Finally a good demo of this amp. There are way too many demos just showing of the high gain. This review shows how versatile this amp is. Nice job.

I finally chose this amp after debating for several years. This demo sort of proves that all the folks who said it is just meh or that it’s not tuneful etc are wrong.

john k having said that, I live in the USA and bought an Engl from Thomann in Germany and it was $250 cheaper than anywhere in America and they only charged me 30 euros flat rate to ship. granted 250 isn't a $1000 price difference but there are a few things that are cheaper in euroland 👍

I recently bought a Mesa Mark V 25 and I have to say that one of the best advantage of Mesa amps is it have so much complexity in the harmonics you don't have to crank the gain all the up to find the sweet spot for a big and good "Californian distortion"!! And that is with this kind of high end amplifier you can understand how it's useful to keep a maximum of precision and definition in your sound, especially with high gain settings... When you own a Mesa or a Soldano (or other awesome boutique amps) you definitely enter in a whole new world! That's amazing how a good amp can respond to your pick attack and finger style, and how it respect the natural guitar sound identity!! And this new model is definitely my next amp, when I will earn all the cash I need for it...!! 🤘😊

My ultimate dream amp. Unfortunately at the time of writing it is priced at a frankly ridiculous £2695 (US$3360) in the UK :( Shipping, shop markup, VAT and Mesa 'screw it lets see what we can get away with' mark up must be really high for this one....

KEN the BLOWDOLL yep, yes he can. I own a diezel einstein 50W and never pass the 3 in the Master volume... and the channel volume at 4... it’s a band with 4 guys and freaking loud drummer...50w it’s like 80% of the volume or more of a 100W amp.

Jon Gonzalez friedman does what it does reaaaalllly good but at the same time it doesnt do much different stuff unlike the friedman triple crown is probably the most versitale tube amp on the market and it still sounds damn good But if you sure you only want the 80s british overdriven sound then the small box is the way to go

+V8LC100 I spent about a week at a local guitar store A/B'ing the TC-50 and the V:35, both through a 2x12 Vertical Mesa Cab with Vintage 30s. I really enjoyed the hell out of both amps, but decided to go with the TC. I liked the fact that the TC had 3 channels as opposed to 2 in the V:35. I also seemed to find the tones that I was looking for MUCH faster on TC-50 than I did on the V:35 (punchy fenders cleans on ch 1, Adam Jones/Jerry Cantrell rhythm crunch/gain on ch 2, and a Marty Friedman type lead tones on ch 3). That's probably because I didn't know what the hell I was doing with the 5-band Graphic EQ. lol Don't get me wrong... the V:35 is truly a phenomenal amp. I did find amazing tones on the V:35, but I felt more in control with the TC-50. All the B/M/T/Presence/Gain knobs are so damn responsive and I like the fact that I could use EL-34s, 6L6s, or even 6V6s (which drops the 50W down to 25W). If you have any more questions, ask away.
@V8LC1007 жыл бұрын
MYTOCHON thx for response and it sounds like you have the right amp. Do you find that you need to crank the amp to get the 2x12 cab into its sweet spot? For home use I'm not digging it. Gotta crank a bit too loud I feel...or is it just me?
@thewebhead69777 жыл бұрын
How did you find both for a more 'modern' metal kind of sound? I do like that JP sound as well, but maybe a little thicker. Which amp do you think would fit the bill?
@Niloy637 жыл бұрын
+V8LC100 For home use, I found that turning up the channel master volumes while dropping the output knob a bit helps. I also run a tube screamer in front of the amp with the pedal gain at 1/10 and the tone at 12:00, and when combined with turning the master volumes of the 2nd and 3rd channels up, really brings out some bite. Another thing, if you use an overdrive pedal to beef up the gain, I would turn OFF the tight switch to normal. I find the tight switch really helpful at drummer volumes, where I don't find the need to use the tube screamer for tighter attack.

That guitar has a "Knagging" and annoying fret buzz around the 5th/ 7th frets. Loosening the truss rod a little would fix that, and it wouldn't sound like crap anymore. I understand that many players feel that really low action is more important than good sound, but I happen to disagree. Funny thing is, the Strat does it too, and even worse. Must be a thing with this guy.
