Mercedes van (no power/black smoke) faulty turbo

Hi I'm working on an older Mercedes Benz van, it has no power and a lot of black smoke,
Made me think it's not getting enough air, or perhaps injector spray pattern is no longer very good.
I quickly checked the egr valve was not sticking open then went straight to turbo checks.
No play in the turbine and it spins freely
Then I checked for boost pressure, it didn't have any pressure build up in the intake pipe
I carried out some quick and basic tests to confirm that the lack of boost is down to a faulty turbo and the rest of the intake system is ok.

I had this problem with my 312d, tested the egr was fine, sested the waste gate also fine, at the end removed the turbo and saw that the on waste gate lever the hole that moves the flap opening and closing was streched not round anymore and it was allowing exhaust gases to escape.

I think the garage is going to take off the turbo and get it rebuilt, there is a place in Glasgow, I think sandy Anderson used them with his turbo too.
