Little Feat - Rock and Roll Doctor (Live In Holland 1976)
Available Now: mercury-studio...
Founded by Lowell George and Bill Payne in L.A. in 1969 they produced a series of highly original albums over the next decade featuring an eclectic blend of rock 'n' roll, blues, country, folk, soul and jazz before the death of Lowell George in 1979 brought the first phase of the band's existence to an end. This digital video captures the band's performance at the famous Dutch festival Pinkpop on 7 June 1976 and captures the band's classic line-up at the peak of their powers performing many of their best known tracks.

you couldn't be more right and they are one of many that fall in that category but are very much at the top of the list. My ex-wife works at the Rock Hall I go to the job there about 8 years ago so that we could go to events we live in Cleveland and it worked out I wrote the resume she got in we went to lots of events including some rock and roll induction ceremonies. I would agree that the whole induction process and whoever votes for it and whatnot is pretty much a sham they make some good decisions on some roots of rock and roll artists and things like that who deserve it who nobody knows anything about I applaud that part of it but the people who get in before some other people for friendship and industry reasons because it's all comes out of New York and it's the decisions of a few is it travesty and embarrassing. Rock and roll is extremely important to me and to not have the votes of the musical community be the final say in this thing is unacceptable on every level. There's nobody like little George and little feet together what a group of musicians raw soul all in all the time putting their life out into it that's why people die in rock and roll because they're putting everything they got into it they should have been in the rock and roll Hall of Fame the very first day that they had come of age.

I tend to agree with you. I've listened to >a lot< of rock music over the years and I keep coming back to these guys. It's sad, in a way, to think that the best music in history was played by these guys and a few other rock bands and artists. I'm glad I was here for it.

Ay yi yi a snapshot in time. I saw them live only a year later and Lowell had ballooned up considerably and didn't look healthy. Three years after that, he was dead. But here, at the peak of a few very short years of the ultimate version of the band performing, we get pure magic. And Richie Hayward ftw forever.

Little Feat played a concert in my hometown in 1976. Me and a few friends were hangin' outside the venue a coupla hours before the gig , having a "shmoke" and a black guy approached us. He waved at us and then asked " Do any of yuh white boys have a smoke ? " We could hardly refuse and ended up gasbagging about the Allman Brothers, George Duke, Zappa, guitarists in general. He got the picture that we were gaggle of hopeless music nutz . Anyway after about half an hour this woman came out and gestured to him and tapped the side of her nose. He smiled at her and said "Sure, but these boys coming along, too! " She coolly assessed us and laughed , we were escorted backstage and had some columbian refreshment. Eh I got to shake Mr George's hand and thanked him for coming to our nowheresville town. The concert was brilliant. BTW a short time later Weather Report played the same venue aand to this day I still cant really say which was the better performence , but I have an inclination to Little Feat

In the mid 90’s I BS’d my way into getting Ritchie H on the phone asking him to come to a store I worked at. Got what seemed to be the obligatory “oh I’m not feeling well but I’ll try.” He called back a couple of hours later saying “look I really don’t feel well but are you coming to the show? I’ll have 2 tix waiting for you.” There were 2 tix and 2 backstage passes. We went back after the show and chatted a bit. Very cool, down to earth. After a bit I said “well, thanks a lot we’ll get out of your hair.” To which he said “no sit down. Want some cheesecake? We have a ton of it. What kind of gigs you got?” Amazing.

One night for me (mid-70's at Brown University), but a real thrill. One of my all-time favorite bands! I still listen to their recordings almost weekly.

@@rohantherockwiththerocketh7871 No offense to Canned Heat (or to you), but the musicians in Little Feat were much better and the band way tighter. No comparison.

Sad that so many don't even know what they are watching. As long as these guys aren't in the RNRHOF, it's a joke. I watch Ritchie playing his heart out, Lowell playing the slide, Billy, Paul, and Kenny doing their magic, and think, man, you didn't even know what you had...still love all you guys

Country-Funk maybe a lazy term to describe their style of music, but you've gotta admit, it's groovy!

Yep like the best parts of the Dead and Allmans fronted by a rather ambitious Jackson Browne type would be the closest...although I like your genre definition better

That is one tight band! Tighter than the skin on a duck's arse. Great, great musicians, sadly unknown by many today.
