I agree but Hamilton and schumy’s runs are very similar. 1 @ Benetton 6 @ Ferrari. 1 @ Maclaren 6 @ Mercedes.
