Have the rear subframe inspected for internal rust. Mercedes has extended coverage up to 20 years

What a beauty ! I bought my 2011 W212 last year. She looked like a brand new car, had 1 previous owner and only 3,000 miles on the clock, she was absolutely mint, the underneath was unmarked, clean as a whistle. I do a lot of driving so its now up to 50,000 miles with only one problem so far, the coolant hose failed leaving the expansion tank empty every couple of days, but with that replaced she has been 100% perfect ! I love this car.

I found a hole in the rear subframe. There is a recall so mercedes changed the subframe for free. They have chanhed a lot of those subframes for free in Finland. Even small rust spot can be a hole as it rust from inside to out. Its a great update as many frame to subframe rubbers also get changed so the rear starts to feel like new.

Love everything about it, from the wood trim to the exterior/interior color! I would just go for the leather gray interior because of wear :D

Congrats on your new purchase. The rust in the rear subframe is common. There was a recall for W204s and W212s in Germany for this exact issue and they replaced the rear subframe for free. Call your local mercedes benz dealer and ask. The car looks very good a bad flex disk and a bad exhaust clamp is nothing to worry about.

Thanks! Not sure how it works over here but would be great have it replaced even if is not to bad. Unfortunately nearby Mercedes is 350 km from here but I could make a call and check.

welcome back !! 🤗. nice car, nice vid ! as someone mentioned here before, there was a recall from MB here in germany to replace the rear subframe for free. i was wondering, if this was only a german thing. joint disc needs also to be replaced, yes. i am looking forward for all upcoming maintenance videos ! good to have you back !

Sadly yes. In Romania they don't replace it for free.

I've been changing the oil from mine MB this weekend and still with screws nightmares!!! 🥴🤣 With an elevator, it's easier!!!😮😂 Your grounds stays lovely. Glad you still here since my old 212 🫡 haha yess lucky this time to have lift but usually is the garage floor with the jack. Fun roads but also sometimes quite unsafe due to all snow blast.

Very nice looking Car! For the age and mileage it looks pretty awesome.🎉 In Germany Mercedes replaced the rear axels of pre facelift w204 and w212 which had rust issues on godwill. So the customer got the replacement for free and had to pay nothing. Maybe you can check on a local Mercedes workshop if the car is suited for the replacement measure as well.🤓

Really happy and also good price compare to other 212 at sale here in Sweden. Don’t find much info about that recall at the Swedish site, I need to do some more research.

Suuuper Nice! I Love my 2012 S212 350 CDI . Very solid Cars! (for a modern Car). There is only one "better" option- an early E500 V8 (not this turbo, direct injection JUNK)... may it serve you well, Sir.

Nice video, congratulations. Contact your local dealer. In germany you're eligible to a free replacement rear axle in case of severe rust

I agree with @1991jub we in Germany have this, rear axle has a Warranty for around 20 years, I have also heard this so many times. Thank god I don’t have this issue on my 2009.

the rust problems appear in general. it doesn't matter, if much salt was used on the streets or not. every rear axle of the first 212 gets rusty. thats why MB offered a free of charge change.

I mean like they are hooked up to the steering wheel, when you reach a certain degree they will turn on, like lets say you’re turning left, so you turn the steering wheel around -50 degrees the left corner light will turn on, and so for the right side. Is this what you meant?

@@ynte8114 and also I would like to know which lights in this car serve as cornering, those in the very bottom, or those that are inside the headlight unit. I know that in the ILS the low beam lights turn left or right and serve as cornering light, but I am not sure how this happens in the model in this video

@@utube521 Hi, the Xenon bulbs are the main headlights if you have them, I have them and they are much better than normal Halogen bulbs, my mercedes has ILS maybe it’s a standard feature on all W212‘s idk. The cornering lights are the ones next to center grill, it’s cut like a square or rectangle.
