In this video I show how to clone one of these Mercedes Benz VGS2 transmissions. There are different versions of this transmission, this one was a DCT type. Along with that I try to explore some of the tools options available with this TCU.

Great video. I'm a Benz Tech and I like your channel. What you were looking at during the 724.0 Trans. break down was at the secondary trans. oil pump (used to compensate low oil flow during certain conditions), and that solenoid is the Park Paw Locking Solenoid. That 724.0 has been a solid transmission for the most part. Very few issues that I know of. Love to see how you guys get things done without OEM support! 👊

The repair data is which I think is for the P0513 DTC. It repairs the eeprom data for the immo corruption which can occur after for example battery drain. Useful option for sure

Intuitively, to me, "Repair Data" function might just write the original EEPROM data back to the TCM. In case that EEPROM was corrupted somehow: data lost, or corrupted by incorrect programming. In other words, "Repair Data' just writes original factory EEPROM data (by retrieving it from internet I suppose). Microsoft Windows has this function, "Repair OS", too, but all it does is writes original Operating System to hard drive.

it is the model dc706 and it lets one read module data to modify it if need be or transfer over to other modules for clone work. there are multiple brands out there but for what this one has done for the price it has been well worth it

What about the OBD2 Scanner OBDSTAR P50 ? Is it better than the DC 706?

from my understanding the P50 is just for airbag module crash resets

So is the obdstar the new toy on the block? Is ioterminal still a thing? I want the obdstar probably get it in mid January

The DC706 started out cloning the functions of IOTerminal. They told me this when I first enquired. It's gone way beyond IOT now. It did have issues but now it seems solid. Had mine for a year and I love it. Like all Chinese tools there are things it claims to do but it doesn't (just like the IM608, that is Autel though and we should know better 🙄) - as far as I can tell though, this is due to module firmware versions they haven't seen. All in all it is pretty good. There's a support FB group as well.

I had considered io terminal but then decided on this tool as everything is all in a tablet and not need a laptop and pay extra for extra stuff. This will give you access to ecm's , tcm's and bcm's and also motorcycle stuff. It has failed to do a couple of things a time or two, and their actual support is literally nonexistent based off my experience but the work it has been able to do for me based off the price has been well worth buying it. I am happy with the tool.

at first, just spend ton of time on line searching videos and forums and trying to learn the process on the basics, then try to decide on a budget friendly reader and go to junkyard and get used module and start to practice. That's how I started.

Hi is TCM BUILD INTO VALVE BODY of this Benz. bcz if you are swapping transmission, you can keep the old TCM as is like we do inn Toyota or Honda.. wondering why we need to clone it.

it is located inside the transmission and bolted onto the valve body, but it is a piece that can be removed and swapped over. The cloning is if you don't want to deal with the hassle of going through that work

@@DTEAuto Thanks much. One question. i work mostly on Asian and Japanese car. I look at alldata and prodemand for service repair reference manuals .. for europe does both alldata and prodemand stand good or we have to rely on OEM manual

I honestly use Direct-Hit/Identifix, but even with that site no always is all the information found, so yes sometimes you will need to access oem information.

autohex2 is not going to do anything for a Mercedes Transmission. Maybe you mean the hexprog2 which does them easily?

Magic motorsport flex unit is extremely expensive and the auro is the same as the autel I tried and it didn't do it.
