I struggle with my mental health a lot. Currently my agoraphobia is the worst it has ever been in my entire life thanks to the pandemic. I have been looking more into VR as an additional and alternative means of therapy to try and help “immerse” me in the outside world but from my safety of my apartment. The friends I’ve been able to make over the year through VRCHAT even without a headset have offered to help “take me out” since I have no support locally. Getting a quest 3 could potentially be extremely life changing for me if the apps I’ve looked into can provide the added support that I so desperately need.

I have wanted a Quest since the original first came out. It's been a dream of mine since I first learned about social VR platforms. I've always had a hard time making friends but for some reason I'm able to be myself so much easier online. Also I started 3D modeling last year and It is my dream to be able to see the worlds and avatars i created in VR! I really appreciate the amount of thought and time you put into your videos! I only have the Quest 1 and missed opportunities on trading it for the Quest 2. Quest 1 obviously losing support like with Horizon Worlds, attended a few live concerts while I was able to. I know you can watch them anytime now, unless I lose support with that too 😂. This is a very good overview, thank you! However I'm still not sold on this as being much of an upgrade, certainly when you're talking about $800 to replace my Quest 2 w/ elite battery strap. They really should have released this as Quest 2 'Pro' model that worked with your existing accessories - and should be on work on the real next-gen VR headset. On consoles when you go from one generation to the next, you're talking 5x-8x the performance generally, and here they're saying 'up to a 2x GPU boost' - that's not next gen. Oculus, for their part, is limited by the sorry state of Qualcomm who has fallen way behind Apple in terms of mobile processors. Which brings me back to $800 - is this worth that? Clearly the answer is no, not at this time anyways. This whole thing feels really rushed, I mean who launches a new console and doesn't even have any next-gen games available? I'll revisit the headset in the future, but in its current state, I don't know how this isn't a disappointment, even if it is an improvement. But, if you're not invested in VR already, this would certainly be a great starting place - although with the discounts to the Quest 2, you'd probably be able to get it as less than half the price of even the base Quest 3, which again makes you question if it's worth the extra money or not. BTW, I've owned every Oculus unit since DK1, I'm not a Oculus or even FB hater, I think the Quest 2 is a great headset - but while the Quest 3 certainly seems better, it's not a leap of any kind, and that makes it quite disappointing to me since we're stuck with this for a while -- assuming FB even makes a Quest 4.

Its not only the GPU power that matters... The whole experience is vastly superior to the Quest 2, just buy the headset, try it and if u don't like it u can send it away by the 14th day I can certainly say it's worth the price

The oculus quest 3 is rushed and people are hyping it up too much and i am not sold on Virtual reality and i bought the oculus quest 2 and it wasn't impressive to me. it's not a leap of any kind as you mentioned.

There are many reasons as to why I'd love to get my hands on a Quest 3, but if I had to choose a few it would have to be the following: 1. Testing the new colour passthrough along with the depth sensor 2. Experiencing the increased FOV and resolution (very excited for this one specifically, always seeking greater immersion ^^) 3. Less bulky design I first got into VR with the Quest 1, only a week after it's release, couldn't stop using it whatsoever! - later testing the Quest 2, I was fascinated, at which point I knew that I will always love seeing how Meta's products are changing and improving. If I win, I would give my friend my Quest 2 with comfort mods in a heartbeat!

I'd like to get it.About a year ago I was in a future museum where I could try out the Quest 2. There I first noticed how much fun VR is!!!! I only had a VR headset at home where you put your phone in and can only watch KZbin 360° videos, so I bought the surprisingly cheap Quest 2 shortly after. Since then I use it almost every day. When the Quest 3 was introduced, I was so excited that I convinced my boyfriend to buy it himself. My problem now is that my Quest 2 has at most an hour of battery life, which makes it difficult to play with my friend in VR, so I'm trying my luck here.

I have a lot of friends that have had VR headsets, and I always wanted to try it, but my friend sold his, and one never charged it (I always found that crazy cause I was desperate 😅). I tried to get one during Christmas, but they were always to expensive, even though the quest 2 is considered "cheap". But now I've been waiting for about 3 years and I have the chance to get one! Got the quest3, one of the things I was looking for was watching movies in it. I had the quest one but the clarity was too low to enjoy watching movies over using my TV. But now it's so sharp and immersive I'm going to watch everything with this headset, including 3d movies like avatar. Also using virtual desktop is very crisp I can use my desktop comfortably whilst sitting on my sofa or bed

After trying out the quest3 on my two goto games (SynthRiders & In Death Unchained) I can say that the visuals and response are noticeably better than the quest2, the haptic feedback in the controllers is much better too. What is not better is the comfort. The bare headset is not as comfortable as the quest2. The material is not as soft. I will definitely be getting a padded cover to soften the fit. Also the headset straps are strong enough to create big pressure on the head. I needed to loosen them. I don't ever remember needing to loosen my quest2 straps.

I mainly play PCVR games - heavily modded Skyrim and FO4 are my current favourites, but I play many others, only occasionally playing Quest standalone games. My rig is a ryzen 9 5900X with 32 GB ram and an rtx3070. I use Virtual Desktop wirelessly to connect to my Quest 2 and my system is just about at it's limits, so realistically I need to upgrade my graphics card before I would be able to handle an increase in resolution. Therefore I doubt I'll be rushing out to buy one. AR and MR hold little interest for me at the moment so the colour pass through does not seem very exciting.

Hi Cas and Chary! I have purchased the meta quest 3 and got it 11th October and having lots of fun with it but I recently noticed it seems I have a permanent small fog in my right lens.. The trace is observable when I read text directly at the moment I put on the quest so its not because I am sweating.. I tried to wash it with a dry cleaning cloth but it stays there.. I saw some people are using an hair dryer, what do you think about it ? I have the feeling the fog trace is within the lens :s Maybe I caused it myself by using my own breath on the lens when trying to clean them with a dry cleaning cloth .. Thanks in advance :)

The fog finally disappear after I clean the lense with a tissu for glasses. Softly clean the quest 3 lenses.. Fog come back sometimes because of my own face temperature I guess but then clean again..

I am actually excited for the Quest 3. Not so much for the better standalone capabilities, but very much for the huge bump in lens clarity on wireless PCVR, and surprisingly for the Mixed Reality experiences. Those will not only be fun for my kids or guests who might have a lower barrier to try it out if they can still see their surroundings, but also beneficial for me, so I don't hit my kids on the head when they are running around while I play some rhythm game. 🙂So I would actually very much like to upgrade to a Quest 3.

@@FlorianFahrenberger It is actually not $500, but $630. You have to buy the elite headstrap, or it is too uncomfortable just like Quest 2 and the battery life is too short. And you are still playing the same Quest 2 games. Quest's roadmap is very unclear because Quest 3's demand is much lower than expected. There is no AR apps because Quest pro's sales was pretty bad.

I’m glad that once you put the headsets next to each other, the FOV increase was clearer. After watching your initial reaction review, that was something I was a little disappointed about. For the quest 3, I want to get one to explore the productivity options and see how well work can be done. I’ve recently started getting into using immersed with quest 2, but the passthrough for the keyboard is a little tough. Also, I’d love to explore options for education. I’ll be teaching Ready Player One this year, so it would be amazing to show students in class.

Yes! It's clear that you can use your real desk with multiple virtual monitors with Immersed or something else. Other MR apps seem to allow Virtual Armor or clothing or masks on real people. You can put way points on real world points. Someone in another thread had the idea to gamify chores or tasks, like showing which part of the floor you had not vacuumed with crazy fantasy weeds growing or whatnot. Many successful VR games and apps will be making MR versions and it can be easily broadcast to a screen for a group to watch users' view.

@@tobiasmyers3505 yeah one of the complaints seems to be the limitations of the current state of MR. I think with this release, especially if it can gain traction, so many interesting applications will come up.

Meta Quest 3 seems like an amazing headset and an amazing upgrade from Quest 2. Only thing that wories me is how new room calibration works. I have privacy concerns with the bad-quality cameras that are used for inside-out tracking, but automatic room mapping and high-quality passthrough cameras are a bit more concerning.

Very understandable want on why I would like getting the Quest 3 is because of an Upgrade from my Quest 1, but also easy to introduce another family member into the world of VR. I'm hoping to try the Mixed reality aspect in depth and letting other family members experience that with me.

Assassin’s Creed is coming to Quest 3. Mixed reality games will be exclusive such as Ghostbusters mixed reality add-on

I've been following VR since the Google Cardboard, and its insane seeing how far the tech has evolved since then. I've been wanting to develop for VR but haven't had the chance to get my hands on a headset just yet, but this one definitely looks like a winner mainly just for how feature packed it is for a relatively reasonable price.

I haven't been keeping track of VR headsets for a few years (didn't even know a quest 3 was released) and I am surprised by how clear the image is at 12:25 I'm not used to how crisp it is or how wide the viewing angle is. I remember cam through lens pics being awful. impressive. still hate facebook though

Honestly, I think this is basically the best XR headset the world has ever seen (maybe losing only to some of the REALLY high end headsets, Varjo Aero style), and it's still under 1000 bucks! It's amazing! I hope I win the givaway, I mean, it was hard enough for me to get the 64GB Quest 2, imagine getting a Quest 3. Even harder considering I have to spare some money to buy a decent laptop for college. But I mean, how cool is the Quest 3?! Just the ease of setup and having it literally break your walls to mix real and virtual, I mean it's insane! And those lenses ought to be a visual treat! I hope I can get a Quest 3 one day, either by this givaway or by saving up to nuy it further down the line, I just hope I don't end up buying the 128GB version just a month before they switch it for an equally-priced 256GB model! They did slightly traumatize me with the Quest 2

Love your reviews! I am asking a few respected reviewers an important question: Since I use headsets more for creating and posting high definition 360 VR videos, could you please confirm that the Quest 3 cannot resolve KZbinVR 360 VR videos better than 1080p, perhaps due to this new slanted display system they have incorporated?. I have heard that even AirPano 360 12K videos look awful in the Quest 3. Could you comment on this please as it would be a deal breaker for 360 content creators using KZbinVR to share their work. 12:07 Peak PPD is 25? So its clarity rivals the HP Reverb G2? I'd probably want to also invest into a VR stand, strap upgrade, headphones, grips/straps for the controllers, lens cover, and different facial interface. So easily $150 more beyond the price of the headset.

Well, why wouldn't I want one? Best resolution in that price, pancake lenses, next gen chipset, cool MR, better ergonomics. I could go on and on. As a PCVR user with a slowly dying Quest 1. Quest 3 would be a life changer.

I have had the Q year and the Quest 2 and love them. A Quest 3 would be fantastic but it is outside my price range and my Quest 2 controllers are losing tracking and making games unplayable. Love your videos. Keep them up.

Just ordered mine today. Forgot it was even coming out tomorrow. I had given my daughter my Quest 2 early this year when I got the PSVR2, which now just sits there. So I am going to see if she wants it for her PS5. Honestly, once I am wireless in VR, I just can't do wired VR these days, to much of a pain haha. I can't wait to get it tomorrow. Will be nice.

I have a feeling the quest 2 occlusion issue will go away in short time. The Quest hasn't had a depth sensor until now, so it had zero concept of occlusion when using AR apps. I can see hand tracking and occlusion getting far more refined thanks to quest 3
