Message from Superintendent Connor Concerning School Safety

I'm very interested in remote learning at this point. I'm thankful to all people, resources, and efforts towards stopping this behavior and keeping our kids safe in schools. However, these happenings are beginning to affect the mental health of my 5th grader, who has gone to the same school for 3 years, with no previous issues. Empty threats or not, this is detrimental to my child's health and I cannot/ will not allow it anymore.

Im in 7th grade and my teacher made us watch this, there was a school shooting threat on 9/13/24 (today) at 1:30. I was scared, I was in band class and as the clock ticked foward, my heart sped up. But, luckily, it was only a threat and never happened. GOD BLESS AMERICA. (sarcastically)

While I appreciate this message, can we have a serious talk about hardening our schools so they're no longer easy targets for criminals? Our government buildings and politicians have more security than our schools full of defenseless children. Gun free zones don't stop criminals.
