I was confused at first. Because after many years of hearing many bands that are made up of great musicians I have never felt what I was feeling upon hearing Nightwish, especially Floors voice. She has the magical ability to make you feel every word she sings. She is a generational talent. A living legend that we are blessed to witness!

What a beautiful reaction. Thank you for sharing this with us. This is the power of Nightwish. Tuomas' beautiful compositions, the band and of course Floor's magnificent voice. They can lift you up to heights you can only imagine and then turn right around and make you cry. Nightwish is an emotional experience.

This is a very personal song for Tuomas (composer and keyboardist). Once he said that he wants to be remembered for this song. In this song, he talks about what music means to him, writing music, he talks about himself. I think this is the only song where he spoke specifically about himself and admits this to the public. I think that's why the song is so emotional. Well, Floor, she feels it all very well, possessing strong empathy. The tone of her voice to me personally sounds almost like a cry, a voice on the verge of an emotional breakdown. I think this is what causes such a reaction along with the music that Tuomas wrote, you can not listen to the words (although they are very beautiful and filled with deep meaning), but you still feel the emotions.

Indeed! Tuomas was only 22 when he wrote this song.Just a couple of years before he was a regular Finnish teenager and then just a few years later he all of a sudden was the composer and bandleader of the biggest export product of the entire county (over iron ore and forestry) with hundreds of jobs depending on his creativity. I believe he felt his childhood-life was cut short by this (hence referring to himself as "dead boy") "The child" is a reference to the band. It is all he cares about, but he has to disappoint a lot of people in the process.

"And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..." Umphhh, punched right in the stomach. Nightwish is a roller coaster of emotions, I promise you, these are not your last tears. I'm an old fart, and every time I hear this song I cry. Never ignore or hide your emotions or say sorry, we all went through them and still do. 🤘😢🤘 I'm not religious, but I have to say this... Nightwish is a blessing from heaven.

Floor is able to bring out the soul of a song. Just what Tuomas' masterpieces needed. She always sings in service of the song and music. For sure, there's stage presence in spades, but no act to draw attention to herself. She's actually so selfless that she can afford to become a true medium for the story to be told and the music to flow freely. No ego in between. That's the energy & emotion I feel each time I listen to this music. Cheers from Amsterdam!

Dear Dominika, don't be sorry for your tears. I tell you something in confidence 😏 most of us are crying during listening Nightwish's songs. Every single time and we don't no why. Of course Tuomas is a genius and Floor is doing her magic with his compositions but nobody knows what kind of magic it is. In my case music part of my soul is in pain and happiness in the same moment. It hurts inside but I feel a needs of listen more and more every single day. And one more thing. It will be your and your husband decision but don't do The Poet and The Pendulum reaction too soon. It's the most emotional Nightwish song and very personal for Tuomas. The lyrics is very poetic, symbolic and if you won't do some research about this song, you could feel confuse. Pozdrawiam serdecznie was oboje.

It is a very powerful song and the build up, as Floor's singing changes up from the gentle start to the monumental belting at the end, is magnificent. “Devil and the deep dark ocean” is one of my favourites from this concert. It’s heavy but very theatrical with Floor and Marco singing to each other (they play different roles) and Floor belting high notes like nothing. Spectacular performance. I really love this concert. It’s a collection of 20 years of Nightwish history. The band, the crowd and the stage are awesome. And Floor is in full superhero, goddess, queen and valkyrie mode here.

This is such a beautiful, delicate song, to me (and I know for many others as well) this one is special because this is a young Tuomas talking to us, the double cadence on the phrase "I wish I didn't feel for you anymore" always makes me cry so never apologize for crying with their songs, but then the queen manages to bring the positivity back with the second part of the song, is so powerful and uplifting, that you can't help but smile through the tears. Complex feelings caused by an special, complex and beautiful man's masterful mind

It was mentioned many times that Floor is an empath, so she is feeling the song (this one was not written for her like most NW songs) and she instinctively is transmitting the feelings from it. If you like to see and hear how she is a mermaid fighting the devil (Marko) with some amazing vocal acrobatics: same venue, Devil and the deep dark ocean! I could not find a bad or boring song in this venue… And her voice is amazing although she was still recovering from the heavy flu she got in Bogota.

Don't worry about crying many of us have. What's so great about Tuomas is how he expresses his emotions and thoughts and pain through his music. As for Floor she's 6.1 tall built solid like a man very beautiful as a woman has so much carrisma and power she could lead an Army to battle yet she is an empath and can sing such emotions that it can melt your heart. This is why she is perfect for Nightwish this is why the fans call her Queen, Valkyre, or goddess. Thank you guys for a great reaction.

I connect so much with what you said about Floor. She is very beautiful. Beautiful, powerful, versatile, yet delicate voice that she continues to improve through training and challenging herself (and being up to whatever new challenge that Tuomas decides to throw at her). She is a beautiful person on the inside. No ounce of ego that I have seen since discovering her (and re-discovering Nightwish through her performance of Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013). It has been over 2 years since I stumbled across that video and I was hooked instantly. Since then, I have watched anything I could find with her in it. She is such a sensitive, humble, and down-to-earth person. The fact that she is my idea of physically gorgeous is a bonus for me, but her looks do reflect her inner beauty. Because of the entire package that is Floor Jansen, she is able to evoke emotions in her audience that few performers are, or have been, capable of.

To me there is no bigger compliment for a Nightwish song than to be overcome by emotion. Toumas writes his lyrics from his heart, and Floor pours every ounce of emotion into her vocals. Their songs are technically proficient of course, but what really matters is the emotional connection with the listener. That's what keeps me coming back to them. This song is not a sad song but it does have a melancholy feel to it. To me it is like a eulogy, or how the dead boy wishes to be remembered even though he feels as though he hasn't completed all that he wanted to in his life yet. Tuomas is big on the loss of childhood joy and exuberance that we go through as we age and I think this is another song exploring that loss.

This is precisely what Nightwish is all about - telling the stories so the listener / audience experiences each and every story - feels them inside in body, soul and mind. And you did 👍 Floor is unique - the greatest storyteller ever - and this is not her most emotional storytelling - there are others.... Nightwish is all about emotion, passion, letting your mind play with your memories and create feelings inside you. When Tuomas writes his stories, he writes them to be individually interpreted - from your own life experiences and memories - even though many of his songs are very personal about him - you can relate. And he is not afraid of digging in deep - and he is capable of using all of Floor's incredible techniques, or make her invent new ones to fullfill the goal. This song is a favorite and a dear one, to many in the Nightwish Army - it is a phenomenal performance, which brings salt in many eyes - so you are not alone. Great reaction from you 👍 🤘 🤘 I would recommend 2 other songs from Buenos Aires 2018 : "Carpenter" - beautiful ballad with Troy as lead and Floor backing "Deep Silent Complete" - very different - happy song about the ocean - you will be carried away on the waves in your imagination. Both song are rare reacted to - but phenomenal - not something you hear from others - and so much Nightwish.

Every single one of us has either one or several Nightwish songs that just move us to tears...for different reasons. Tuomas writes music and poetry that connects with us on many levels, and means something different to each person. I know all of the songs, seen hundreds of reactions...do.not apologize for tears! I've seen big strong men cry just at the sound of Floor's voice, or from a phrase. It's ok...we cry with you!

Never be worried about tears listening to Nightwish, we all do. All the hardcore fans know they pull on the heart very powerfully. Thank you both for your reaction. Floor's voice, words always fall short of explaining how she makes you feel.

You are both beautiful people and your genuine emotional reaction to this song was a real treat to witness. You are not the first to get teary eyed over this one (and you won't be the last) as Tuomas' songwriting and Floor's vocals combine to make a powerful impact on the listener. That simple but beautiful guitar solo also adds extra weight and is perfectly executed by Emppu as usual - he knows how to make his guitar sing.

Tuomas's emotions in lyric and tones, channeled through Floor who is in my opinion a true vocal empath. She can convey the emotional component directly through her tone, timbre, and power. Trust me, there's a few Nightwish songs that make me feel completely as you did. This is one. Sometimes when I listen to this, or others I connect to emotionally, that I'm ok.. this is not or has not happened to me, and wow that's quite a accomplishment to connect so fully to myself. I'm not sure that makes a ton of sense either, sometimes you can't quite explain fully WHY or WHAT a song makes you feel, it's too emotional and personal. Great reaction though, I enjoyed and relived my own response to this through you. TY!

They bring us a depth of feeling that is impossible to fully describe. With Nightwish I shed tears of joy, sorrow, gratitude and understanding. We spend our lives feeling our way through, sometimes feeling alone, hiding emotions because we feel we are the only ones who feel this deeply. Then Nightwish comes along and digs up all these emotions, reminding us we are not alone. We all share in this deep sea of emotion called life. To have it all written so brilliantly and honestly by Tuomas and expressed with such depth and color by Floor... it is a divine gift, one that I am humbled and grateful to accept. This is soul music unlike any heard before. To be alive, if only to hear this song is a gift beyond measure.

It's very difficult not to get emotional when one hears this song. I too teared up several times listening to it. Floor is so empathetic when she sings it. Have you played Ghost Love Score from this Buenos Aries concert? You will see many people crying. And the way the audience chanted her name at the end is just incredible! I love the South American people they are so emotional and that's why Nightwish schedules many concerts down there.

I was at all the concerts in Argentina I cried live my son looked at me and did not understand this music is a dagger to the heart thuomas is a mozart a bethoven thuomas is immortal in music. They are not concerts, they are musicals. Floor interprets with his voice and his movements the band at its right point. if you notice marko has a bass and guitar because troy is playing an electric banjo that gives that surround sound to the song, i was lucky to see them from tarja to floor but floor blows my mind it's a combo it has tarja's operatic voice and anette's pop rock voice is the perfect combo, beautiful reaction and if the music makes you cry it's because you got a better reaction than tears there are no greetings

Tearing up during a NW song is abolutely normal. The voice of Floor touches me emotional like no other singer ever did before And the same is true for the music from Nightwish. And then there is the combination of NW and Floor ... pure emotions. Love your geniue reaction. Keep going please. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 How about "Bless the Child" from Wacken 2013 as next ? Stay safe and all the best 🍀🍀🍀

It’s a very sad song… and soooo emotional… Floor Hits your soul and Emppu brought in on top…. this is one of the songs where Emppu is not smiling - and this is also stated in the lyrics. Thx for this one… 👍🏆

The composition is magical and lay the foudation for Floor to transfer the emotions to the listener. No singer in my many years of performing, seen or listened to have that effect on me. Floor is one of a kind. To feel music is a gift so never appologise when you really feel it. Thanks for the reaction. Next step is to see them live. Floor is the Queen of our Nightwish army.

Whenever you see 'boy' or 'poet' , Tuomas is usually talking about himself. I believe he wants this song played at his funeral. You don't have to follow Gabriel's list in order. You can jump around. We do recommend using his links to whatever song you choose to do.

This song is based on a hypothetical situation. It is kind of a love letter to all of Tuomas' family and fans. See below for the spoken words. You are not alone Dominika. I shed tears every time I listen to this amazing performance. No need to apologize to us or anyone for your emotional reaction. I wanted to reach though the screen and give you a great big hug. 💖🙏🙏This is what Nightwish is all about. We are all with you on this journey. It is abundantly clear to see how much passion you have in your heart for wonderful music. This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas' inner child speaking. When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said "it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..." Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. The swan is the guide to the afterlife in Finnish mythology. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with to the other side. A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny. Here are the spoken words from Dead Boy's Poem. If you read this line Remember not the hand that wrote it Remember only the verse Songmaker's cry, the one without tears For I've given this its strength And it has become my only strength Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew The sweet piano writing down my life Teach me passion, for I fear it's gone Show me love, hold the lorn So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me I'm sorry Time will tell, this bitter farewell I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you And you I wish I didn't feel for you anymore A lonely soul An ocean soul Tuomas is the lonely soul, and an ocean soul is one that is so deep that it is endless, just like the waters of the oceans. This song is from 2000 and since then he is now happily married.
