Yes but actually no It is possible to NS Alister the invoker without putting the opponent to sleep and it is a very legal move however activating the sleep speed 4 effect of the human brain while not mentioned anywhere in the rule book or any official rulings of the game is now very customary of the player base in the same manners the use none official terms and habits (as long as it not transgressing on the core gameplay of the game) while falling asleep during an official match is illegal but falling asleep during an invoked combo is tolerable since the opponent will always wake up after the combo is over and will be able to interact with the rest of the turn in a healthy manner (note staying asleep past the last move in the invoked combo is illegal and would be met with a MATCH loss) Ps: why the fuck people complain about NS Alister but none complains about NS TOUR GUIDE either hate on both or none For me both are fine and hating on Alister simply for the sake of a bad meme is really annoying

The way that double iris magician works is different between ocg and tcg? I used to play tons of pendmagician when it came out (2017), and as far as I know, you could activate it's effect to destroy itself, because (I think) you actually didn't need to battle. Yeah, you can't attack first turn, but the effect just gives the monster another effect, and that monster doesn't have to battle to get the effect, or even be able to. I'm talking about 2017, so maybe something happened from then to know that I don't know that changed how the card works. Excelent video as always.

Hey Coder, one thing I think would be great is a video about complicated conjunctions. Not the basic ones you can read on the wiki, but ones where it says "Do A and if you do, do B, then you can do C" or similar. How is this affected in situations where you're allowed to do A and B, but not C? And then if C is mandatory, does it change if you're allowed to activate it? Then you can mix and match what you can and can't do (A,B,C) and explain how that affects when you're allowed to activate the effect and not.

Follow up on Comica ruling with Dragoon. Based on what I know, equip cards continuously target x monster its equipped to. For example: DDR targeting dragoon. Yes it still resolves normally. Doomking doesn't specify that the Zombie monster has to be on the field in resolution. A zombie monster just had to activate it's effect and start a chain. @FlavinatorXD32

Equip cards usually only target a monster when they’re activated from the hand, if they’re equipped by a different card effect (like the noble knight boss monsters) they don’t target, they just get equipped. After they’re equipped, they don’t have to continuously target the monster, they’re just equipped, but if the monster gets flipped face-down, they don’t know what they’re equipped to anymore and get sent to the graveyard.

So in a recent video by Duel Links Meta; in a Duel Links duel (so official game/simulator) P1 had summoned D-Hero Plasma during his turn and P2 used the quick effect of Trifortressops and summoned it from hand. P1 activated Plasma and targeted Trifortressops, but it wasn't affected. P2's turn starts and during SP Trifortressops' second effect was negated by Plasma. What is your take on this ruling by the game?
@VyaxUltima
@VyaxUltima 3 жыл бұрын
Being unaffected is correct. The bug is that Trifortressops did not lose 500 DEF. Becoming unaffected is applied while the card is being summoned, as part of its activated effect in the hand. Something like Plasma would not negate it before it's applied. For the record, official games can still be wrong.

im not a legitamage sorce don't take this for definite but I think it shuffles into it's owners deck not the person who holds the card. Most cards if not all cards say shuffle into the deck instead of your/their deck so I think that's how it's ruled based on wording. Another reason it probably is ruled like this is because it would stop people "accidentally" stealing cards
@SoggyWaffles.
@SoggyWaffles. 3 жыл бұрын
A card that returns to "the deck" returns to the owner's deck. In the example you have, all cards in each player's hand go into their respective owner's deck and each player draws cards equal to the number of cards they shuffled into either their deck or their opponent's deck. As far as I know, there are only two cards that can exist in the non-owner's deck: _Parasite Paracide_ and _Pharoah's Treasure_ . Both have an effect that shuffles themselves into a particular deck ("your opponent's deck"/ "your deck") face-up. There is not a great answer to the problem of randomizing a deck with face-up cards, so for the sake of your local judge, don't play these cards.

Spheres are negated only on the field, so as soon as they leave the field, their effects are live, this means that if seal tribute itself, the effect resolves. For the second question, there are 2 different cases. Pacifis is ALWAYS considered as umi, even under imperial order, becaus it's not an effect (same applies to Stromberg cost). Harpies have an effect to change name, therefore if their effects are negated, they are not considered as harpie lady

For your first question, you ARE allowed to activate the effect of Spheres, as it tributes itself for cost, not for the effect. Nothing would be bounced, because the effect was still negated. However, you would be able to trigger the second effect of spheres to summon a monster from deck. For your second question, text on cards that change their names are considered CONDITIONS, not continuous effects. Conditions are not considered to be part of a card's effect. For this reason, Pacifis would still be considered as Umi under Imperial Order, and the Harpy monsters would still be considered Harpy Lady under Skill Drain.

@VyaxUltima
@VyaxUltima 3 жыл бұрын
Imperial Order will negate all three of those cards. It doesn't matter if they leave the field, their effects are still Spell effects on the field. That being said, in the second scenario, if Droplet sends both Engage and Widow Anchor, then when you resolve their effects you have 3 Spells and can apply the additional effects.

Question for anyone who can explain, doesn't Slifer's destruction effect take priority when a monster has a summoned effect? Because it isn't an active effect, it's just continous so when your opponent summons a monster they automatically lose 2000 ATK (assuming it's summoned in attack mode) and is then sent to the grave without activating it's effect? Is this right?
@Throrma
@Throrma 3 жыл бұрын
Slifer's effect is not continuous, it's a trigger, but maybe I'm wrong
@SoggyWaffles.
@SoggyWaffles. 3 жыл бұрын
Slifer's floodgate effect is a Trigger Effect, not a Continuous Effect. You can tell this from the PSCT because there is an activation condition followed by a colon: "If a monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your opponent's field in Attack Position:". In your scenario, the monster's on-summon effect and Slifer's effect would activate on the same chain.
@corebren2510
@corebren2510 3 жыл бұрын
The order according to which simultaneous Trigger effects are placed on a chain is as follows: 1. Turn Player's mandatory Trigger effects 2. Non Turn player's mandatory Trigger effects 3. Turn player's optional Trigger effects 4. Non Turn player's optional Trigger effects , with the activating player being able to order Trigger effects that are on the same "priority level" as they see fit. Slifer's last effect is a mandatory Trigger effect. By taking it and other Trigger effects that may be activated at the same timing, as well as the above rule into account, you can know when in the chain it's supposed to be placed. Example 1: You control a Slifer, and your opponent Normal Summons a Cyber Dragon Core, on his turn. Core has a mandatory Trigger effect, and the Turn player is activating it. In this scenario, Slifer's effect is a Non turn player's mandatory trigger effect. So, according to the above rule, Core's effect will be chain link 1, and Slifer's effect will be chain link 2. Example 2: It's your turn, and you control Slifer. On this turn, your opponent uses the effect of Tri-Brigade Revolt to Link Summon Tri-Brigade Shuraig the Ominous Omen. On summon, Shuraig has an optional Trigger effect which, if activated in this scenario, would be the non Turn player's. Slifer's effect here is a Turn player's mandatory Trigger effect. So overall, according to above rule, Slifer's effect has to activate at chain link 1, and then your opponent can opt to use Shuraig's effect as chain link 2, if they so desire.

presumably, it's negated and then set as if you hit it with red reboot. going _strictly by its text,_ it would be negated, then be returned to its original position, which is face-up on the field because position refers to a card's orientation on the field and it was never face-down. then, since imperm is a normal trap, it's immediately sent to the grave by game mechanics because normal traps can't remain face-up on the field without something keeping 'em there. that said, since the card is clearly using some wording that's older than yami yugi ( like, even the japanese text uses the nebulous "restore" or "reset" - and, no, _not_ "re-Set" ), you kinda just have to assume the intention of the wording than what it actually says, and the only way a trap was activating without already being set on the field was by using the basically permabanned makyura. so the trap could only ever be "restored" to being set face-down on the field, yeah, it's probably just stopping imperm for the turn in exchange for 500 lp and letting them get the column effect next turn

In this situation, if there is a face-up "Hunter Dragon" on my opponent's field that is unaffected by Spell effects due to the effect of "Forbidden Lance", can I activate a card such as "Grinning Grave Virus" and apply the effect of "Lair of Darkness", so that I Tribute that opponent's "Hunter Dragon" for the cost? A: In this scenario, since your opponent's "Hunter Dragon" is unaffected by the effects of Spell Cards, it is also unaffected by the effect of "Lair of Darkness" that allows you to Tribute it when activating a card or effect. Therefore, in this scenario, you cannot Tribute that "Hunter Dragon" when activating a card or effect.

If my opponent has something like a Destiny Hero Plasma, and I have a Trifortressops which is successfully Special Summoned from my hand, are it's effects still negated by Plasma? What would the interaction be if it was something like Deus X-Krawler or Skill Drain instead?
@dannyboers4704
@dannyboers4704 3 жыл бұрын
It’s effect would still be negated same with skill drain since their effect is already applied on the field and when trifortessops will apply it’s effect on it self after it’s been successfully summoned, it’s effects are already negated so it can’t apply it’s effect on itself. Trifortresstops effect is a continuous effect and krawler only negates activated effects

Ruling question: If I have Necroworld Banshee in graveyard, my opponent activates D.D. Crow in hand. Do I activate Banshee quick effect on activation or if I activate my Banshee, then D.D. Crow activates. What is the interaction between those cards?
@VyaxUltima
@VyaxUltima 3 жыл бұрын
If you activate Banshee as CL1, it's banished for cost by the time the opponent can respond, and they can't Crow it. If Crow targets Banshee as CL1 and Banshee is chained as CL2, Crow resolves without banishing anything.

With @Ignister getting some traction and people picking it up I have a question regarding a specific interaction. Can Linguriboh use my opponents extra deck summoned @Ignister for it's graveyard resurrection?

Unless stated otherwise, tributing costs are always payed with monsters on your side of the field.

Question: I activate pot of desires then chain my own forbidden droplet sending the pot of desires I activated as it’s cost negating a monsters effect. If I can do this then why is it then when the activation of cursed eldland is negated it is not considered to be sent from the field to the graveyard to meet the requirements of its effect? Thanks! Love these segments

Those are very different scenarios. If the activation of Cursed Eldland is negated, or it is destroyed in the same chain it was activated, it goes to the GY and does not get its GY effect, because it was not successfully activated and therefore not on the field. If you were to activate Eldland from hand, then chain Droplet, Eldland will not be able to activate its effect; however, if you have Eldland on the field, activate the search effect, and chain Droplet to send it, then its GY effect can be activated, because it had established itself as on the field. Hope that helps.

The thing is, when the activation of a Spell/Trap card is negated, it is *retroactively* treated as not being sent from field to GY. Unless that happens though, a card is still face-up on the field, hence why the former example of a scenario works.

Zombie world with rivalry vs Magician Navigation with no monsters on field, will the effect of M.N. Be able to activate and/or resolve to summon DM and a level 7 or lower spell caster?
@VyaxUltima
@VyaxUltima 3 жыл бұрын
You will summon Dark Magician, which changes to Zombie due to Zombie World. Since you now control a Zombie under Rivalry, you cannot summon a Spellcaster. Navigation stops resolving there.

I don't understand...so if Double Iris Magician requires attack damage to be applied to the opponent in order to activate the effect, then why would you ever be able to activate the effect in any turn where you choose to skip the battle phase? Not having a battle phase first turn seems like the same thing to me as skipping the battle phase if you so choose. Same concept. The effect of Double Iris does not stipulate that you must damage the opponent, it just says double damage that you do. If you choose to do no damage, in non turn one, and can still use his effect, then why can't you do it in turn one? I understand that this may be the accepted ruling....but why.

skipping turn is not the same as not being able to conduct a bp. That is just the different meaning of the word skipping vs conduct in ygo

Can you explain the difference between a condition (like the inability to link with some link monster) and continuous effects which can be negated (like preventing special summons)?
@VyaxUltima
@VyaxUltima 3 жыл бұрын
The major thing between the two is that conditions cannot be negated.

I got a timelord question. If a timelord attacks directly will its effect still resolve or will it not fill its condition?
@VyaxUltima

"Battled" means the monster reached damage calculation in a battle. This counts for direct attacks as well.
