Thanks for sharing video. I have a 96 mercury 200hp efi that I need to replace the lower base gasket. It’s showing signs of leaking at the base. This video will definitely help when I tackle this project. Appreciate the video!!

Awesome awesome I’m glad it helped. Hopefully your mounting studs aren’t corroded in the mid section. Cus when that happens it can be a hr job to a 5 hr job lol. But good luck hope it works out

Good timing to come across this with I am about to tear into a 2021 Murc 225 EFI for a rebuild then going on a 19-foot Dory I just finished and the 225 hp is a jet drive so the Dory is going to scoot !

Nice nice. But just Remeber if I’m not mistaken the 225 are 3L engines and the 200s are 2.5L. It should for the most part be relatively the same process but there may be some very slight differences

I've been looking for videos on the bolts that actually hold the powerhead on for a few days. Currently doing a 97 EFI 200 with a blown Cylinder. Apparently 8 days ago you answered my prayers, because I'm not seeing much on this style/model showing the bolts. Bout to run to the shed and take a look at mine, cuz I've been struggling to find all the bolts lol it seems straight forward, but some of these are in hard to find areas for sure.

Hahah all good glad it helped. I lost some footage when doing it but it’s all the lower nuts as well. Your motor should be the same. They are all pretty much the same when it comes to that

I've found 10 so far, feel like I'm definitely missing a few. There's a couple of bolts that I can't tell if they need to come up by the 2 bolts that won't come all the way off without lifting the powerhead. I've never taken anything over a 90 apart, this things definitely different. I managed to get all of the ones you did in the video, but visually it looks like there's a couple more. That's a problem for tomorrow tho, stupid mosquitos came after me this evening when the sun went down lol

wow. That came apart easy. The 4 long studs have a bad habit of getting stuck.

Yes they sure do. Reason came out so easily was this was a rebuilt powerhead that blew a hole out the block. So studs and nuts weren’t corroded like they normally are. Doing one rn and gonnna have to cut the studs cus it’s so corroded on lol

Cover all the intakes and go to town. I recommend not putting any solvents on it that say it can harm electrical if it sits on it to long. There’s a lot of engine degreasers out there that are used for cars etc just gotta make sure it says electrical safe. If you already removed the powerhead I would plug the bottom of it with towels or something of that nature. Other than that it’s safe to wash

That one hose under the starter does not measure crank pressure. That is the pulse valve that pressurizes the remote 2 gallon oil tank to push oil up to the reservoir on the engine

Absolutely can do that for you guys. I already suspect that it was the wrist pin needle bearing that blew out. Powerhead was a rebuilt powerhead not sure who did it but suspect they did it wrong and that’s what blew the hole outside the block
