Mercedes Vito 2009 W639 van how to remove manual gear knob easy trick

We needed to replace our gear shifter bush and to done this we first had to remove the bear stick/selector knob on our 2009 w639 vito van. The knob does not have a retaining screw and is truly stick on the gear stick, having tried various methods it wasn't moving we eventually came across a simple and effective means for removing the knob without causing any damage which took seconds using an everyday DIY tool called an IRWIN Quick-Grip clamp (link below).
