I have 2 stretch xl g10 models. Took the lanyard tube out of one,it was hitting the blade. I’m definitely gonna swap a pd#1 blade into one of the g10 version. Some rit dye and ti hardware will make a really nice knife. Thanks for taking the time , I know those backlocks are a pain in the ass. Took my police 4 lw apart when I got it,I had black hardware I bought for an endura and put them in the police. Had to go on KZbin and figure out that you have to put the whole knife together with the lock bar. Good stuff thanks again 👍🏻

Dude, thanks for the shoutout! I actually didn't realize that the edge was making contact further up the blade until re-watching the vid later on, so I think you must be right that there really isnt a way to fix that issue with the Centofante CF. It IS a shame really, because otherwise its a beauty. And THANK YOU for checking the blade swap-ability on the Stretch 2 XL. honestly I think thats close enough. If I can at least fit a PD1 or K390 blade into that body and it lock up solid ill be happy. Awesome my friend!

Spyderco’s newer back lock designs generally have the “kick”/ ricasso of the blade land right above the point where the lockbar pivots. This solves that problem with the blade closing too much. Another solution is to add an extra stop pin onto the blade that stops it closing too far and stabilizes the whole mechanism. You see this in the Chaparral. The Centofante is an older design that might have predated these improvements. Although, I don’t recall hearing about this problem on the FRN versions. A one handed closing method that might help mitigate the problem is to keep your pointer finger in the opening hole when you disengage the lock and use it to guide the blade closed.
