@@OutDehFamily Ballentines was all around there. The workers used to watch us say the Pledge of Allegiance during their morning break when we went to school at St Al's. The second pipeline going into the river (just past Mott St) is where the rinse water from cleaning the beer kegs used to empty into the river. Ballentines used to supply the school and the church with their heat from their steam plant. I still remember the barley trucks with their chain drives and steel wheels pulling out with hot barely.

Exposed to illegal behavior is why cops don’t like video cameras, otherwise it would be “I have nothing to hide, film me anytime”. No articulate suspicion of a crime, hence no show of the ID. Photography of public buildings from a public space (navigable river) is not a crime. One million men and women died fighting for USA freedom, what better reason not to give up your rights?

We sold my grandmother's house across the river in Kearny back in 2011, and it had already gotten a lot better by then. Newark was absolutely awful when I was a kid in the late 80's early 90's, but it's made a lot of improvement since then along with the rest of the NYC metro. Even Hoboken was sketchy back then, but now it's practically as expensive as the city!

A lot of things are gone forever. I remember playing on the seesaws and the swings at Riverbank Park and going to the Ironbound Red Shield Boys and Girls Club. Tell the cops to kick rocks. They have absolutely no right to ask for ID in the first place. Thank you.....I just realized that I forgot to comment on your video. Thoroughly enjoyed it as well! Too funny, you already knew of An American River! Must have been great, going to the premiere! Many, many years ago, I had a canoe, and did a lot of canoeing on the Passaic River up in Fairfield, that whole stretch off of Route 80. Also, down in Lincoln Park and the Singac part of Little Falls. It was great fun! Merry Christmas to you guys as well!!@@OutDehFamily

I hate to be this guy, I respect that cops have a job to do, but what you failed to mention, is the possibility that something malicious happened or happens at any time in the area where you were id'd, guess who the first suspect can be, when they can't come up with a better lead? Yeah, you. Then you have to defend yourself bc you id'd yourself. You might go directly on a list no matter how innocent or cooperative you are. And we all know how officials need to close cases to secure their jobs and/or get ahead. This is why you don't give up your rights and why cops need to understand this.

@@b.i.s9915 yawn here we go again you think I’m “bOotLicKinG” you don’t know me or where I grew up. I been living in NYC since 1990. Dealt with stop and frisk during Giuliani era. But I won’t hear me saying that bs of “all cops are not your friends”. I dealt with cops day in and day out but I wouldn’t be caught in places I shouldn’t be at when the doors are locked. If they are open then the cops wouldn’t even bat an eye lash. Second NJ transit was targeted by terrorist and thanks to those @ssholes I almost became a victim of it, thanks to “insert deity’s you worship here” the bomb failed. @@jaimhaas5170 Yes, it is clear to us as informed citizens. But I’ve noticed that it is a very wide thing to clarify verbally on camera so that there is total clarity captured. There are lots of videos where police get pissed off when somebody doesn’t agree to identify, and then they turn around and say that the person was detained and try to edit history and make it seem like the person was legally required to ID. So my point was that he should have forced the police to very directly and clearly confirm that it was a consensual conversation on video to protect himself should the interaction taken a turn if he had declined to identify.
