Its awesome because they are so disciplined and have such a good posture with the public. To be a a high ranking in the GNR you need to take a course in a military school. I agree with AB and this applies to any state run entity the government should prohibit their institutions conduct in the desecration of a national flag they swore allegiance to. In my opinion it's disrespectful and being funded by the people is not an appropriate representation of all those you serve. In the case of policing you can also interpret this many ways one being the "blue wall of silence", an informal code among police used to cover up police misconduct. Basically it's divisive and a state entity such as police have no business in fuelling such. So don't be lazy go make your own flag or poppy rally behind something you have created not desecrated. Other civilian organisations can be creative and have done so, learn from their efforts design a unique statement.
