Sorry for the "clickbait" title, but it is true! I do want to sell these builds, so if you would like to discuss further, shoot me an email at James@merrricksgarage.com
Regarding the K30Burb, it is awesome to be moving back into the reassembly phase. Parts are slowly trickling in and getting bolted in as they arrive! I think a steering video is in the future!
Check out my Patreon Account. I post behind the scenes, early uploads, Q and A and more. Help me keep the lights on and buying more shop and camera gear!

The square body Chevy from 73-87 (91 in the suburban/K5) is my favorite body style. The OBS from 88-98 is a close 2nd. This build is pretty sweet.

Live the dream. I gave you a like .I know what you mean about waiting for parts. In my own experience about loose fasteners, yes torquing them and marking them helps. However its a never ending job. even though you have torqued fasteners. They seem to always loosen up things shift .After or before a wheeling trip its a good idea to retorque. your bolts and nuts.They may still be at there marks however that doesn`t mean they haven't settled and that you won`t have any play in lets say leaf springs bushings or spring hanger bushings.

looking good dude! i did something on my cummins swapped burb that made a huge difference. even though i have custom springs in the front along with all the ORD suspension goodness that could go along with them, i totally ignored the rear springs. so, the burb would hula or bellydance some on long highway corners... when i bought that front suspension from ORD, i also bought Tuff-Country arched springs for the rear but didn't install them till recently. they made all the difference. i had not realized how bad those springs were worn out!!! i'm guessing they were stock springs that i had used 5" lift blocks with when i installed the dana 80. the new springs are advertised as 4" but after setting in were about the same as the oldies with the big blocks! so much better! thanks ORD!!! Probably want to stick with a Sanden style compressor if it works with the Cummins bracket. Condensor isn't ideal for R134a but it will work. I am using the original style on my Burb with the R134a and it works ok. I would probably go with an in dash modern kit and not try to use the factory stuff unless it is all in great shape. Not worth trying to source if the truck doesnt have it. I used some thin aluminum bar to mount two e fans in front of the condensor to get good airlfow while stopped so it doesn't reduce cooling in traffic. Something they never did on these trucks in the 80's. Pretty easy to do right off the sheetmetal behind the grille.

@MerricksGarage
@MerricksGarage 3 жыл бұрын
yea, thats a good idea. I will be making quite a bit of hose coming up here. the system on the burb was originally converted to R134a and worked great. Everything is there still so I am going to try and just use the stock compressor if I can make a bracket to run it!

Steelit does have a unique texture dried look don't it... I'm kinda hinting tworda the actual powder coating tool at harbor friegt its a gem of a tool and actually turns out comparable results. I'm in laguna hills and frequently in s.c. area. The store off eltoro has a bitchen kit for affordble rate fyi.. let's build my silverado up when ur looking for a project to record flip to complete SAS ... I'd most likely be down to pay for the shop time space I sucked up. Don't get my blandness confused with being naggy. Lol I'm simply a simple bastard country boy who has fab and offroad history from a shop I used to work at and help at type deal and have always built up dif projects etc. Itching to either whip up a set of extended and turned TTB dana 50 beams to float under me silverado.
