Great demo, playing and breakdown, this is that all encompassing run through that we all need to evaluate an amps. We often can't actually get to play these amps before buying, so this helps with the decision of whether they may work for your needs. I'm a clean to mid hair Strat and Tele player. I have one of these combos headed my way and I think it will work in my studio and have THE feel that I need. I do love my Mark 5 25 combo which is also a sweet clean amp with single coils.

These sound great but they almost lack a top end clean sparkle. I’m trying to decide between this amp and the Fillmore 50 and a deluxe reverb reissue ‘65. The deluxe are amazing, but I wouldn’t need to bring pedals to practice with this amp. Haha. I love the sound I wish some reviews would show the treble cranked up a bit more because I think it could probably do it.

Can you generate similar tones with the Mark V?
@miguellopez1063 жыл бұрын
With the Mark V you have more modern type than true vintage feel with the Fillmore. But if you learn to use and explore enough the Mark V you can have a more complex collection of timbers you won't have in any other amp. C90 speaker in open cabs in pair or single for the clean, broken tones, crunch as well, but if you want to get more punchy tones you may need a proper cab closed back and greenback or creamback for a plexi feel and V30 UK made for modern overdrive/high gain sounds. Pairing proper guitar/pickups with proper DC resistance as well. Both mark and Fillmore can do this but matching all the ingredients as mentioned. Low dc pickups are honky and microphonic in a hard distortion set, the same as using pickups for distortion in a clean channel is too much, compressed and boomy(if that's what you want). Alnico II in a single cut axe with low/moderate dc resistance is awesome for crunch hard rock or classic rock. It's all about matching. I wanna try the Fillmore with 10 in Jensen or weber or warehouse speaker with a vintage alder strat laquered, or a swamp ash tele vintage as well in the Fillmore 25
@NebulaStudios13 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have a mix of guitars with different pickups. Tom Anderson, Alembic Active, and Lollar Imperials. A Collings SoCo with Lollars, but these are different outputs than the regular Imperials.

My 65 Princeton Reverb Tweed reissue 1x12 combo is next to my Fillmore 25 1x12 combo. The Fender sounds bigger more open, Boogie sounds a little boxy but has lots more versatility. Both have a nice sparkly clean sound but the Fender is a bit sweeter. The boog has a great overdrive selection though. I wont sell either.

Hi Logan, I'm interested in the purchase of one of the Fillmore models, have you tried and compared the 25, 50 and 100 models? I can hear in the demos that the 25 is pure heaven in the clean territory, but lack of something in the crunch/drive tones, I've noticed kind of a boxy effect some musicians like. On the other hand, I've hard in the 100 model a bold big compressed saged not too articulated or crystal clear CLEAN but such an amazing big fat huge smashing crunch and drive tones for heavy hard rock chords, thick leads and legatto neck pickup singing solo sweet notes. So, what has been your experience in the clean 100w Fillmore soaking the power to get a more clear and articulated tone instead of a bold big 100 losen response? Is it possible to get a 25 feel like clean tone with the Fillmore 100 in low power rate? Thanks! Cheers.

@@miguellopez106 at 2am after a gig, and possibly a long day at work, I have no interest in carrying a 60lb.. amp in and out of a club, to my car, upstairs, around tight corners, etc. It's also way more powerful than 99 percent will ever need.

Got the 50 last month. Solid build and incredible flexibility. Perfect for my classic rock band. The only thing I don't love about it is the long reverb trail. The reverb trail is just too insistent for my taste as it lingers long after notes or chords decay with no tonality. I noticed this in demos as well but still bought one because otherwise it sounds tremendous. That aside, I would recommend this amp to anyone seeking versatility and great sound.

Lets see , if you run 2 - 6V6 tubes safely you can get 17-18 watts over that you risk blowing the tubes and transformer ! Tube data on 6V6 is about 12watts at max 450 volts , testing only ! Most all amps get 7-9 watts per 6v6 at 389 volts on the plates ! Exact same specs. for El84 tubes ! Just saying get real on wattage claims !
@mranalog2413 ай бұрын
The specs on the Mesa website say 18 watts clean, 23 watts max. So they agree with your math.
