There is no absolutely best barbecue in the country it's just that it's made better throughout the South

Now you know why Americans are horrified at canned beans on toast. Baked beans aren't Heinz beans.

It all depends on the type of BBQ. The Carolinas do pulled pork better than anyone else. Texas does the best Brisket and beef ribs, and Kansas City does incredible Burnt Ends. There's also so much regional availability on flavor it's all incredibly delicious no matter where you go in the South.

Slow roasted BBQ is hard to imagine if you haven't had it, but it's impossible to forget once you have. And there are as many styles as there are places and people who cook it. Certain regions favor different techniques, but you really can't go wrong with any BBQ place popular with the locals.

I always try to avoid sweeping generalizations because we have every type of food at our fingertips in America (for the most part). That being said…I’m not going to go to the south for Italian/pizza and I’m not going to the north for BBQ. We all have our gifts. ❤️❤️❤️

Texas, Louisiana, Kansas City, Memphis, Atlanta, all have their own versions of awesome BBQ. Dry rub, wet rub, smoked, injected, marinated… it’s really just personal preference but it’s all awesome. Same with chili.

I’m from Louisiana, you can get good bbq all over the south but, we are best at our sausages. Cracklings can be bought all over the place down here, even some gas stations will have them or special shops on the highway. I argue we are the best state at those as well.

My dad did his own brisket and pork ribs, but not as nice as these. Baked potato is standard with steak. Potato soup is good as clam chowder.

Texas is far above anyone on Brisket and there are many many places to get different styles to it but the method is somewhat the same. That is not to say you can't find good Brisket outside of Texas, but they do beef so great. Just my opinion.

What people have been doing in recent years with Brussel sprouts is roasting them. This gives it a whole different flavor than boiling them. I hated brussels sprouts all my life until a few years ago when I’ve had roasted Brussel sprouts for the first time. It makes a big difference. I don’t know how to make them myself but I love them.

It really doesn't matter in the debate because you'll always find someone somewhere who can do it better so it comes down to personal preference every time. I can't only guess that Ollie didn't like the potato soup because it was too creamy. A great potato soup IMO has nice sized chunks of potato so it has more of a stew consistency. I do prefer sticky ribs but there is a good bbq place in the UK. If you go to the Mr. H and Friends page, they found a restaurant that is about as authentic Texas bbq as you're probably going to find in the UK because the cooks actually travel to the US a few times a year to get all the tips/tricks. Mr. H and his wife and daughter just did their own Texas tour in October so you can get another point of view from what they were able to enjoy.

I have been watching the Mr. H and Friends videos of them trying different restaurants in Texas. One of the things that has struck me is that they never order the baked/jacket potatoes. I am thinking that this is the first time Jolly has gotten it. This one is called a Loaded Baked Potato. They probably have other versions.

Louisiana and Texas BBQ are basically the same, made the same way. Pretty much. Louisiana is right next to Texas. It's regional. Smoked. You don't hear about Northern BBQ so.... We put chopped brisket on our baked potatoes.

It's not really about which BBQ is better, it's about preference. You have Kansas City, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, the SouthWest. It depends on the flavors of your region. You even have some people here in NYC, where I live, that are putting their Caribbean twist to BBQ. It also depends on the type of meat and if you like a dry rub or wet rub, or if your sauce is more ketchup and molasses base or vinegar base. Barbequing is such a nice type of food to showcase flavors and you can put your twist to it. The most famous would be southern BBQ but you can travel the south and taste the difference depending on the state. If you're ever in the States and that's your thing(food), travel south and you cannot go wrong visiting any BBQ place, it will take you at least a month though lol. And it's not only about the meat, the sides like you saw in the video are amazing. Cheers dude and hopefully you'll get to experience this and many more things about the US someday 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You can get good bbq just about anywhere, just look up the top rated smokehouse within an hour of you. These cooking techniques arent really local to any state or restaurant, just certain styles maybe more common in certain regions. Lots of people have learned how to make great BBQ in their backyards even over the last decade or two, almost every new award winning bbq resturants starts out of someones backyard or they get a food truck on the cheap. Ill be honest, as an american, I dont think british sausage is good at all. Its very bland and underspiced and they also almost never use beef in their sausages. Every BBQ place has its own beef sausages because they have a lot of left over beef scrap. That crackling is basically a chunk of smoked pork belly with some crackling on it lol. Only good bbq can make a straight man look at another man like this 4:44. And the idea of beans on a baked potato seems like a meme/joke. If someone served that to me before I saw this video, i would have thought "oh hahaha its that meme where you put baked beans in weird places where they dont belong"

When it comes to BBQ, it's all pretty damn good tbh (as far as the regions/styles go, I mean). I prefer Kansas and Texas BBQ but I'd never say no to Carolina-style either. It's honestly so good, to the point where just remembering 'Hey, this exists' puts me in a better mood lol. Indian, American BBQ, and Mexican food are all right up there at the top for me.
