Big Boss shows the end of an era. Unlike Zero, Big Boss kills Zero and achieves his goal of a nation without borders, a world where soldiers are no longer used. When Big Boss appears, the AI is already dead. It’s more of a symbolism thing than anything.

I’d just like to point out that if big boss didn’t appear: 1: solid snake would have committed suicide despite having 9 more years thanks to the new foxdie killing the old foxdie (correct me if I’m wrong). 2: Someone could have taken big boss’ DNA and used it to create another clone if big boss didn’t die by solid snake’s foxdie (more sequels). (The second argument is weaker because of many different factors that result in BSing into a way to create another clone (and or sequel). But is probably still important considering that Hideo did not want any more sequels after 4. And so, killing the only way to make another solid snake was a good idea for the franchise. (Unless Konami wanted to make metal gear Johnny). Even though this is just my opinion let us be happy that this is the ending to the mgs series no matter how you see it than snake becoming a cyborg ninja or Metal Gear Survive being cannon.

@@Dalek59862 nope I’m saying that if Konami were trying to milk a sequel they would have turned solid snake into a cyborg ninja for no reason (or something idk). But just a joke that’s all.

Yeah so doing this video that you're about to do would be pointless as the doctor madnar in metal gear 1 and 2 is not the same one as the doctor madnar that Raiden dialysis as if you actually research into it Dr madnar dies in metal gear 2 Solid Snake because Solid Snake kills him. So it's not the same doctor madnar. Now could it be his daughter that's possible. She could have became a doctor like her dad but instead of doing evil deeds such as creating a metal gear instead she decided to help people in need. Doing actual medical research and operating on those who needed it. Like raiden from metal gear Solid 4. Also in metal gear 1 that wasn't Big Boss that was venom snake.

Big Boss just continued the rules that Kaz set for their friendship. Kaz proved that he was resentful, manipulative, had a different morality then Boss. He left him in the very capable hands of Venom. We're just gonna pretend that he wasnt a metal gear fighting machine who was loyal to his men and to human life? Like if I had a brother like that I'd leave my best friends in his care while I was doing my own side quests I feel like I should keep seperate from the ones closest, especially if its to get right with my own internal battles

Firstly, to be clear, Ocelot was not be haunted/ possessed by Liquid. He had been hypnotized (presumably by himself) to act that way (and probably to even believe his own act). My statement comes from MGS4 and uses MGS5 for context clues. He's my retconned head cannon: I think Ocelot's true intentions were A) to undermine and ultimately destroy the Patriots and B) to kill the Enfants Terible (Liquid, Solid and Solidus) as they were BB's unwanted clones. To that end, as Ocelot vowed to Miller, when Miller chose to work with Snake against BB, Ocelot worked with and ultimately used Liquid to kill Miller (though he was hoping to kill Solid as well). To this end, he also worked with and used Solidus. He probably wanted Solid to be sent to Shadow Moses carrying Fox Die intending to take out both sons on one stroke while simultaneously getting his hands on Rex's data. As a requisite of his plans (and as part of his feigned loyalty to Solidus) he actively worked to prevent Liquid from succeeding. Naomi's unexpected involvement (he alterations to Fox Die and the intrusion of Frank Jaeger) prevented Solid's death and cost Ocelot his arm. The Patriots' intervention via SecDef Jim Houseman nearly caused a catastrophic failure but, instead, lead to Solidus' Rebellion in MGS2. Side note: The death of Donald Anderson served two purposes. First, it served to prevent Liquid from launching the nuke. Second, Donald Anderson was a founding member of The Patriots.

The symbolism of Big Boss killing Zero is rather ironic if you think about it. Zero made FOX and Big Boss made FOXHOUND, and as we all know foxhounds are specifically used for the purpose of hunting foxes. In that sense Big Boss (the FOXHOUND) killed Zero (the FOX).

Big Boss is a genetic patchwork of body parts harvested from his own clones, and, with his possession of The Boss's Patriot hand-rifle and Portable Ops's Gene's coat, he stands as the physical culmination of the Saga's villains. His character's history stands as a blend of motivations received from The Boss and finances received from Gene. His role and identity have varied according to whatever each Saga game needed. He supplied the main villain for the MSX Metal Gears, the physical cure for the Genome Army in MGS1, Solidus's ideological inspiration in MGS2, and the falling hero in MGS3. In his body, character motivations, and relationships to each game, Big Boss represents all tropes associated with the Saga's larger trope of The Insurrector. Meanwhile, Zero represents the Saga's larger trope of the Force Risen Against. His character is a patchwork in the same manner as Big Boss's body. He attains his role as the Saga's final villain when MGS4 heaps upon him all the data about the Patriots culled from the margins of previous games. Each lingering conspiracy gels upon his character. His physical state recalls the invalid presence of MGS3's The End - a warrior from the previous generation whose death passes the baton to the next. His design also recalls that of MGS1's Armstech President Kenneth Baker: a bald, immobile old man who bore responsibility for multiple black projects. Zero is a monstrous compendium of the Saga's dark forces in a state of decay. MGS4 communicates that defragmentation is complete by reprising the contents of its first Flashback Event, Big Boss's saluting the grave of The Boss. Now, though, MGS4 associates those dead images with live images of the correct character. Solid Snake's life as a proxyends, and the Saga's memory of Big Boss finally reattaches to Big Boss.
@Sjono9 күн бұрын
Critics have denounced Big Boss's appearance as MGS4's greatest narrative blunder. If we go along with MGS4's formal rules - if we regard MGS4 as driven by form as well as by narrative - only Big Boss's appearance can free Solid Snake from a proxy's death. (This recalls MGS2's insistence that only the appearance of the real Solid Snake in MGS2 saved Raiden from becoming who he was not.) With the game going so far as to treat Solid Snake like Big Boss even so much as giving him an eyepatch and have him reprise MGS3’s ending in place of real Big Boss, it was very essential he show up to give Solid Snake his own independence just like Solid Snake did for Raiden in MGS2

Ocelot is how he is supposed to be neither good nor bad he’s just loyal to Big Boss to the end and will never give up on him even if it means destroying the whole world for it he will gladly do it in a heartbeat which is what his mother did Dying for her country (despite her country betraying and disposing of her) showing that the legacy of the boss indirectly continued through Ocelot ofc not by the same methods of her

This makes for a good watch. I enjoyed it. I like Johnny man too. And yeah considering only the "Solid" games, Johnny may have more appearances than Solid Snake himself, even if in the form of small references. But Solid still has the most number of appearances if we take all canon and non canon materials into consideration. Now that I think about it, it's probably just Big boss with the most number of appearances.

Isn't Skullface calling him a traitor pretty hard evidence? I mean, he was outright mad when he refused to be judged by Huey's standards, and he had literally no reason to lie because he did not know Snake was there. I mean, that should pretty much confirm the whole betrayal thing, no?
