Interesting video, might even make me do a U-turn on a recently placed order of Easterlings (Warriors MTO, Warriors, Kataphracts, Rutabi / Brogir and Amdur) to ally in to my Mordor. Love the look of the Easterlings and those heroes are very hard hitting BUT I think a better ally would be Serpent Horde. Other than the heroes, the Easterlings bring D6 pike block and Shieldwall cav. None of it bad but Mordor isn't short of hard-hitting. It is badly lacking shooting though and I think the Horde would bring a lot more that's of more value, especially with the Betrayer.

So that Ruffians image was from my event, The Battle of Brittain last week over at Atomic Cards in Swindon, and for added context it was Assassination between bog standard Ruffians led by Lotho vs Defenders of Erebor. Ended up being a draw XD.

I have a friend who placed 1st in a 20ish person tourney with Sharkeys Rogues. The key game was against Smaug. The Smaug played didn't realize it was impossible for him to win

Great thing about this game is that no army is impossible to win tournaments with, it's all about scenarios, match ups, and the skill of the player more than the army itself -Liam

I think top of A would have been fine for easterlings, as a balance between the S tier legion and the army, which is rarely played outside the legion. Curious about Harad (yet to listen). They appear in a lot of top placings, but always with Mordor and always with suladan. I guess It's kinda hard to rate armies that appear great on paper, but make results only in specific context

Harad are a great army in their own right, they do require some careful piloting tho given their low defence but their shooting and cav are incredible especially paired with the betrayer -Liam

Ok Easterlings are S in the LL but the factions should be ranked on themselves being a normal faction. A tier.

I think low A is whwre easterlings belong. Although i suppose it depends what criteria youre rating the faction on. If it's only the most competitive, maximised list, then i can see why you've put it there, even then, I've personally never struggled agaisnt the Dragon Emperor

Some of those alliances are pretty wild - Umbar are only convenient allies with Mordor because they got ambushed on their way to fight *in the army of Mordor?* Meanwhile Isengard can't ally with their neighbours Angmar or Mirkwood, but can be convenient allies with Khand or Far Harad because "hey, you never know!"

Angmar is a historical list, it existed a thousand years before isengard so that wouldn't make sense as an ally, same with any of the evil stuff in mirkwood. Khand and Far Harad are contemporary with Isengard at least, I agree they're extremely unlikely but still more likely that any sort of fell beings/Dol guldur or Angmar alliance

@@hughman9975 I see, I remembered Angmar as being mostly a grab bag of "misc" stuff like orcs, wargs and wraiths that would still be in the area by late 3rd Age, and Mirkwood as "basically spiders", I didn't realise they were specifically time-locked.

Mirkwood shouldn't be really locked to the hobbit that's for sure but yeah Angmar was very specifically the witch king fucking up arnor until it collapsed -Liam

They're 'A' tier mate 😂 But also It did, but also like we said in the video, it's a shoehorned into a one play style army which just brings it down as a faction, it's powerful, it's easily a great army, but only when played a specific way, which puts so many great models to the sidelines -Liam

Dunland is a legion so not specifically represented in a faction but Isengard reflects their placing and Goblin town is in the Hobbit book not the LOTR book so it'll get ranked when we do Hobbit Evil armies -Liam

Umm.... ... the Khand chariots (warrior) have to choose between bow or Axe. So you can totally ally yellow a king with like 4 chariots and 3 horsemen.

Just letting you know that you are totally wrong with Harad without the betrayer. I became 1-3 place on a couple of tournament with Harad, and never took the betrayer. Most of the time it's Suladan, Haradrim King on Horse with warspear and then Raza or Taskmaster for the Heros. Then a bunch of Abrahkan Guard and a couple of Watchers of Karna (against terror), with Warriors with Bow and Spear behind them. Also some Serpend Riders and Raiders with Bow (no warspear!) Is very good. You get just more models that way/the warrior models are better on their own. Also the betrayer is a shit magic caster. He can like only use 4-5 will for magic,rest for his poison ruel.Don't know why you always say that Harad has notable magic.

as someone who has never used harad but has a army sitting around for years. why not take the golden king of abrakhan? he seems really good

@@TheBronf sadly he is not. His main problem is that he is only F4. His courage special ruel is not that usefull most of the time. Also 130p may be a fair price for him having a banner, 4 Attacks, 4wounds and is burly with two-handed weapon, but is not what you need in a Harad list. For a banner you have Suladan and you want more troops as they are more the strength of Harad (heros are good but mainly support the troops) He fine for a regular game, but not for a tournament. If he was F5 he would be acctuly quite good.
