Yoshitaka Amano worked for Tatsunoko and was the company’s main character designer up until the mid late 1980s. Nowadays, he is known for the art of early Final Fantasy games as well as that of Arslan and Teito Monogatari, amongst many others.

Gatchaman [Battle Of The Planets for me], and Speed Racer [Boomerang and Nicktoons reruns] were my introduction to Tatsunoko. Possibly even my first introductions [besides Pokemon and Digimon] to anime ever!

Dunno where my original comment went, so I'll say it again... Tastsunoko IS THE equivalent to Hanna Barberra with a fantastic array of characters that are just as memberable! From Time Bokan, Gatchaman, Speed Racer and Tekkaman...to Cashan, Tekkaman Blade, Karas, and Soul Taker...Tastsunoko would continue to make an array of other fantastic work that'll be cherished forever!

The Animes made by Tatsunoko are our childhood all over the world. That'll be my inspiration to make my own cartoon series as being part of Tatsuo's dream.

TOTALLY giving away my age, here, but my introduction to anime was that dreadful English adaption of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, "Battle of the Planets". For its time, it was COMPLETELY different from anything else on TV at the time. I was eventually introduced to other Westernized anime like Star Blazers & Force Five, & that was it, I was permanently hooked. I also have Yoshitaka Amano's illustration book, Imagine. He is an incredibly creative talent.

I remember watching Superbook in the early 2000s on Spanish channels. You can find episodes online on KZbin with the same name. You can even find the 3d Remake with it as well on here. I can watch the original Superbook all day. The 2d Animation is so nostalgic and beautiful. 😁

I'm 55, and Tatsuo Yoshida has been a lifelong hero of mine. As a boy, I was MUCH more magnetically drawn to what he created over anything from Disney! I loved this idea of the connection between Tatsunoko and Hanna Barbera, especially their concurrent lines of superhero shows and cartoon comedy shows! I preferred the superhero versions of both, but they weren't always the ratings winners. Sometimes, a mix of the two, like the Time Bokan series would be a hit! Sadly, I do think (at least for the remainder of the 1970's), the quality did decline after Tatsuo's death. Other than the opening credits, Gatchaman II (1978) is a drastic step down in quality of animation, mecha design, and the detail with which the characters had been drawn by the end of the first series. Still, the company survived!

The first one got pulled a few months ago due to a copyright strike from Tezuka production. I reuploaded this version with the astro boy opening removed (and also fixed a spelling error in the ending text) but to my surprise, Tezuka production dropped the claim and now the original video is back.
