Great video! Thanks for the info! I wanted to see how the road works because we are about to travel to Usghuli in 4 days, and I am not sure if we should take the risk considering the snow and the road conditions. What would you say about that? Should we ask and trust the locals? We are going to hire a 4x4 driver from Mestia to go and return.

Fantastic info on the road up to Ushguli. We will arriving in Mestia in mid May,, so hopefully the road will be clear of snow and the worst of the water hazards. Will prob do it in a van as travelling with two others , and they won't want to tackle it on 2 wheels!

been there last winter and the road was terrifying but i am amazed and enjoyed the road. it was adventurous as avalanche are happening while on the road and we need to clear the snows on the road just to pass by. ushguli is one of the world's greatest treasures. paradise it is!

I'd so love to see this road (area) in the winter, I bet it was incredible and somewhat scary. I'm sure the mountains surrounding Ushguli looked incredible. Paradise - couldn’t agree more. 🙏😀

Really helpful Do you reckon itd be advisable to travel in mid September on a 4x4 rental (pathfinder maybe) with couple of toddlers on board
@TheGapDecaders Жыл бұрын
Thank you, September should be absolutely fine in any kind of 4x4. That said, the whole area is incredibly vulnerable to the weather, rainfall in particular causes landslides and can close the road for days. However, if the weathers been reasonably good I wouldn’t hesitate. The locals take it in their stride and deem it essential to keep the road open & have plant on standby to clear/repair the road. Have fun 😀

I watched Chris and Marianne travel the same road in their campervan last September and it looked absolutely terrifying. However, you made it look relatively straightforward on your scooter, albeit some of the drops from the side of the road look scary enough to me. I can understand why Izzy didn't fancy it. The scenery looks absolutely stunning, as it always seems in Georgia. Thanks for another fascinating vlog.

Hi, yep definitely go as it’s an incredible place but don't go before the beginning of May (it may not even be accessible before late May/June due to snowfall) and keep a very close eye on the weather & take local advice. Good luck 🏔😀
