I'm always like "Mesas are overrated, they're not THAT good." And then I watch videos like this and I'm like... THEY ARE THAT GOOD. And Andy's playing is just spectacular. He can highlight every nuance of this amp, that guitar, and their reaction together, seamlessly. And Doug, man, it's obvious how you can have such a phenomenal product when you have people that obviously LOVE what they do as much as he does. Mesa Boogie has thrived for so many years and throughout so many different styles of music not only because they sound great, but also because they're a company that is always listening to their customers and finding new ways to improve. Again, killer amp guys, and couldn't have made a better video to showcase it. I guess I'm sold on Mesa, after all!

In all seriousness, this is the best amp demo I have ever seen, and that's a big part of what I watch on KZbin. As a pro photo and video shooter, I can appreciate all those aspects as well. (even the truck noise at about the 4 minute mark of this video.. lol. I SO feel your pain, there). I have owned a rectoverb 50 and 2 Lonestars and a Cab Clone and Mesa has always answered any and all questions without hesitation and has some actual advice as well. I just sold the Lonestar and waiting on payment from a client and will be picking one of these amps up. I live about 75 miles from The Guitar Sanctuary, and have been to see Andy and the Mesa folks when they were there a while back. What a group of down to earth, customer-centered people. That truly goes for Mesa/Boogie, The Guitar Sanctuary and Andy. Some of the most approachable and helpful people I have ever dealt with.

MESA/Boogie I *LOVED* this video. Its very cool for a format, to see a "top shelf" Boogie Man giving a gear tour to an artist. I really enjoy this a ton. This is the best amp I have ever had in my life. The original video for this amp made me buy it right then and there. It is the best all around amp I have ever had. I just can't express that enough. I also loved it so much I told my buddy about it and he played it and sold his Bogner Uberschall in favor of the Mark Five: 25. I have put my other amps away. No need as they are heavier to carry, too loud, less versatile, and don't sound as good. I can have a Mesa 2X12 at my rehearsal space for practice and a Mesa 1X12 at home for playing and it has served me well. Thank you MESA/Boogie for making the best amp ever. Period.

I'm thinking to get the Mark V 25 as my first tube amp, do you think I can get good bedroom levels? I'm worried at 10 watts it still might be a bit loud
@sondoke
@sondoke 2 жыл бұрын
@@WS-bk7uu I can get great bedroom tones out of my Mark III in the 85 watt mode, so I imagine getting good bedroom tones out of the Five 25 is easily doable. I have heard that the master volume on the 25 is much touchier than the 35, though. As in, the amp volume may jump drastically going from like 1 to 1.5… the 35’s MV supposedly has a much more gradual increase in volume as opposed to a sudden jump. Both models have a headphone out, so you can still crank it and not disturb your neighbors. Opinions differ on the sound quality of the headphone out, but It’s a great option to have.

I just aquired one of these, and it is AWESOME!!!! I''ve heard some of these guys on u-tube claim this head to be a practice or bed room volume-style amp, and they can't be further from the truth! Don't let the size of this head fool you. I've played some venues, that you wouldn't believe headroom and different tone you can get out of this amp, without loss of clarity, tone and volume! Please, for the bedroom player to the gigging musician, give this a spin! And once you check out the price point of one of these, you'll be blown away! I've been a Boogie player for years, and I need not argue with anyone about Mesa- Boogie's validity in any way, shape or form, just go to your nearest Mesa dealer. I promise, you'll be blown away!!!

Huge thanks for the kind words,Scott Perry! So glad that you're finding the Mark Five: 25 both giggable and bedroom friendly. Just gotta check it out to believe it! Thanks again!

So cool to watch my friend Andy do his THANG through this awesome amp! I used to play through an Express 5:50 head, but had to sell it for money reasons years ago. But just the other day I played through the Mark V:25 at the Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney, and it followed me home...well, actually, it followed me straight to my gig that night! Trial by fire on a gig, and let me tell you...it's the best amp I've ever owned, by MILES. It does everything and does it all so well. You guys at Mesa continue to amaze me. To anyone considering this little gem: Buy it. It sounds great across the board, it's light, it has the Cab Clone DI which is fantastic, and it's built like a tank. Best money I have ever spent on gear.

Andy's expressions and pull-offs almost seem to go hand in hand with Mesa's engineering. His unique playing style can easily exploit an amp's sonic weakness, but Mesa keeps the sustain and harmonic in the pocket, which is where Andy's vibe lives. Kudos and thanks for the video.

firstly, amazing sounding amp. What I love about boogies is the amazing core tone before any effects are used. you could rock up with guitar and amp only and not feel restricted in tone, and even free to rely on your fingers and guitar to create different tones. I loved the mark 1v I used to have, very organic harmonically, though found a single recto-verb had such a great core tone easily to dial and leave for almost all gigs. This little amp sounds big, the way I like 6l6 power. Nice work Mesa and one day I may add to my arsenal, though the single rec will never leave my side. been a long time since I moved solely to Mesa as my choice of amp.

What i like more (obviously the sounds that you get in every mode you dial in are marvellous...but not a surprise coming from the mesa camp though) about this video and the other one with John Petrucci is the way that Doug West knows every single corner of the little box (seems like he knows a bit about music too lol), looks so proud of the work done and is happy with what comes out of the amp. Just played the first 2 gigs with my Mark V35. I haven't needed to switch up from the 10 watt mode yet. This amp is plenty for any gig. Once again thanks for such a great amp. Cheers!

I love my little 5:25 head and as exceptional as the videos from Andy Timmons and John Pertrucci sound, they really don't do this little amp all the justice it truly deserves. Those videos capture the tonal capabilities possible with different guitars but don't demonstrate how reactive the amp is. I haven't played an amp before where pickup type, volume setting or how hard you pick the string is so important and really defines the sound. It's like the amp is a musical instrument that's played by the instrument that you're playing. It makes you play better, with more passion, just so you can get "that" tone. My only regret is that I didn't wait a while longer to get the 5:35 with the additional features. My saving grace is that I got the 25 watt amp rather than waiting for the 35 watt head. My audiologist, wife, windows and neighbors are happy about that. Something this small has no right to be this loud. Conversely, even when the volume is just a hair off zero, where you can still hold somewhat of a conversation, you still get a lot of those great tones.

Having had the amp for over a year, the love affair is still there. Channel 2, Mark IV mode, gain just past noon and the volume up around 1 o'clock and it's just heaven for lead tones. I find that after 12 o'clock on the volume, it doesn't get louder, the tone gets "fuller" for lead playing. There's a magic about this amp that I've not had with any other, even the big Mark V. This lil' amp does everything apart from fill a big room. If I could guarantee every place we played I'd be mic'd to the PA, this would be the only amp I'd own. Every time I think I need more 'stuff', I just come home, plug in the frankenstrat with the EMG HetSet and let it wail. Guitar, EMG battery box and the amp - that's it. I can live with the fact that I'll go through EL84's every few months as the tone is just so damned good. My friends say I'm silly living with an amp that chomps power tubes every few months but I think of it this way: if you had a supermodel as a girlfriend, you'd carry spare condoms and enjoy the ride whenever possible, right? Channel 1 - lunchbox from heaven. Channel 2 - lunchbox of the apocalypse. If my amp is faulty and is causing the amp to chomp tubes every few months, I ain't taking it in to get "fixed" just in case that magic disappears. You don't become 'one with the amp', that little box possess you like demons in a horror movie and makes you play like you sold your soul to the devil.

@@Swampster70 just to note, I've had my 25 nearly 3 years an still on original tubes....... so u may have an issue...... doubt ull lose the magic by getting it looked at. I'm in the UK though if that makes a difference to the power sections

Tommy King How hard do you drive the amp? I’ve reverted to not using it in a band situation (volume around the 2 o’clock mark) to where it’s competing with a fairly hard hitting drummer and I have no issues with the tubes since.

Very informative tutorial. Goes into a lot of depth on tone-shaping tips and how to take MAXIMUM advantage of the potential versatility you have at your fingertips. Think this might be my dream amp! I must try it firsthand to confirm... but I think this might be The One.

I was roadie for a band and the lead guitarist used this with a 4 cable method coupled with a BOSS GT-Pro together with a Schecter(‘59 + JB). The tone from that setup is still in my all time favourites 🔥🔥🔥

This amp covers ALL the sounds I want and desire so much. ALL of them. I am STUNNED. And it's capable of being reduced to "not blow your head off/not get kicked out of your development" levels, presumably without loss of tonal richness. I will surely try one to confirm my suspicions that this might (as stated below) just may be The One.

This video is a winner ! A demo like it should be: a little bit of explanation and at least 70% of playing. Very good review, a wonderful top notch amp, wonderful player and a very good "moderator" Mr West. But let's be honest, Andy Timmons would make any amp sound wonderful !

I've looked at Mesa as sort of the gold standard of amps for several years now. There's so much you can do with their amps, it's really quite amazing. One of my heroes is John Petrucci aswell, so he essentially introduced me to the sound of Boogie. At 25 watts it's much more affordable than alot of their other amps, which says alot given it's over 2K where I live. You get what you pay for most of the time though and this is obviously most of the time in this case.
