it sounds like an album that concentrates on hypnotic repetition and maybe even ambience; that's my favourite side of Mesh, I want to put my headphones on and drift away, so I'm excited

From what you had said about the album, I am not surprised that there is nothing much groundbreaking on the album. In an interview, they had mentioned that they are toning it back and decided to lay down tracks that define Meshuggah as a whole. From that, I can expect more _of_ Meshuggah instead of _more from_ Meshuggah, if you get what I am saying. From the singles the had released, I am already loving the album.

I have a hard time listening to any meshuggah album start to finish, mainly due to the vocals being so static and monotonous. It really beats you down after a few songs. Thanks for the review, im still looking forward to checking this one out.

I felt like this is a solid record but it didn't blew me away tbh, but, if i have to pick stand outs tracks, they must be Broken Cog and Armies of the Preposterous (prob their most wicked song since Pravus). the first and last full song repectively

I've never been the biggest Meshuggah fan,I did enjoy their debut Contradictions Collapse, and their follow up EP None, and Chaosphere certainly had its moments, but aside from the odd few tracks here n there,I've not really dug a whole album by them for a long time .. I think they are one of those bands that I admire rather than enjoy.

Just a hell of an album, dont care if its derivative. Its amazing to be abled to bring the elements from their past albums and blend them so seemlessly. Every song has so much personality. Almost a perfectly paced album.

*I am THAT thirst. Also, you say there are no memorable hooks on Jens' part, but the singles alone have awesome deliveries like "the great dismantler of our dominion" and the way he says "I am that thirst" before a riff kicks in.

This really reminds me of Nothing, arrangements here are much less complex than the four albums that followed that album. It's nice to be able to just get into the music without the gears shifting every five seconds. Not that I don't love the complex stuff too!

@@pairofjeansreviews2034 Thanks for taking the feedback well. I enjoy your channel. Being someone who works with music myself I would recommend even running a high pass, normalize, or EQ filter over the audio tracks of your future videos. It really would bring out your voice and make it pop more.

The two things holding this album back for me are the instrumentals (besides They Move Below) and the general lack of speed and frantic feel to this album. That said Immutable is goddamn heavy. The production and general vibe of this record is dark and drudging and hopeless and repetitive. Very Catch33 just 17 years later hahaha. Cheers

What kind of untalented musician would listen and cover meshuggah songs while being sober? You gotta be on something and cover a song live or in synch to catch a glimpse. Regardless of crappy music, some crap music has defficulty, easy or not easy. I'm just talking nonsense here.

I agree with almost everything you said. For me, I'm fairly disappointed. There's definitely a couple moments or songs that I really like upon the first couple of listens... however, that feeling you described of no real standout moments is one that I feel strongly. I would say the songs seem to lack somewhat of an individual/unique character and seem to just blend together and feel draggy throughout as a result.
