Possibly one of the greatest live performances ever! So lucky this was captured to film. Apparently Freddie never got his teeth sorted as it would have changed the shape of his mouth and how he controlled his voice, even how he sounded. Amazing !

I loved Freddie. There was no one like him and he was irreplaceable. Shortly after he died, the remaining members of Queen set out to do a tribute concert in Freddie's honor with proceeds going to AIDS research (the disease that killed Freddie). 72,000 tickets sold out in 3 hours before a single artist had been signed for the show. But every big name artist at the time jumped at the opportunity. One artist that was invited was George Michael. He was not really considered a rocker, he was a pop star so no one really expected much from him. But he asked to do this song, Somebody to Love because it was his favorite Queen song and it was Freddie's favorite Queen song. Shortly before the concert, George learned that his partner, Anselmo Feleppa had tested positive for the AIDS virus which was a death sentence at the time. George said he knew he had to do two things - pay tribute to his icon and friend Freddie and pray for Anselmo. Unfortunately, Anselmo died two years after this concert. But George was inspired to do his best despite having a heavy heart. He blew everyone away with his performance. There could never be another Freddie, but if you had to pick someone to pay tribute to him, no one could have been better than George. Even Queen's guitarist Brian May, said George's was the best performance of the night. Given the names that were there, that is saying something. After Anselmo passed, George never really got over the loss. A few years later he lost his mother as well. These were the two people that George loved most in the world and he never really recovered the loss. He was still successful but sad and it seemed he remained so until his death in 2016. I hope him and Freddie are singing together along with all the other amazing artist from that time we have lost. RIP to all. Anyway, do check out his performance. It is something you shouldn't miss.

Check out Freddie's solo Exercises in free love, it was his impersonation of Montserrat"s Caballe vocal style. His voice will blow your mind. Did you know that even scientific study confirms Freddie Mercury had an unparalleled singing voice. That what makes his voice so special was extremely fast vibrato 7.04 Hz and subharmonics. He was able to create several more layers of harmonics than anyone else. Freddie was using a subharmonics by vibrating his ventricular folds, a technique usually found only in Tuvan throat singers. One of the conclusions from the studies was that "Mercury was vibrating something in his throat that even Pavarotti couldn't move and that kind of creates a very typical vocal fingerprint" Queen: Fat bottomed girls live at Bowl 82 White queen live at the Odeon 75

i want to point out that one must know their whole huge catalogue to begin to recognise that every member of this band had equal rights and all of them contributed number one hits. there are also songs where roger takes the lead or brian. they all are masters in terms of their craft and have great musicianship. as musicians everyone of them were so distinctive that all of them put their personal stamp on every song so all of them would have been a big loss. without anyone of them their music would have sounded different.

The first thing that attracted my attention to Queen were its choruses that distinguished it from the other bands. By the way Freddie was a genius and a great singer. But the support behind him is not given credit, especially Roger Taylor who is who he leans on for the highest notes in many of his songs.

I love the band Queen and so Freddie Mercury Too bad your reactions (subtitle) are not available (this time) in my native language, in French. Transmitting and sharing my love of the band "Queen" with my 24 year old daughter, seeing in her eyes that she "kiffe" French expression (which she loves) is always a huge joy for me. Queen IS iconic. And Freddie was one of the best frontmen and vocalists in pop rock. But……I think you err when you say “no one else had so many iconic songs.” THE BEATLES? Iconic songs up the yin-yang. And for a voice that might match Freddie……Steve Perry of Journey. Don’t know if you know that band.

You said how it was sad he died so young but left us with such a legacy... can you imagine a world where Freddie is still alive? That movie was atrocious! It made a wonderful movie and introduced another generation to Queen music but i can never forgive Brian and Roger for allowing them to portray Freddie as a monster that broke up the band to record a solo album. And when they're arguing in Jim's office when Malek as Freddie tells John that he basically doesn't really care enough about him to know what he'll go on to do. The real John and real Freddie were very very close and when Freddie died, John simply couldn't go on. John performed at the memorial concert, he recorded one more video, and basically said I'm finished do whatever you want I am retired. In real life, Freddie was John's best friend and he helped John. Freddie was the mediator in arguments. Roger & Brian had solo albums far before Freddie did. John and Mary wanted nothing to do with the movie, and Brian and Roger were heavily involved. The original movie idea was supposed to have Freddie die halfway through and tell the story of the prosperity of the band AFTER Fred died. Every studio declined it because they knew immediately that's not what people wanted to see. And why would we?! Freddie was the face, voice, personality, heart & soul of the band. It's so upsetting that Roger & Brian allowed Freddie and John to be memorialized as they were.

Freddie definitely was the face of the band, the lead singer and the frontman but without any of the members, I don't believe the band would have been as successful or successful at all. Back in the days of Queen, all of the successful rock bands had to have a great singer, an incredible guitar player, an outstanding bass player and a kick-a$$ drummer at a bare minimum. Queen managed to get all that sound and diversity out of only four members. Freddie's solo career was no where near as successful as Queen, and rather anemic before his death (after his death, his music became more popular and his operatic album with Monserrat Caballe also did well) and neither were Brian's or Roger's solo careers. In the case of Queen, the total of the whole was far greater than the sum of its parts. Queen was somehow magical. Freddie was the first to admit that Queen was a true quartet, each person was integral to the sound and magnitude of the band. I think it is easy to get caught up on Freddie, he was bigger than life and an outstanding performer, and I love him to pieces but the more I listen to Queen, the more I appreciate how much each of the others actually contributed and how they actually supported Freddie in ways that elevated his ability to perform. Freddie was definitely born to be a rock star but it was not until after he joined Brian and Roger that he finally began to hone his vocal talents and become a top tier singer.
