I think that the "no atraction to men" was retconed into "no libido", that would make a bit more sense on MGS1 and MGS4's endings. Also "psychotherapy" can wear off, right?

When I played MGS1 for the first time back in 2015, Meryl instently became my first(and the only) video game crush. And six years later, when I finally got PS3, and seeing her again and what she's been gone trough MGS4, has been such a treat for me. And I'm glad that she got what she wanted. Her asking about wedding with big cake was cheesy af, but my girl diserved it.

My two cents concerning the marriage are that the in universe explanation could be that Meryl isn't interested in tough guys like Snake anymore after getting dumped by him. And after the end of the Patriots' reign it makes sense to marry someone who would function better in a civilian environment than a military one. Considering how distant Snake can be, which isn't surprising when one takes his upringing into account, it isn't too far fetched to think that Johnny would be a be a far better family man than Snake could ever be. Between MG 2 and MGS Snake spent most of his time alone and he had a drinking problem if I'm not mistaken. He needed to be out there and do something. He was a man of action and I can't imagine him settling down to be honest. The other explanation I can think of is that Johnny achieving to have a relationship with Meryl is a joke at the expense of the player. Johnny embodies the average MGS player in an actual war zone: being completely out of his depth while trying to impress the main characters and failing. It is no secret that many players feel attracted by Meryl but couldn't even hope to meet her standards in real life. His eventual relationship with Meryl is Kojima's way to give the players what they want while simoultaneously moking them for it. When one thinks about it that way the wedding is a lot less bewildering and actually pretty funny.

Meryl is one of my all time favorite mgs characters. I was a teenager when I first played thru mgs1 and I would play it again and again. I was hoping that she would still be part of the team in mgs2. I think the ending with her and Snake is the best ending out of all the mgs games, and 2nd best isn’t even close. But since Kojima loves money and hates metal gear fans, we got mgs4. What an abomination. At first, Meryl seemed unscathed by the massive character assassinations taking place all around her. She even told Snake she never gave up on him, put her hand on his shoulder. It showed that she never stopped loving him. Then Kojima gives us the big middle finger and ships her with Johnny, better known by his code name, Liquid poop. Meryl gets mind controlled, and then her romance with Johnny is sprung on us. Not earned in anyway, if anyone earned it, it was Snake. But no, Kojima hates us. So it was Johnny. I believe that Meryl was still suffering the effects of mind control and would never in her right mind marry Johnny.

Honestly i dont know why they chose not to have Merly and snake hook up at the end, it kinda feels like they just wanted to end David bloodline period. Which is really sad no one gets to choose how there born. Also sorry forgetting Huey and Octicon mixed up in the chat the other day stupid me.

Meryl's father is Colonel Campbell, I should have made that clearer, sorry! I have a vid on Colonel Campbell that outlines why Meryl didn't know he was her father for the longest time... Spoiler alert it's because he's a dirtbag and cheated with his brother's wife (hence why Meryl thinks her uncle is her father)

FOXHOUND was disbanded after MGS1 if I'm not mistaken. And the explanation for why Johnny doesn't have nanos is he's afraid of needles and ditched every nanomachine injection haha
