Actually, this is the most complex of Rammsteins latest songs and videos and so far no reactor (in my opinion) has really understood it. Yes on its face it is a song about massive chesticles, but there is a ton of stuff going on here. One recurring theme with the band is the thought of what is "typically german" which here plays out with the alpine/bavarian setting and the traditional clothing (The video is shot in Austria, but the sign to the village is the german variant). Now listen to all the things he does NOT expect from a woman: There is literally nothing left, that makes her a partner, while all the girls in the video work really hard and you get the feeling, that this settlement would not survive without them. The question the song asks is therefore (imho): Do you really believe that big boobs are all men are looking for? The young boys play the Rammstein stage performance with pyro (burning the gingerbread man) and the interaction betweeen Till and Flake and the Till hammer. There is a reference to the song "Waidmanns Heil", and to "Rosenrot" (in that song it was a rose in name, but the tradition uses the Edelweiß, which he tramples on in the end) He takes a risk to enjoy the view from the mountain although he is blind. There are several puns in the video, meaning visual references to figures of speech (pounding the meat, churning the butter and so on) It is very Rammstein, to give people the option to enjoy a song (and video) without thinking about it, but also when really digging into it.

Interesting, intelligent and articulate comment. That a rarity on KZbin for the most part. With that said, I myself and I think most would not have known to interpret the video that way and thank you for expanding the meaning of it to me. I thought it was simply going through life, surrounded by what we love, but blind to it, and thus remaining unhappy. I guess both can be right, but with Rammstein, I believe you are more on track. Till is blind in the clip. And since rammstein have ever deeper meaning here comes one. We all go through life so blindly that we don't appreciate what we already have. We always want more. And in the end, we may not get what we imagined and everything will get worse.

Or maybe it's about focusing on what we want most, which for this song was titten. Not that it's awesome to just focus on that but.. at least the guy had things figured out in honest way, he needed no smarts or beautiful looks otherwise, just titten. Most men avoid being so honest and saying what they want and bring a bunch of lies about spiritual connection and whatnot, but what they want really is a woman's body close to them, for starters!

The first things that struck me where: 1. even if everything we want is constantly surrounding us, we are often blind to see it 2. If we live our lives blindly, cheaters will keep trying to trick us (the guy who stuffs straw into his shirt to make himself look like a big breasted woman) 3. We are often blind to see our own values, like when he tramples on the Edelweiss, the symbol of a truly brave man, and doesn't even know it, while constantly lowering his needs because he thinks he's not worth it anyway: "She doesn't have to be beautiful, or rich... she doesn't have to love me, just..." If there are still hidden messages, or I misunderstood something, please share it with me, I'm really looking forward to the "solution" :-)

Well it is more a village, but everything else is right. I am originally from that area and even lived a few month there, and also worked there. Now I am not even in Austria anymore and the only thing when I was in kind of "no why", was when I saw at the video mentioning my former work place "Tourismusverband Wilder Kaiser" in there. The guys were a few years late. But I do not like this are and I am glad I am gone!

I was never a fan of the cheap sexism of Benny Hill and his ilk in the 1970s before he was rightly binned for objectifying women, but this is clever and funny in a classic Rammstein way. I honestly think they are one of the best bands around today. Very consistent over the years, inventive, heavy, theatrical - they have it all. I saw them live recently and they were excellent - I don't think any band have a better live show. And they write songs that are meaningful and fun, and do so with complete commitment.

he is blind to everything he surrounds him and to the attention paid to him, while he is surrounded by what he desires. he crushes an edelweiss (once a man had to go prove his bravery and his feelings for the woman he covets, he had to bring back a flowers, after climbing on the top of the mountains) implying that he has made no effort, and he has no respect (he tries to force a girl to kiss him, he is rejected) he ends up being accompanied in the barn to go milk the cows x) finally the only one who sees boobs and the one who demonized..... While it's still what we put first in the mouths of babies (yes the milk is not only a sexual allusion in the clip in my opinion) I love rammstein. they make a super fun song, but come and tell you about the objectification of women's bodies like that with humor in the music video, without even looking like it, singing you want big boobs

Kudos for mentioning the dress up in the basement. Interestingly most reactors just ignore it. As fun as this video is, Rammstein usually puts something in it that's open for interpretation. Although I admit this detail is rather unclear to me. Maybe they just put it in so that we have something to speculate about hidden meanings.

German humor can be indeed very dry. but there are regional differences. (west) northern humor is kown to be very dry. but in the southern regions the humor is more "from the heart". The Berlin region is known to be sarcastic. Rammstein band members are from the Berlin area.

The side plot with one of them dressing up as a woman was pretty unsatisfying for me, too. Not so much because it would scare me...but because it somehow went nowhere. He was dressing up as a woman in the basement. That's it. No gag, no further story to it. Nothing. It ends there. Maybe I've missed something, but that may be the first time in a Rammstein video, where an element of the story makes no real sense. Apart from the fact that it felt a little forced. As if they included that for political correct reasons in a half hearted way. Normally they are not political correct. But here it unfortunately it really felt that way with those basement scenes. As if they somehow wanted to add some "modern" LGBTQ-scenes to the video. No matter if that makes sense or not.

Would be somehow untypical for Rammstein, but it comes across, as if someone said: We need here some LGBTQ-representation. Doesn't matter if it fits into the movie or not. Feels forced. It somehow feels, as if they made fun of it with a funny little side plot-end to this cellar-storyline...and someone cut that end of the story out of the video in a heavyhanded manner because political correctness isn't allowing it to make fun of LGBTQ-people. This side story beginns...and then it suddenly ends silently into the nowhere.
