BACK some years ago I had the pleasure of flying the airplane that the wonderful Meryl Streep was aboard. She was in First Class, of course, and my Flight Attendants mentioned her. AS we were de-boarding I jumped from the Flight Deck to simply acknowledge her, and say how much I loved her performance in "Angels in America". Lovely woman.

I love Meryl Streep. Her depth as a person, intellectual and emotional curiosity, her complete surrender to the moment is amazing to watch. More often than I like, Stephen just glazes over, shies away from accompanying a guest to that place. And especially in this vulnerable moment where she talks about her visceral sensation of her physical location and her realization in time what it must heave meant for the people who went before her, he just boulders over that moment and you see her catching herself. It is so pure and unfiltered, but I would have loved for him to give her time to linger in that moment, or better yet, join her there. Love Meryl Streep. On a side note, completely but utterly baseless proud of her Dutch connection.... Dare I say that it makes her a littelbit European?
@jwvandegronden4 жыл бұрын
@Aaron Johnson they are two completely different animals, Stephen’s strength lies in his political savageness and geek cultural god mode which has lifted a while different fringe of society out of obscurity. But that notwithstanding, I hate it when he fails to deliver due to a sudden rush of self consciousness it seems, something I haven’t even caught a glimpse of with Norton. Who can also suffer from a depth of a puddle, but that is his shtick anyway making his hilarious interventions and connecting dots no one else saw, his signature whip that brings the house down!
@Pinocicci4 жыл бұрын
Loved your comment. You’re a delight.

I think it's that lingering European part of Streep that imbues her with more depth. Yes, it's perfectly ok for you to indulge in that Dutch connection.

I live in Australia and we didn't really have proms as such. The first one I had I was 12 years old. We were all supposed to go and my mum convinced me to ask someone to go with me. So I called up someone I liked. This was before cellphones so I actually had to call and talk to her. Her mum answered and I asked to speak to my date. She sounded a little surprised but said yes. I was feeling pretty happy. That did not last. A couple of minutes later the phone rang. My mum answered. Apparently as soon as my date got off the phone she burst into tears. We ended up just saying hello when we got there and like every early dance the guys and girls split into groups. Sooooo, wasn't a great start.

She is like 74 years old. How does she look tso young? "Death Becomes Her" has become real. Should a woman in her mid 70s have a wrinkle free forehead? Normally, I would not care but thid another unfair burden gap placed between wealthy and poor. The Wealthy can age forever 40 now . The Poor and regular folk still age like dogcrap. Age used to be the great equalizer. Sadly, it isn't anymore. Embrace your inner-Grandma Meryl. You have been a spoiled, coddeled special child your entire life in the oublic spotligjt. Have you once had a brick of adversity? The rest of us have had adversity after adversity; and are told it makes us a better person ; that we have to grow -- but it always seems you are already perfect and do not have these lifetimes of "growth" experiences like the rest of us Why am I jealous? Why I and others had so much adversity and bullshit? I do not have hate in my heart. All men are supposed to be created equal. We should all have semi-charmed lives like Meryl Streep God.
