I do snow removal at an apartment complex, I'm here to tell you these little two strokes are faster and work better than any of these giant 4 Strokes. My little Toro nickname "Little Nicky" blows snow 30 ft in the air😂

I have a Powerlite 98cc over 10 years old. It's always run great, but this year it would start when primed, but would immediately shut down. I cleaned out the bowl and jet, but it would only run on full choke. Any attempt to move the choke to middle position or no choke and it would shut down. I suspected there might be an air leak so I took it all apart again. I cleaned the jet and bowl again just to be safe. Then I noticed the old gasket had left some rough residue on the lip of the bowl. I took some fine sandpaper and gently rubbed off the grit. I did not have a new gasket, but the old one was reasonably intact. I rubbed my fingers along the inside and outside edge of the gasket to be sure it was relatively clean. Then I put a little plumbers silicone gel on my fingers and rubbed that on the gasket to give it a light coat. I also rubbed a light coat of the silicone gel on the bowl lip. I carefully placed the lubed gasket on the carb, then seated the bowl over the gasket, and screwed in and tightened the jet at the bottom. After several tries of priming and starting, this "mighty mite" started and ran flawlessly.

A customer gave me this model and I laughed and almost refused to take it as it looked like a toy. This little thing is a freaking beast. Threw better than a new 21” toro 4 stoke blower. New single stage blowers are a joke compared to these.

I said to myself bull crap im not paying 100 dollars for an easy fix. Thanks for your video I have the exact same snowblower. I left gas in it from last season .I wont do that again

Excellent demonstration on how to clean the carburetor. I have a Torro myself and after two split seconds of starting and stopping; it will not start at all now. What I did notice is there's air bubbles in the gas tank with the gas after priming it so I'm wondering if my prime line is clogged up? I'll have to check the model number to see which powerlite it is. It is a two stage where oil needs mixed with the gas. I don't think the unit has ever been serviced since my parents had it. I'd say the age is probably a good 25 years if not more.

@dieseltuner1 This is the first time I ever serviced a carburetor. Sounds like something else inside it? Maybe you need a new carb or a carb rebuild?
@jamescrowton00711 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying back... I did what you did in the video to clean out the carburetor and found allot of green sludge and also the seal on the carb is worn and also the needle inside the carburetor fell out. Looks like I'm going to need a new carburetor. I have the Toro CCR 1000 model 38190. Where can I purchase a new one? Any links would be great. Thanks! :-)
@grassmastersllc2558 Жыл бұрын
I never understood why Toro put the air intake hole on the carburetor facing up, it's right near the choke lever slot and water and snow gets sucked into that and goes into the carburetor. I flipped mine upside down and it seems to work better
@latrays13 жыл бұрын
i got mine for free and it was in a shed for abut 3 to 5 years and no one drained the gas i took off the bowl and it was like green goo and i all i did was cleaned the bowl and the gas tank up and it fired right up these are so easy to work on.

Have the same blower. Runs and works fine for 15min or so then dies. Have to let it sit for a while then starts right up. Would a fuel system cleaner additive help?
@MercedesDieselGuy9 жыл бұрын
+jordtizzle It probably wouldn't hurt, but that could be any number of problems. Maybe a problematic carb. I'm hesitant to offer much in the way of advice, as I'm not an expert on these. I knew enough to film this video, but I'm not well-versed in the common problems of these Toros. Best of luck.
@sabremedic77138 жыл бұрын
had a similar problem with a lawn mower. check the fuel air mixture. seems like its running rich, getting too much fuel and stalling out. letting it sit or cool, i am guessing it restarts, runs for a bit and does the same thing? Does it seem to struggle when the engine is working hard when the engine is still somewhat cold? i just picked up one of these from the street, so havent explored this model just the to know for sure, but seems like a air flow issue or sticky carb. a thorough clean of all the jets wouldnt be a bad idea either.

I got a Toro 2400 E and I cleaned out the carb and it has a new spark plug. When it runs the idle climbs really high, Is this normal? How high should the idle be? How do I adjust the idle to be normal?

hi\-i serviced carb and replaced sparkplug(have fire), but still No Fire or even a little start?/ Help It has electric start switch? Can unplug and put a jump wire on the switch wires and will be it work then? If still No start- where do I go? IS there anything under the assembly which needs servicing??
@MercedesDieselGuy11 жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure what you're saying. You've serviced the carb, and replaced the plug, and it won't start? Be sure you put the carb back together properly. If so, then be sure you have fuel in it. Beyond that, I'd need to think about it.

I have gas leaking from the carb on my Toro CCR Powerlite, do I need to replace the bowl?
@MercedesDieselGuy8 жыл бұрын
Possibly. There might be a replaceable seal in there, though,
@kevinwoodcock75788 жыл бұрын
It is normal for a little gas to leak when priming. If gas leaks all the time while running it could be the bowl gasket or the needle in the seat is stuck open which will allow fuel to enter the carb all the time. Try to isolate where the fuel is coming out. If it's pouring out the butterfly on the top of the carb it's probably a problem with the needle and seat. Also double check your bowl nut and make sure it's snug.
@DanLoFat7 жыл бұрын
For me turned out to be improper gasket seating and when I took off the bowl and the banjo bolt to clean them I didn't really need cleaning but I noticed that the gasket and twisted as I was pulling it off. So I just make sure that the gasket was on the float before I put the bowl and Bolt back on

@commodoresixfour747810 жыл бұрын
You are supposed to hang that snow blower on a nail. Toro designed it that way so that gas would drain out of the bowl and back into the tank. That way you should never have to clean the corroborator. Storing this type of snow blower, siting on the ground is the most common reason they quit working. (When you store it over the summer) Supposedly carb rebuild kits are not longer made for them. (I hope I am wrong.)

I bought this unit used, and didn't have any factory information to refer to. Do you have a resource on this? I'd certainly like to learn more. If you're right (and I don't doubt you are), then that's fantastic advice. Still, a great many of these do get gummed up, and do require cleaning sometimes.

WARNING!!!!!! This was helpful and would have been a quick clean project however!!!! DO NOT MOVE the float thingy inside of bowl!!!! there is a small pin and pin holder that will fall out!!! It is tiny and will most likely fall on the ground or inside the machine. Took me a good additional 45 minutes to get it back in place. Otherwise with some priming and a few good pulls seems to be running better the it was. JUST DONT TOUCH THE FLOAT INSIDE THE BOWL!!!!!!
