@swedesruleallothers
@swedesruleallothers 3 жыл бұрын
Dipping the rod is a very standard practice in welding. Walking the cup is generally used when welding pipe and not on fillet welds. Some places don’t even allow walking the cup because of scratch marks and high heat input due to the slow travel speed.

Well, there’s the fact that this is a CGI video, meaning it isn’t real. But do people actually attempt tig welding in the cold, the rain, the wind ? Rain and wind are kinda factors that would rule out using a tig welding process for me. That’s a serious question by the way. I am a professional welder but I weld mild steel pipe in a shop and unfortunately I mig everything I do. I have recently been trying to teach myself tig on my own time but I find it’s definitely a pain in the ass, largely because I don’t really know exactly what I’m doing and also largely because I decided to start by learning to tig aluminum, probably not the best idea. lol

@@My.name.goes.here. yeah your what we used to call a torch attendant, guys I worked with reckoned your only a welder when you can do all 3 with all 3. So it was a stainless silo, some 🛎end cross threads a fitting and fractures the weld,, in 🇬🇧 December. Believe me outdoor tig happens!! Lots of tarps n swearing. Ref your learning, get good at stick with either hand will help, but defo learn on steels first, if you can, learn oxy acet gas welding before tig, lots less grinding of tungstens and a feel for the rod. 👍good luck👍🇬🇧👍

I’m a welder and wow this is fascinating, this is nothing but pure CGI. Not to mention his weld is too cold because there was no penetration which means the metal was not fused together, all he did was melt metal and laid a beard. Anybody could do that with enough skill and repetition. Show me a real welder doing this getting plenty of penetration and a perfect uniform bead, and I’ll be impressed however, this was amazing to watch
