Used to listen to them all the time in high school. Glad they're still going strong. Definitely surprised to see them mentioned on KZbin. :)

This is the most touching sentiment I've heard yet, of our youth screaming out to their elders not the leave the environment as fucked up as they made it. My transcription with idunnos ___. Welcome all you spies And the flags you fly a Hollywood nation What’s this revolution for? we all just want to stay inside oh we can’t hear and we can’t talk, we can play all the folk thoughts its slippin away A generation screams living by the ___ It’s murder my ___ a force is approachin Trees will fall the sky will watch and air its sound to our machines (Ref.) Don’t you leave it in our hands it’s not the right hand turn oh Don’t leave it in our hands we’re so far too far from it. Don’t you leave it in our hands it’s not the right hand turn Look around look around There’s only one way this is gonna end. So we burst the brass Oh, showing the __ no shame. With the tap of glass We fired up heavily Win the hearts and minds of all sing glowingly to the nearest ___ Ref. )

Here's my stab at it. I'm not at all confident with "my dear guene", which I admit makes no sense as guene isn't a word, that's just what it sounds like. It seems like a name and could be some literary reference I'm not familiar with. welcome all you spies and the flags you fly a Hollywood nation what's this revolution for we all just want to stay inside but we can't hear and we can't talk we can't make audible thoughts they're slipping away a generation scream (living connectivity) it's murder my dear guene (a force is approaching) trees will fall the sky will watch and air its sound to our machines (chorus) don't you leave it in our hands it's not the right answer don't you leave it in our hands we're so far, too far from it don't you leave it in our hands it's not the right answer look around, look around there's only one way this is going to end so we best the brats (oh show them that you've no shame) with a tap of glass (we fire up reveille) when the hearts and minds of all sing "glory to the newest apps" (chorus x2) look around, look around there's only one way this is going to end look around, look around there's only one good way this will end

If The Essex Green keeps making music like this, fixed to such expressive videos, they will be the Band of the Century. It's sad, warm, and it longs for change that we need.

I love what you guys do, though I was shocked to discover you are an American band. I kind of thought you were Brits

I think it represents the Millenial angst from being left a rotting planet by the greedy Baby Boomer generation and the futile, half-baked efforts of a distractable GenX to stop it.

from the video, it would seem to be a cry against iPhones and the endless looking at screens. cracked mirrors. "with a tap of the glass we fire off our revelries" so that's facebook, instagram, etc. basically, it's a cry to look up from our phones and interact with the present and those around you. also, it's a "don't text and drive" PSA.
