The thing is, you can taste every second of the 12 hours of cooking. The misconception is we eat this way everyday. Maybe once a month.

Chicken wings became popular first in Buffalo, NY. The owners of The Anchor Bat fried them, tossed them in a sauce made from Frank’s Red Hot and butter, and served them the blue cheese dressing. A lot of bbq joints in the US have taken to smoking wings, a different but really good way to enjoy them.

Clarification, Buffalo wings first became popular in NY. Chicken wings were always popular in the South and in the countryside areas.

They paid a boatload of money for all that (unless it was comped by the restaurant). That’s not a meal people would buy regularly. You don’t just sit there and order one thing after another after another. That’s not what normal people eat in one visit, that what someone might’ve eaten in the 5 trips they’ve made in the past year. You don’t go do this once or twice a week, it’s maybe once every 6 or 8 weeks. I’m a bbq lover smack in the middle of Texas and I probably get barbecue 5 or 6 times a year. When I go do bbq, I buy far less - typically a 1/2 pound of brisket and a sausage link, say. No sides. Soft drink with that. Easily $20 - $25 for that much meat and drink. They must’ve spent over $200 for the three I’d think.

Dude… When you come to Alberta to watch the Oilers and the flames, there is a roadside barbeque house just south of Calgary near Okotoks … Outstanding southern atmosphere, and the food is second to none!… One more reason to make Alberta your first spot to visit in Canada!!!

We eat BBQ like this about once a week, maybe twice, it is just not something you eat every day. And it can be expensive, it depends on where you live in the country, and if it is a big city or not, food is higher priced in the big cities. I have a place near me in East Peoria Illinois called Smokin Notes BBQ, they smoke their ribs for 12 hours and they are awesome. They also make their own BBQ sauce, and they smoke it a little, so it is amazing too. And they have the best hand cut home made french fries I have ever had in my life. They sell a full rack of ribs, with 2 sides, for $29.99, which is a pretty good price. It is enough for 2 people, so that's only $15.00 per person. Me and a friend go there and get that and split it, we just get 2 orders of fries. I dip my ribs and my fries in the BBQ sauce, it is do good, I get a to go box and I take some of their BBQ sauce home with me. I would say we eat there about 2 or 3 times a month.

Mert, the light colored beans are black eyed peas. Typically they're cooked with smoked hamhocks, for hours, with onions and garlic. Coming from Southern stock, I've always had black eyed peas, hamhocks, rice and cornbread on New Years, traditionally for good luck. It's yum!

Baked beans taste better than beans in tomato sauce. Baked beans are made with molasses and most of the time, have meat, i.e. pork, bacon, or sometimes beef, i.e. minced hamburger, mixed in along with brown sugar and onions and sometimes, we Americans put bits of green pepper in our baked beans as well. To make them into barbecue beans, we add premade barbecue sauce, if lazy at times. or make it from scratch, along with brisket if we so desire.

You wouldn’t normally get all the types of sides and meats like they do in these videos. So you could have something like this (but only one meal and not 4 or however many they are eating here) every couple of weeks. But if it’s expensive like people have said in the comments then maybe once a month or on special occasions.
