I see so many people talk about the white light not being enough but in reality its so much more than we’ve been getting. Phones don’t have “recording” lights, people hold them up to their face all the time as if they’re watching or reading something, and you can’t tell if they’re recording you.
@turbotaquitogoogle8095 Жыл бұрын
The difference is that we can still tell if someone's recording on their phones (to an extent). Humans are REALLY good at recognizing body language, and can pick up on subtle cues that someone might be filming (if they're holding their phone up, if it's at an awkward angle, if it pans, etc). With someone wearing glasses, there are no cues to pick up on, so we have to compensate with lights. Neither are perfect of course, but transparency should always be the goal

What's the big concern about being recorded anyway? If you're in public and can be seen by the human eye there's no law that prohibits you being filmed. The issue is what happens to your data once it's recorded. Monetized without your consent for example. Your movements analysed. Etc Quite sure the same visual cues people give off while filming with a phone will become evident with glasses too.

Hot take: I like the subtlety of the indicator light. I wouldn't be trying to do anything creepy with them, but I also don't like the idea of drawing a bunch of attention to myself when I want to take a quick pic or video of something I'm seeing or getting into confrontations with people thinking I'm recording them rather than something next to them etc. EDIT: I'll add the additional context that I'm usually someone who feels uncomfortable taking pics/vids with my phone around strangers. I subconsciously can't help but feel "judged" (wish I didn't care like the public TikTokers lol)

I don't think there should be a light at all. That's just asking to draw attention to the expensive thing on your face and for your glasses to get snatched off your head. There are no other devices I own that have any flashing lights while I'm recording videos and it should stay that way.

I had the first gen Stories and honestly the video and camera were "neat" but not worth it. I used it mainly as sunglasses/bluetooth. These though, game changing, the built in AI once you actually start USING it is SO ridiculously handy. Example? Get my kid in the car start driving realize I need gas, gas prices are so high right now. So I say "Hey Meta, what's the cheapest gas price near me" boom tells me the nearest gas station along with the cheapest price. Busy doing something with my hands or my hands are dirty and don't wanna touch my phone? "Hey Meta, answer call" or "Hey Meta, what's the best temp to cook ____" It's not till you start USING it regularly that you realize you can disconnect from your phone SO much more. It's really freaking awesome and I can't WAIT for these to get integrated into many other applications and connect to more things.

Yeah I'd never thought about how useful it could be to have the audio capability of a pair of earphones but complete passthrough and ability to not feel disconnected from reailty I use conversational (with audio) ChatGPT a lot in my work and studies, and just the ability of having that on the go and without actually wearing earphones is incredibly intriguing. And adding vision to that AI (Being able to talk about what's in front of me) would be absolutely huge, literally adding a second sense to the AI. Like you say this thing of speakers and a camera in your glasses is in itself not that useful, but with AI it literally changes everything and feel like it could actually have the potential to be the next big thing, at least for AI power users. The Black Holes merging conversation was the perfect time to ask Meta to google it and explain it to you, so you don't have to talk about something you don't know. Because there are more things happening while they merge, in the event horizon time "stop", because of gravity, so much more cool things happen not only merge... the thing is you had Meta ready to give you the info needed to complete the conversation, and you didn't used it.

I think the answer for more powerful devices with the same form factor is cloud computing. There is a limit to what you can offload to the cloud, the reason cloud gaming never took off is because of the latency between actions and reactions. We can use the cloud power computing to override the current limitations of these devices but not to much because we have to keep the rate of latency at low, instead we can use our phones as cutting edge computing which will connect to the cloud in order for what they need, not completely computing by it , so the three things must work simultaneously the glass, phone and the cloud and balancing between them, i think it could be done 👍🏻

What Apple and Meta are doing with mixed reality is eventually going to be common use. You don’t need to see with your eyes. You have pass through cameras for that. They will get more clear and better over time as well as more cost effective and battery efficient too. Imagine walking down the street with a map and music in the corner of your view. Moving and changing things with eye tracing and hand tracking. You can change the transparency to make it less distracting. This is so exciting and I can’t wait for the technology to get better.

Having your eyes fixed on a screen a few inches from your face all day non stop doesn't seem healthy. Bought me a pair and I love them. I am totally blind so I asked Meta to do a lot of things to read my mail and doesn’t read it word for word but it does the highlights of stuff and that’s all I need. It’s where it’s from and how much I owe. I also can take something out of my cabinet like food or whatever tell it to look and describe then I can ask questions about it how to cook it everything it is not made for the blind, but it sure does help this old lady

The one guy who wants flashing red signals should remember this: millions of people use smartphones to film in public and it's extremely rare that anyone will get upset about it. Why doesn't he require warnings on smartphones?

Red light should blink at about 150% average resting heart rate - this is how blizzard tune the frequency of vfx for things players should be wary of.

WOW, can I say im impressed they mentioned the privacy concerns. Good for them for recognizing how unsafe that is.

These are only about 200 to 250usd where im located. Theyre litterally anywhere from 50 to 60dollars more than the standard models used to cost before these were introduced. Since the first model was introduced they lowered the prices of their main non smart glasses models down to as low as 99dollars sometimes when they used to be arohnd 200 to 250. Rayban and facebook are obviously selling these at cost or potetially even at a loss to get it adopted to a point where its as common as a smartphone so they can raise the price to thousand dollars or more and people will want to buy it just like what happened with the iphone back then no one thouvh someone would buy a 800dollar phone and even with apples discount through att no one thought it would sell for thr 400dollar discounted price but the product was so good and he got the right people to adopt it and now every brands flagship phones are thousands of dollars.

Do they offer prescription lenses for them? Or are they only transitions?

Prescription lenses are able to be added to them. I am awaiting my lenses now. These glasses are insane.

So LaMA actually runs really well on local hardware. Is this still phoning into a service or does it work locally on your phone?

I have to first version Rayan Stories. I like them for glasses with tech w/ prescription lenses. I will be getting these as well. Like how they added new features and hope battery life is longer.

Black holes don’t have infinite mass, but have infinite density. Should think of the mass being concentrated on a point. So from far the black hole just feels like another planet or star.
@williamhumber5890 Жыл бұрын
Black holes still have a finite density, it's just high enough that there is some point outside the radius of the actual black hole that gravity so strong that light cannot escape.

It’s gonna be so weird one day when people never know if someone is talking to them or to their assistant. Even nowadays people talking with AirPods in are assumed to be on the phone but glasses are so innocuous

Hello, thank you for the review I am completely disabled due to cerebral palsy very very limited use of my hands, and can really only use my voice. How long can I live stream for and then upload it to KZbin? Secondly, with the AI built-in can I give voice command and the glasses start recording because that would be a true game changer for my KZbin channel third question do the glasses come with prescriptions because I already wear glasses.
