This book is easily my favorite in the series mostly for the ending. As soon as they enter the graveyard the entire tone of the series instantly shifts to a much darker, more adult tone (not that it didn't have dark parts before). Everything from Cedric's Death to Voldemort's Return to Crouch's Reveal to the confrontation between Fudge and Dumbledore perfectly sets up the second half of the series and lets the reader know that everything has changed forever.
@SapphWolf4 жыл бұрын
Here's my one issue with the confrontation between Fudge and Dumbledore. Or Fudge's behavior in general. His insistence on not believing Harry - as nonsensical as it already was - is made even more nonsensical by the fact that pensives exist in the universe. They can literally take the memory out of Harry's head and see for themselves exactly what happened!
@SonofJones4 жыл бұрын
@@SapphWolf that's true but honestly even if someone had suggested it he would have probably made the excuse of not wanting to waste the time. I always felt that his refusal to believe Harry came from him not wanting to face the terrible truth Voldemort had come back and continue living in the comfortable delusion he was gone forever, which is why he tried so hard to discredit Harry and Dumbledore in the next book; he wasn't interested in facts he only wanted to feel safe

SCENE 3 ''Mrs. Weasley set the potion down on the bedside cabinet, bent down, and put her arms around Harry. He had no memory of ever being hugged like this, as though by a mother. The full weight of everything he had seen that night seemed to fall in upon him as Mrs. Weasley held him to her. His mother’s face, his father’s voice, the sight of Cedric, dead on the ground all started spinning in his head until he could hardly bear it, until he was screwing up his face against the howl of misery fighting to get out of him.'' damn this scene is amazing holy shit that is absolutely incredible i love this scene so much and it melts my heart every single time the only thing that even comes close to this level of weasley love is the boggart scene in the order of the phoenix which is amazing this is the book where harry became a true member of the weasley's family and i love that he does visit the burrow in book 2 but in book 4 and onwards he visits their hearts *Thank You for reading this every like is appreciated*

I totally agree with what you are saying, but there are also some bad moments for Mrs Weasley in this book. Specially her rocky relationship with Fred and George where she insists they do what she wants instead of what they like, and she's also very cold of to Hermione after reading the article written by Reeta Skeeter, whom Mrs Weasley very well knows is a person who publishes sensationalist lies

The thing that this book accomplished way more than the other books did was that it actually made me feel bad for Harry. Don’t get me wrong, I sympathized with Harry sometimes in the other ones, but this one really does it the best. He was forced to compete in a dangerous tournament, most of his friends turned their backs on him, he got rejected by his crush, he had to watch one of his closest friends get killed, he got brutally tortured in the graveyard, and had severe PTSD at the end. Thinking about it, he went through so much in this book.
@TooSweet353 Жыл бұрын
I actually think the best part of this book is the mystery, I never really liked this book much in the past because the plot was convoluted and contrived, it wasn't nearly as airtight as Prisoner of Azkaban(except Time Turners) and the story was overall and the tournament lacked real stakes at least until the final task. But 7 major mysteries, most of which are very intriguing makes up for everything in this book + the ending with Voldemort at The Graveyard with small changes could've been in my Top 5 favourite final duel in any book: 1. Have it be Harry and Voldemort alone, so no summoning Death Eaters and over-exposition of Voldemort. 2. Have Harry actually escape Voldemort's clutches instead of Voldemort letting Harry go to prove a point and try and duel him.

I find it a little ironic how the readers often on the one hand disregards Harrys abilities because he's helped by others (mainly Ron and Hermione), and on the other hand think he is to good and learns to fast. I'm not sure why receiving help, even if you are a chosen one, makes you less of a chosen one either. Even though Harry and Tom Riddle are similar, both being halfbloods, both being orphans, both being somewhat cunning and ambitious, both breaking and bending the rules, the difference is that Tom Riddle became Lord Voldemort, who doesn't want or need anyone, he doesn't need anyone, and he fails because of that, where Harry wants and needs other people, and he wins because of that. So why is it consider a weakness on Harrys part that he have friends who helps him out? As a kind of an afterthought - Neville started out as a lonely, clumsy, insecure kid, and ended up being a badass who started a resistant movement inside Hogwarts, and the biggest change came after Neville got friends, became part of a group, didn't it. I'm pretty sure this was intentional from JKRs side.
@merphynapier425 жыл бұрын
I'm in agreement that the boys having friends and help is in no way a bad thing and that it's actually really beautiful. But I also think there's nothing wrong with discussing when he can't have done things without his friends, or with discussing the fact that quite a few things come extremely easy for him. It's just discussing the different levels of this story
@tonel.99675 жыл бұрын
@@merphynapier42 I do agree that we should and can discus the different levels of the story, but I often feel Harry gets undeserved shade because he gets help from his friends. There have been those who thinks Hermione is the real hero, because she is the most clever witch of her age, and Harry is a fraud because can't get by on his own, so I'm a bit defensive about my boy Harry ;)

@@tonel.9967 Yes! This! People either complain Harry's a Mary Sue who gets things really easily, or else they complain that he can't do anything at all without his friends. Like, seriously, which is it? Is he an overpowered Mary Sue or is he someone who relies on his friends. Make up your mind. XD I agree so much that Harry does not get the credit he deserves. He's shown to be really intelligent but at the same time he also has friends who help him, which is a great thing. I think the whole, "Hermione was the real hero" came from the movies, where Harry's street smarts and his ability to think fast were given to Hermione. Ron's lines being given to Hermione is a topic that's been talked to death, but nobody really talks about how Harry was shafted in the movies as well. And yes, I'm really defensive of Harry as well, as you can tell. I maintain that he's underrated in his own story. In fact, I think it's because he's the main character that people decide to focus more on the side characters instead.
@frankiethebookworm31635 жыл бұрын
@@merphynapier42 The thing to me, that differentiates Voldy and Harry is that despite them coming from, in a certain way similar situations, they evolve in two very opposite directions. Voldemort, just like Harry has always been alone, and he had to learn to count only on himself. Voldemort in fact refuses help, he prefers to use people for his own gain regardless of what happens to them. Harry loves having people who cares about him enough to be there for him, and help him and wanting to risk all they have in order for him to defeat Voldemort. But we also see how Harry, cares about his friends because in reality they're the only family he ever had, and he feels bad whenever they get hurt because of him. In my view, Harry accepting help and recognizing he needs people's help is JK's way to show us why the two have similar aspects, similar pasts, but they're very different and also why Harry does belong in Griffindor, because you need courage to admit you need help, and that you would have never won without help from other people. I agree , sometimes it seems like some things come easy for Harry. But I think we should take into account his years prior to Hogwarts. And the sacrifice he so willingly and bravely make, kind of balances things for me. This is the last thing, I promise. I love Nevil too. He really changes from the first book till the last.

Hermione/Krum - I don't really think it's a lack of interest on Hermione's part so much as JK's writing style is just super Harry-centric. I feel the same way about Ron and Hermione. We never see any interaction between them that doesn't involve Harry (those interactions are rarely even referenced) but we know that happens all the time. As for Barty/Moody teaching Harry to fight off the Imperius curse, I think it has more to do with the Death Eaters being fascinated by the dark arts. Whether it's the dark arts themselves or the defense of dark arts the Death Eaters just seem to want to be near them. He probably never considered it would help Harry; Voldemort had no interest in controlling him after all, just killing him. I think it was just Barty/Moody's idea of fun.

The comforting Hagrid scene is one of my all-time FAVES. I love how Hermione is banging on the door and screams "WE'RE NOT GOING AWAY HAGRID, CUZ WE LOVE YOU AND WE'LL STAY OUT HERE ALL NIGHT IF WE HAVE TO" and Dumbledore is the one to answer the door. Also, I think after Goblet of Fire, Rowling might've realized (or been tipped off by an editor or friend) that the Hermione/Krum situation, while sweet on the surface, is a bit creepy because of their age difference (they started dating when she was at most 14, and he was at least 17, an adult in the Wizarding World), and so I bet she opted to just avoid him in the narrative as much as possible.

One thing about Percy is we know that the Sorting Hat takes personal preference into account when sorting. Percy probably wanted to be a Gryffindor since his whole family had been Gryffindor so I imagine the Sorting Hat made the decision based off that, even if he may have been more suited for Slytherin
@haylierouleau4 жыл бұрын
My understanding of the imperius curse lesson was that it was extremely personal for Barty Jr. Being under the imperius curse at his own father's hand made him feel that everyone should learn to resist, that it was the worst of the unforgivable curses. Yes, we know Crouch is a Deatheater, but he was also an abused son. Not to say that the action was motivated by "good," only that it was deeply personal.

I personally think that the point is that Crouch Jr was able to fight off the imperatus curse, and that strength of will probably informed a lot of his sense of self identity. It's therefore consistent to his character that he would want to 'teach' this in his class, even if it didn't fill a well thought out agenda. Bear in mind that he taught for a year; there were probably a lot of dull rainy Thursdays for him to make classes for, outside of the crucial steps of his evil plots. Also, fastest way to pronounce Cruciatus is that it takes the same root as 'excruciating', :)

Hey! I'm getting into these reviews late but am loving them! You have a fantastic way of talking about the series, and I can tell you genuinely love it I reckon, on Harry being able to defend against the imperious curse, that it's not just him being lucky or being good at everything. It felt really believable because of the difficult life that Harry had been through up until that point, and the mental fortitude he's developed in maintaining who heh is, and not allowing the mistreatment of the Dursleys, or Malfoy, or Voldemort change him. At that point he'd already courageously proved himself against Voldemort twice. He'd suffered but always remained strong against the Dursleys at home. And he also has the strength of character to do the right thing even when it's difficult, like not allowing Sirius and Lupin to kill Pettigrew in book 3. So to me, it made sense that he was able to withstand the curse, because he had amazing strength of character and will, and had experience in proving it. Just a thought I had and wanted to share, glad you made all these videos, I'm currently up to book 5 on my re-read for the first time since I was a kid! Ciao

17:22 actually, harry is a half-blood. A half-blood refers to those wizards and witches who have magical and Muggle ancestors in their family trees, and since Lily is muggle-born, harry would be a half-blood rather than a pure-blood.
@darrenalmgren6344 жыл бұрын
I like to think that Harry can deflect the Imperius curse so quickly because he has the bit of Voldemort’s soul in him. In the books it’s described as a voice in his head propelling him to shrug off the curse. And since it’s a horcrux-soul situation, the soul is protecting its container (ie Harry) because it can’t survive without a cursed container - as its explained in the last book. I think it’s reasonable to suggest that it’s Voldemort’s soul taking control to protect its horcrux “container”.

Just found your channel and have really enjoyed your content! You're a hoot. The Lupin-to-Moody setup/delivery is one of my *favorite* literary villainy reveals. Not only for the reason you mentioned, but also for the fact that Lupin was such an awesome badass in PoA that, during the first part of the Shrieking Shack scene, even on my first read, I didn't buy him as a bad guy. Yes, Rowling had given him an air of mystery and *possible* sketchiness, but given how helpful he was during the entire year (I seriously love the character, have I mentioned that?), I *knew* that he couldn't possibly have been trying to hurt Harry. And, lo! I was right. Fast forward to Moody in GoF, and we had a guy who behaved *shadier* (child abuse! Unforgivable Curses! General orneriness!), who I *never* suspected of villainy because he seemed genuinely helpful and PoA set me up to think he was cool. It's just...[chef's kiss]. Beautiful. Moody Crouch helping Harry learn to shake off the Imperius Curse has always bugged me, but I've one possible reason (Yes, this is total fanwanking): Moody Crouch *hated* wizards who turned on Voldie or pretended that they only acted because they were under Imperius. With Moody Crouch's twisted logic, did he (even unconsciously) publicly teach Harry how to shrug the Curse off so that, in the (unlikely) event that a victorious Voldie left Harry alive, but broken, people would know that Harry wasn't just Imperio'd into defeat. Voldie hadn't "cheated" to win, he was just *that* powerful of a force. Almost like it's Moody Crouch's version of Voldie's "I want you to look at me when I kill you! I want to see the light leave your eyes!" (Which I think might be a movie-only line, but whatevs...) It's not Moody Crouch *helping* Harry by making him impervious to Imperius, it's his twisted way of trying to make Voldie's victory seem even more crushing. Teal Deer: Lupin is the best. And, apropos of nothing, the graveyard scene is one of my favorite, most chill-inducing scenes in the entire series.

Great video! GoF used to be one of my least favorite HP books, but after rereading it a few years ago, I was able to appreciate it a lot more. To add on to the point about the Krum/Hermione romance or lack thereof, I think something most people don't consider is the ages of the characters. Krum is at least 17, maybe even 18 at this point in the story while Hermione is 14. That's a significant age difference at that time of their lives and would definitely raise some eyebrows.

Please, pay attention to the fact, that Bartemius Crouch Junior is one of the Deatheaters that was accused of TORTURING Alice and Frank Longbottom. And he had balls to come and comfort Neville after they learned about Cruciatus spell. And he tried to use Neville to help Harry, though it didn't work and Neville probably never found out about that. How do you think Neville felt when he found out who Moody actually was? I think he felt horrible, he probably immediatly got rid from the book Moody gave him. This, among other things, probably contributed to Nevilles desire to learn how to figt in "Dumbledore's Army". We all remember how he reacted to Bellatrix escape. Now think how Neville felt after being so close to Crouch.

I would guess that Crouch may actually want even Harry to be resilient to Imperio. He suffered under the imperius curse and he might either genuinely hate the effects of that curse- although his keeping Moody and his Father under the imperius curse probably disproves this- or he may be curious as to how it is possible and want to observe Harry’s technique; in doing so, he builds Harry’s resilience.

I think the out-of-world explanation for why Moody/Crouch has Harry break the Imperius curse is as a plot device to show that it's possible, because the Crouches breaking the Imperius curse are important to understand how that all happens. You could argue the in-world explanation is that Crouch Jr. hates the Imperius curse as it bound him for so long--but that could be a stretch.

Oh, I know why Moody taught them to throw off Imperio. It's because he had spent such a long time as his Father's prisoner trapped under the Imperius Curse, and in fact it's implied that he was never completely freed until Wormtail and Voldemort showed up at the house and lifted the curse and turned it into their base of operations. To play the part of Moody convincingly he uses his own emotions, and with Moody's paranoia combined with the recent trauma of long mind-controlled captivity, what does he reach for in his very first teacher's module? He's still gotta teach and he's gotta do it right to fool Dumbledore. Plus, there's also the high probability that Moody Himself suggested the idea while Crouch was interrogating him for his lesson plans, who was currently under Crouch's control. But, we can't give Moody all the credit. Remember what happened when Harry almost threw off the curse the first time? Moody put the spell on Harry, again and again, until he could throw it off completely. He would have done that to every single student. It says that he "insisted" until Harry could throw off the curse completely. He couldn't stand the thought of ever being controlled again.

re. Imperious curse, I always read Moody’s teaching it as a precaution against it being used on Harry by another champion, particularly Durmstrang’s, as we learned from Malloy they are actually taught the Dark Arts. Also, though this goes to how much Jo had already planned in the series, it highlights how disastrous Occlumency with Snape is, given both spells rely on mental strength. re. Hermione and Krum, it would appear they did continue dating for a while. It would be very strange for Viktor to invite Hermione to stay with him, two months after the Yule Ball if they hadn’t continued dating in that time. Also we learn from Ginny that Hermione had snogged him or are you suggesting Hermione ‘put out’ on the first date?

What really hit me the last time I listened to Goblet of Fire is that Crouch Jr as Moody literally explains how he put Harrys name in the goblet when he gives his ”theory” on how it must have been done. And Karkaroff says something like ”well, you seem to know a lot about this”, but Crouch/Moody just answers ”it’s been my job to think like dark wizards do” and no one bats another eye. Kinda frustrating as a reader who knows what’s gonna happen that this didn’t raise more suspicion.

I wouldn't consider Percy to be mis-sorted. Percy's loyalty shifts, sure, but he believes himself to be doing the right thing. He believes that authority is correct, and should be obeyed absolutely. Percy may be the most ambitious of his family, but that ambition was encouraged as he grew up by his mother. He wanted to live a better life, and obeying the rules and obeying authority made his life better. As far as I'm concerned, Percy is very much a Gryffindor because of that. And really, it takes courage to turn away from your family and follow what you think is right. And it takes even more courage to admit your mistakes, and to ask for forgiveness. Percy is a Gryffindor, through and through.

Super Carlin Brothers did a theory video on "Was Percy Imperioused." It was very well thought out and an interesting take on the evolution of Percy's character. Yes, Percy is very ambitious, but aren't all Gryffindors. If you have about 20 minutes you should check it out. I always pronounce Madam Maxiems name like Olympics but instead of the -ics it's -pay. With Barty Crouch Jr, we know from his father's ramblings he was a Hermione level student. He got like 11 owls, and he got involved with the Death Eaters at a very early age, I think at first as a rebellion against his father, but was sucked into the seductive nature of dark magic. Imagine if Hermione hadn't befriended Harry and Ron and someone came to her and said that only truely powerful wizards who studied hard should be allowed at Hogwarts and they needed to rid the school of slackers. Yes, it is on a smaller scale, but you got this impressionable kid who wants his father's attention so he rebels. In the court scene, we see him begging his father to believe him. Saying "I didn't do it," and wanting his father to believe him. Considering Bellatrix was also in the same court as him his "secret" never got out that he did falter in his worship of Voldy. Bringing the point around: Knowing that Junior was a good student and let's face it, he took a liking to Harry- teaching him to fight off the Imperious curse could have just been a natural wanting to impart some of his knowledge on to Harry. Crouch's father imperious him for years and finding someone who had such a strong mind to ward it off would have intrigued him.
@floydmcmondo3 жыл бұрын
As I understood it, the decision to teach the kids defense against the unforgivable curses was Dumbledore's. He says that he's there for one year as a special favor to Dumbledore, meaning the real Moody was the one doing the favor. Then he says that the Ministry says he's only to teach them counter curses, but Dumbledore believes the kids have better nerves, the fake Moody agrees but it's possibly a part of the disguise because the real Moody would agree with Dumbledore. He's fooling some of the greatest wizards and witches of all time and to do that he has to not just look like Moody, but also behave as if. Since we don't have a window into his thoughts, he may have actually been nervous and worried about Harry's ability to fight off the curse; but still, it would have seemed odd if he wasn't outwardly impressed.

YES! Percy is TOTALLY a Slytherin! I agree, the Sorting Hat is not infallible. It probably just assumed that all the Weasleys are Gryffindors and didn't bother to actually poke around in his head much. Harry's ability to fight off the Imperius curse is a mark of his strength of character. It's explained in one or two places in the series that yes, the Imperius curse CAN be resisted, but it takes a strong sense of self which most wizards lack. The people who can fight off Imperius with relative ease are, I imagine, the same people who would stand by their principles even when their leaders are telling them to shut up and follow orders, who stand by their friends even if the rest of the world was trying to discredit or ostracize them, and who cannot be bullied into changing their beliefs. Percy, who follows orders blindly, would be completely susceptible to the Imperius curse. Fudge, who would rather silence and discredit people he used to respect because they say something that makes him uncomfortable, would be susceptible. Harry, who has always stood by his convictions, refused to be silent when people called him a liar, and remained unfalteringly loyal to his friends no matter what others said or suspected about them, seems to have a particular talent for not caring what other people think - or even being galvanized to dig his heels in when others tell him to act in a way other than he feels is right. This, I think, is the root of his ability to resist the Imperius curse. Sorry to nitpick but Beauxbatons is pronounced BOH-buh-ton. Madame Maxime's first name (Olympe) is pronounced oh-LAMP. JKR uses a lot of French in the books because she used to be a French teacher (or maybe it was an English teacher IN France, I forget). This is debatable (of course), what actually constitutes a pure blood. Some might call Harry a pure blood because his mother was a witch, but most seem to classify him as a half-blood. I think this is because the only wizards who actually care about blood status are generally the ones who are obsessed with being "pure blood", families like the Blacks and the Malfoys. They see Muggle-borns as being equivalent to Muggles, and therefore the children of Muggle-borns, like Harry, are considered half-bloods just as much as if their Muggle-born parent were a fully non-magical Muggle. His mother's status as Muggle-born is similar enough, in Voldemort's mind, to his own Muggle father, for him to identify with Harry as another half-blood ("marking him as his equal"), and part of the reason he chooses Harry as the threat rather than the pure-blood Neville. I don't agree that Harry is just able to do things easily all the time. He definitely has some natural aptitude in certain areas, particularly in the area of Defense Against the Dark Arts and Quidditch, and he has good intuition and good instincts, and he's a quick thinker under pressure. He's also got pretty good deductive skills as evidenced by his ability to make connections when they're solving mysteries, which is really what they spend most of the books doing. But when it comes to academics, which is the bulk of their magical education and occupies the vast majority of their time (if not the narrative itself), he's only slightly better than Ron and nowhere near Hermione. He doesn't like studying, he's not intellectually curious (at least not about things in books), and he usually does only average in tests of magical theory, and slightly better than average in practical exams. This seems like a pretty typical combination of strengths and weaknesses that I think most of us can identify with. Oh, and he also totally sucks at occlumency, and maybe this is in large part because it was Snape teaching him, but it also plays to his weaknesses. Harry wears his heart on his sleeve and is proud of his convictions; he considers it the height of cowardice to keep quiet just because speaking the truth will get in trouble. He couldn't even keep his mouth shut in Umbridge's class, even though every outburst earned him a week of hours-long torture sessions. Occlumency is all about hiding your thoughts and controlling your emotions, and Harry has a tendency towards righteous anger and outspokenness that make this branch of magic particularly difficult for him. I agree totally about the tasks being horrible spectator sports - I always got annoyed by this as well. If Muggles would have used drone footage to broadcast events like the third task to the audience, why on Earth wouldn't the wizards have figured out something equivalent? Another case of "Those poor Muggles struggling along with their fellytones like cavemen," right? But I have to defend the champions on the issue of the loved ones who are taken and held hostage. Remember, Harry was never asked who he values most in the world. It seems like someone in authority just observed the kids and made the decision for them. "Let's see, who are these champions spending the most time around? Krum's always following around that Hermione Granger, and Diggory has been going out with that Cho Chang girl, so we'll just use them." I mean it's all just for spectacle, right? I don't think they were supposed to take it seriously that this was the most important person in the world to them, it was just someone they cared about so it would be dramatic and they'd be motivated.

Merphy: "Harry doesn't have a family to care about." Dursleys: "...That's fair. We don't like him either."

I am currently reading all the HP books and I just finished this one(I have watched the movies as a kid, but only read the last two books) and I would like to say that it really acts as an opener for the story to finally get to its main and darker roots. I felt the change from the first three books and really enjoyed the detailed yet easy to follow way everything unravels as the plot progresses in this one. Also, this is the first time the book and its movie adaptation have some more differences.

Harry isn't pureblood... His mum is muggleborn, hence Petunia

Yikes! I have never understood whether i like Moody or Barty Crouch Jr. I always start scratching my head when i think about it.

I think Crouch Jr. taught Harry to beat the imperious curse because he was enslaved with it for so long by his father that he wanted to teach anyone who could do it to break free from it no matter who that person was. I think it was all emotion.

Slughorn was one of only two redeemable Slytherins that bothered to show up in those books. And the other we would never have guessed until the end... Snape. But the fact that Slughorn stayed and fought Voldy really did my heart good. I'm with ya. i wish there had been more shades of grey regarding dark wizards from more than one house.

I'm confused on the concept of half-blood and how Harry is one. Is the idea of the blood to be taken literally regardless of magical ability? eg: Lilly Potter is muggle-born, but even though she's a witch, she's still passing on muggle blood? Is that how it works? If so, why? Wouldn't the ability to do magic be the determinant of the kind of "blood" you pass on to your child? Unless the books say something different, wouldn't that make more sense?

I'm not sure what the rationale behind it is but my understanding is that you have to be two generations removed from muggleborns before you aren't considered half blood anymore. I assume it is intentionally meant to be a bit stupid because JK wants to draw attention the the absurdity of having a noble class in society.

I've though about why he learns Harry to shake the imperius curse. This is what I came up with ; I think the imperius curse thing is because he himself had learned to shake it off. He wasn't thinking about Voldemort at that point I think, but rather explaining that it could be shaken off as recognition of he himself having been able to do it. Something that separates him again from his father because he couldn't shake it off. I think he prides himself in being able to do so and he reflects that in that scene making the explanation of his escape at the end more valid. Or at least that's how I see it. Hope that makes sense.

Imo the best task is the first one, i feel it really intensifies and gets to you how nervous harry was during the couple days and moments before the start of the tournament and the way it plays out is also quite cool.

Why Crouch Jr focused so much on Harry to teach him to counter Imperious spell? Because Moody would have. He had to stay the whole year, under Dumbledore without being spotted at all(or suddenly things he touched/manipulated would have been followed way more carefully, making making the cup a portkey near impossible, or even patrolling the maze at all, etc.) So he had to do everything Moody might or would do, no matter what. Thankfully for him, Moody was known to be a little crazy, so the few times he slipped in his role, it was brushed off as being Moody's madness showing.
